This luxury hilltop vacation rental cabin is located in Smithville, Oklahoma, just north of Hochatown, Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake. Hilltop Getaway is situated on the highest point in Legacy Trails Cabins and has "above the tree line" panoramic views of the Kiamichi mountains in all directions. Legacy Trails Cabins, a 30-acre cabin community, provides private access to the Upper Mountain Fork river that feeds Broken Bow and is a short 3.5 hour drive from the DFW area. This 1300 sq. ft. cabin, with covered porches and an oversized deck with a 3-burner Weber Genesis gas grill, has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. It has a fully stocked kitchen with a Keurig K-Duo coffee maker that works with ground coffee or K-cup pods and a utility room with washer and dryer. It comfortably sleeps 8 people and has queen sized beds in two rooms and two bunk beds in the 3rd bedroom.

Legacy Trails Cabins provides 10 kayaks, life jackets and paddles for your use at no additional charge on a first come, first serve basis. Our Hilltop Getaway Cabin is about a 3 minute drive or 5 minute walk to the kayaks.

This cabin offers a cozy fireplace and an oversized outdoor fire pit area with four Adirondack chairs, which make for a great place to roast marshmallows, make S'mores or just relax and watch the stars. Plus, we provide firewood at no cost, so one less thing to worry about!

It was secluded and worked great for the family. The river was our favorite. The kids swam and learned to kayak. It was little further than I realized from beavers bend area but worked out.

Had a great stay with all of my close friends. The cabin was cozy and stocked. Lots of movies and games as well as a grill and fire pit. About a 5 minute walk to the river where kayaks are provided.

It was well taken care of. Immaculate home and grounds. It was very relaxing to sit out and listen to wildlife. We could hear the river but you can’t see it. You do need to drive a few minutes.

great getaway
We really enjoyed our mini-vacation! The cabin was very nice and modern. Very tastefully decorated and stocked with nice kitchenware. The free use of the kayaks was nice, but access to the river was a little steep and difficult. Cabin was nicely stocked, but no soap/shampoo. I cant complain, We had a wonderful laid back time. We will be back soon!

A beautiful, secluded getaway....
Hilltop Hideaway was just what we wanted. We loved our stay. The property is absolutely beautiful. Upon arrival, the cabin looked identical to the pictures inside and out. They had music playing and the AC on which is a must in 90 degree heat. Things we liked about the cabin: Fully-stocked cabin (crock pot, blender, mixer, beach towels, games-literally seemed to think of almost everything) New washer/dryer (no one wants to do laundry on vacation but with little kids and lakes, it's necessary). Also provided laundry soap and dryer sheets (we brought our own but they didn't have to provide it) Comfortable beds Beautiful fixtures and decorations Nice quality linens and lots of them Propane grill Outside seating Wood for the fire pit Access to kayaks/canoe Helpful property managers (PM) when needed Wildlife all around Some items that would improve the stay: Ceiling fans on back porch because it got hot and muggy in the late afternoon/evening Shelves in bedroom closets to place clothing (nice for those staying a week or more) A nasty storm knocked out power for 11 hrs (not their fault but...) the power would also flicker or momentarily go out from time to time so it would be nice (and a huge PLUS) to have a wired backup generator. Yes, I know expensive but it would be piece of mind since the area is so remote. If that is not an option, a portable generator that the PM could provide in the event of an outage would be nice. The cabin a small yard but clearing out some of the tall weeds a bit further down the hill would enhance the landscape and also provide more room for kids to play and have yard games out. I read in a review that the river access was difficult. Owner did indeed put in nice stairs with handrail leading down. My only suggestion would be to add stairs going all the way up. Doesn't have to be cement as I'm sure you don't want to take away from the view but maybe put in RR ties dug into the hill to make it a lot easier. The aftermath of storms made it difficult to go up and down with little ones. I will add that the river is a steep 5 min walk down the hill from Hilltop Hideaway so if you are planning to hang out at the river all day, you may want to take your vehicle. The river has little to no bank so not ideal for hanging out but a nice fishing spot. Bonus, they have adorable otters swimming around as well. Overall, we absolutely loved it and want to come back during the fall/winter.

I have never been in a vrbo that was so well-stocked. As a mom of three I cannot tell you what a blessing that was! Most places make you bring everything except the kitchen sink, but this house had everything we needed, including laundry detergent which was a lifesaver. The house was clean, the patio was huge and the view was beautiful. My kids loved just hanging out on the patio and the backyard. The neighborhood was quiet. Sadly there was a burn ban in place at the time so we didn't get to take advantage of the awesome fire pit, but that wasn't any one person's fault. My only "complaint" is that most of the attractions that we were interested in were in Broken Bow, so the drive to/from the cabin was 30-40 mins every day. But overall I was very pleased.
