Welcome to Smiling River Lodge, a 4,191-square-foot stunner sleeping 14. This 4BR/4.5BA Black Butte home features two plush suites, a gourmet kitchen, and a luxe private hot tub. Tee off at the Glaze Meadow Golf Course, then head to the pools and fitness center steps away at the Glaze Meadow Rec Center.

LIVING AREA

Vaulted ceilings soar in the skylit Great Room, configured with a 65” smart TV as well as a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace (wood-burning). Entertaining extras include a full-size billiard table, a poker table, and a library of board games.

Curl up with a good book in the loft, detailed with a wood-burning fireplace and a foosball and ping-pong table.

KITCHEN & DINING

Indulge your inner chef in the gourmet kitchen, complete with ample counter space and stainless steel appliances -- including a double oven. The kitchen bar seats three.

Gather together beside a wood-burning fireplace in the dining area, furnished with a table for 12.

BED & BATH

Highlighted by vaulted ceilings, the primary suite has a king bed, walk-in closet, wood-burning fireplace, and direct hot tub access. The spa-like en-suite bathroom has a separate double vanity, a walk-in shower, and a sunken soaking tub.

The second suite includes a queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with a tub/shower combination.

Also featuring vaulted ceilings, the third bedroom provides four twin-over-twin bunk beds and a flat-screen TV. The en-suite bathroom features a double vanity, a separate water closet, and a walk-in shower.

The fourth bedroom holds two twin beds, while the guest bathroom is equipped with a tub/shower combination. A half bath adds convenience downstairs.

OUTDOOR AREA & AMENITIES

Surrounded by a sea of pines, your expansive deck includes a private tub, gas grill, and scenic alfresco dining space as well as a hammock and horseshoe pit on this forested 2.6 acre property. The National Forest is a few hundred yards away, just head out the back door and down the hill West between two houses through the forest access common space.

An easy 8-minute walk, the Glaze Meadow Recreation Center provides a wide array of amenities. Highlights include:

This two-story home is accessed via a set of three steps at the entryway.

The Ranch no longer collects a per person/day Guest Usage Fee at the Welcome Center. They are now having the property manager collect 12% of the rent and remit to the Ranch. This is an extra fee that is collected through VRBO just before check-in. You still need to check-in at the Welcome Center but will not be charged.

Coolest rental ever in BBR!
This is an incredible house for a family reunion or big group. Tons of living space, plenty of beds and bathrooms with showers, and such great amenities. We loved the pool table, hot tub, and game tables upstairs. The kids learned to play poker on the super cool poker table, and we enjoyed a couple of the games from the game shelf. The kitchen and outdoor seating on the deck made for a great location to host dinner. Freddie was super responsive to our few requests. Looking forward to our next visit there!

Black Butte Home
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Black Butte! The location of the house is wonderful, and a great size for our large family. Outdoor space was amazing as well as proximity to Glaze Meadow Rec. The house would benefit from a little more TLC in certain areas. We had babies crawling on the floor so carpets could benefit from deep cleaning. The indoor dining room table was huge, but had a couple chairs in need of repair. We ended up using the outdoor table due to wonderful weather, so that wasn’t really a problem for us. The owner is super responsive which is great. Lots of towels for the pool, and bikes to use around the Ranch. For a large family gathering we would definitely stay there again.

Great Home for Large Group
Truly enjoyed my stay at Smiling River Lodge. Plenty of room to move around, billiards room, large dining room table, and massive outside deck. Freddie (host) was extremely easy to work with and accommodated our early check in request with no hesitation. Would absolutely recommend this home to others looking for a great place to bring a large group together in Black Butte Ranch.

This home was amazing! We have a big family and there was plenty of room for everyone. A lot of games to entertain the kids and the adults. The pool is also a very short walk away. Great location! I would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful stay with a group of friends.
This house has room for all. We stayed with several families and had a wonderful time. The kids and adults had a great time playing pool in the living room and it was nice to have a pingpong table and foosball table upstairs for the kids. The host was very helpful and communicated quickly, especially when a friend thought she had left something behind at the house after we left. The garage was well stocked with extra TP and paper towels. There were lots of fun games and the house felt spacious and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay.

Pleasant stay in Black Butte
Great property overall. Pictures can't reflect how much bigger and airy the home feels in person. With 14 people we didn't feel crowded at all. Plenty of space for people to spread out. Kitchen was well stocked. With that many people, glad the home had dual ovens for food prep. Had some cleaning issues after we checked in. (not the owner's fault) But, the owner was very responsive and was on top of taking care of it quickly and making sure we were satisfied. Overall a very nice house and a good experience with this rental. Definitely would rent it again when we need space for that many people.

Incredible Home!
We had 6 adults and 3 kids staying for 1 week over the Thanksgiving Holiday. So many "wow!" factors from the Christmas Tree when you walk in to the many fireplaces inside, window seats everywhere and all the fun things to do. The rec center is an easy, short walk away. Black Butte and all its amenities were great as well. We will definitely be back!

Best spot for a BBR Wedding stay
We had a great time and loved this house at BBR. We stayed here with our bridal party during our wedding week and had a great time. The house was cozy and had great amenities— we loved all of the games and hot tub! Fred was so attentive and easy to contact. He was okay with us throwing our rehearsal dinner at the house and it was perfect for an intimate dinner! Thanks Fred, we will hopefully be back!!

We loved the house. The bunk room for all of the kids was very cool. They had their own bathroom and big play area attached to a loft with a ping pong table and air hockey. They even had their own refrigerator, though we didn't use it as they might spill. The other bedrooms were spectacular, two with their own attached baths. We had room to entertain and the outdoor was private, the kids enjoying the hammock and hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped and the dining room can seat twelve. The pool table downstairs also provided entertainment while others played cards in a separate nook. The fact that the house was walking distance to the pool was also great. We had an incredible vacation!

Great property for 3 generations family vacation.
Location is excellent for all things Black Butte. Walking, Biking, pool, and activities. Property is very clean and presents as stated in photos & descriptions. The only drawback for our group was that bedroom #3 has twin beds and we had 3 couples. The couple that lost the coin-flip. Still enjoyed their time but would have preferred a queen bed.

We can’t rave enough about this lovely, spacious home! Our 3 generation family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It has the typical amenities plus so much more. We made great use of the bikes in the garage. They are of varying sizes and in good condition. The board game and puzzle wall kept our teens busy, as did the roomy hot tub. The living spaces are well-designed and very spacious with plenty of room for 14 of us to enjoy time together. The outdoor grill is large and in good shape. The deck is roomy and sunlit. Plenty of seating for meals indoors or out. Beds were comfortable. Garage is stocked with extra paper products. The washer and dryer are new and large. There wasn’t one aspect of this home that fell short. The master bedrooms are large and lovely. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Check out the floor plans included in the description. The photos are accurate. The decor is great. The owners are responsive and helpful. We can’t think of any reason you would regret staying here…. Maybe a little one. We weren’t very happy with the coffee pot. Choose this home if you can’t decide among this and others. You will be glad you did!
