"I lucked into this small local hotel, which is part of a local public house. It's around the corner from the Stansted Mountfitchet train station, less than 5 minutes of walking. It was cheaper and faster to take the Tube and train than to catch a taxi or shuttle bus. I arrived late, after their kitchen was closed, but they helped me find a nearby restaurant with takeout, then set me up with cutlery and a pint. The room was cozy and QUIET. "A really welcoming group of people and a quick check in. Typical character building with wonky creaky floors but loads of charm. A bit cold in the room at first but soon warmed up with the heater. Lovely amenities and a great bathroom too. Good pub food for dinner, breakfast was OK (hard boiled poached eggs will always get a point deducted I’m afraid). Will definitely stay again though."
