Great Up North Spot
This was perfect for us. Ross Lake is gorgeous, and the cottage location was very quiet and private. Our family enjoyed canoeing, fishing and exploring the local area including hiking, waterfalls and shopping/dining in Munising and Grand Marais. We recommend it if you're looking for comfortable accommodations in a great up north spot.

Beautiful, quiet
Easy access to Pictured Rocks trails. Lovely spot on Ross Lake with lots of privacy. The cottage was clean and had everything promised. It is a bit of a drive to Munising, but overall I highly recommend.

What a great remote location. The host came by and asked us if we needed anything and even cleared a new spot for our boat. Great guy! We loved the fact that there was no wifi or cell services. Read books, hung out by the fire and made several trips into Munising. This will be an annual trip.

Wonderful hidden Gem
This property was the cutest little thing! They had everything you could need and the view over looking the lake was spectacular. There was a grill with charcoal, 2 canoes my girls and I enjoyed. The lake was nice and quite which is perfect for what we needed. We ventured out during the day to visit the falls, pictured rocks and Oswald bear ranch. My daughter forgot her summer reading notebook and the owner noticed right away, contacted us and is shipping it to us. If you are looking for a peaceful get away this is definitely your place

Wonderful House/Cabin
The house was amazing and everything we needed for our family vacation. We were able to use the canoes and other accessories we brought ourselves. The lake was not busy and the view from the house was absolutely stunning. The home itself is small but spacious. Never felt crowded. 10/10 would recommend if visiting pictured rocks as it is close by.

Very nice getaway - but some IMPORT WATCH-OUTS!
The lake and setting are beautiful. We took one of the canoes out and paddled around. Very memorably scenic and peaceful. The view from the cottage itself was also inspiring, as we would comment as we ate our meals at the table. However, we were not at all familiar with the area; and in fact are not accustomed to traveling in remote areas. If that describes you, read the cautions below, and make sure you book or prepare accordingly. (Seasoned off-grid travelers won't necessarily benefit from them.) 1) I suspected there would not be wifi, but was caught completely off guard to learn on our arrival that there is no mobile service in the area. Neither of these points are called out on the listing - not that they HAVE to be, but it would be thoughtful to have done so, particularly the latter. As it turns out, phone/text/wifi access are approximately 35 minutes away. 2) Therefore, upon arrival, I realized I had no idea what to do in the event of an emergency, for example, a medical one, or, less critical, a road impassable by our small car. There is no 'in case of emergency' sheet. The only thing I'd know to do is drive the 35 minutes to be able to call emergency services, or take my chances approaching a stranger's cabin door, which I'm not comfortable doing in this day and age except in the case of some extreme medical crisis. 3) Less urgently, if I needed assistance during the stay, I would need to drive that 35 minutes to be able to message or call the host. The property caretaker resides nearby, but I received no indication that it was at all appropriate to approach his cabin. At any rate, it's is surrounded by pens for the dogs he owns, which would make that intimidating. In fact, during our stay, the power went out in the kitchen. I struggled to find any breaker or fuse boxes, so we ended up not using the kitchen for the balance of the stay (I moved the appliances to the sitting area). In short, a very nice off-the-grid getaway place. Just make sure you are comfortable with the above and plan accordingly.

Wonderful property with everything you need for an unplugged vacation. The cabin is in a very secluded area and you feel like you’re alone on the lake. Star gazing from the dock was phenomenal! We decided on somewhat short notice to go up north for my birthday and feel truly blessed to have found this secluded space. We were able to do a lot of different activities within Pictured Rocks as well as canoeing and fishing on Ross Lake. Dave and Geraldine were fantastic hosts! 10/10 recommendation!

Perfect Quiet Getaway!
We had such a wonderful time at this quiet cabin overlooking a lake. There's a firepit, canoe to swim on the lake, a table and chairs, and other amenities to enjoy the outdoor spaces of the cabin. Inside the kitchen has everything you would need to make meals, the bedroom is cozy, and the entire place is so peaceful. It is perfect to get away from technology. One thing we felt the need to mention is that the road leading to the cabin can be time consuming and you should be careful navigating it during the dark and or if it's been raining if not familiar with the area. Thankfully we had all wheel drive. We enjoyed taking time during some of our stay to go to nearby Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore as well as some delicious restaurants in Munising. As a whole, we highly recommend this place and the kind owners!

Unique getaway
Everything we anticipated and more! True beauty surrounds this warm, adorable, and clean cottage. I got the upper north experience staying here yet was in a great location to still go to Munising and the waterfalls, lighthouses, and pictured rocks lakeshore. Being on the picturesque and quiet lake was very relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit as well on our last night. We met Geraldine and communicated with Dave prior to our visit. They are wonderful hosts. We really enjoyed meeting and talking with Geraldine. Thank you for a fabulous time in the UP!

Peaceful
My son and I went for a few days to this peaceful cabin. The cabin is nice and clean. It has everything we needed. We enjoyed fishing in the lake, catching bass, pike, and bluegill. The water was clean, often seeing to the bottom in the shallow areas. Day excursions to Pictured Rock was a bonus. Dave greeted us shortly after we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect getaway
How lucky we felt to stumble upon this beautiful setting and cabin. We didn’t mind not having internet or cell service at all. Each day we would go to Munising which was about 30 minutes away. One of our days in town was supposed to be for a kayak tour but it got cancelled so we went in the canoe at the cabin for a beautiful sunset ride. The host was very kind and even gave us milk for coffee. We would definitely stay here again!

Great little cabin on the lake!
This is the perfect simple cabin experience! It’s on a bluff overlooking a gorgeous lake and there’s even a canoe for you to use. Prepare ahead as there is little cell service and no LTE or Wifi on the property. Perfect for a getaway. Very close to Pictured Rocks and excellent hiking trails.

Quiet and secluded
Cabin was very clean. Location is secluded (other than being next door to the owners home), the lake is beautiful and quiet. This place is not for everyone, there is no TV, internet, cell phone reception. It would be better enjoyed in the warmer months when you can have a fire outside and enjoy being on the lake. We went at the end of September and it was too cold/rainy to really do anything, so we spend a long time bored in the cabin (we are millennials so we did not have the time of "self discovery" a lot of other reviewers seemed to have here!). Just know ahead of time there is not much to do in this house if the weather does not cooperate. It is down a dirt road, which when it rains gets very muddy, bumpy, and fills with pretty deep puddles. Glad we had our Jeep with us! Location is in between Munising and Grand Marais, so it is a good hub to explore the Pictured Rocks Coastline. The fall colors are in full force. The owners were very nice and stayed up until ~11:30 pm to help us find the house (pretty difficult if you don't know exactly where it is) so that was appreciated. Overall this place would be great for people looking to literally not have any connection to the worklife/internet, but that is not for everyone. Bring board games or other things to stay busy when weather is bad!
