If you’re coming through Sheridan, grab this chance to stay in an updated and inviting riverside cottage that’s new to the market and thoughtfully set up with the goal of attaining Premier Host designation. If you’re traveling solo or with a few others, this property offers a quiet, park-like, and private setting situated two blocks from Kendrick Park and six blocks from downtown.
This rental is centrally located in the community, but it has the feel of a more rural setting, thanks to the many cottonwood trees and lilac bushes on the banks of Big Goose Creek, which runs right through the back yard--about 15 feet out the back door.
When you first come inside, you are greeted by a sunbathed living room decorated with vibrant furniture arranged around the bay window, which is everything you would expect it to be. We highly encourage visitors to bring reading material to be consumed in that exact spot. If you’re between books, we will be sure there are a few in the hutch across the room. The living room is the heart of this rental, spanning approximately 14X18 feet.
The u-shaped kitchen area is fully equipped with the appliances and utensils you need to whip up a home-cooked meal while you’re on the road. Meals can be taken at the high-top table in the kitchen nook, which has large windows on two sides that overlook the creek. If you have a few guests, the dining area at the far end of the living room can extend out to seat six people.
Looking back toward the inside of the house from the breakfast corner, you’ll see a narrow hallway (it’s snug, dear reader—the doorways are precisely 24 inches wide) that connects the bathroom and bedroom.
The kitchen and bathroom are newly remodeled for comfort and space efficiency. You’ll find new windows through the main floor of the house, as well as small, thoughtful surprises set out for you in hopes you’ll feel right at home in our home.
The compact bathroom is stocked with a starter supply of toiletries. The showerhead is fitted with a chlorine filter, so you might notice improved hair and skin health after a few rinses.
The bedroom is set up with comfort and convenience in mind. Jet-setters and globetrotters will find the staple suitcase stand, dresser, chair, bathrobe, iron and board, but when you turn around from the closet, you’ll remember you’re not just in any dime-a-dozen suite. The plush queen sized bed will be ready and waiting with a cover and lots of pillows, footed by a rug that brings the room together.
Going back to the natural spaces you can see through the bright bay window, from the kitchen nook, or walking through the large yard, it’s important to emphasize the same care that went into the interior of this home also went into the west-facing patio. This back deck is new construction and situated with sturdy outdoor furniture so you can take a load off and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife thriving in their natural habitat.
On-site laundry and use of the one-car garage are included.
If this place sounds perfect so far, that’s because we believe it is very close if you’re looking for a small hideaway basecamp. However, in the interest of transparency, there are a few things that should be mentioned:
While the location of the rental is walkable/bikeable for many destinations, you likely will need a vehicle to get to grocery stores.
The upper level of this house has an additional smaller apartment. There is a quiet and kind renter there. You may hear them going up and down the stairs if you are doing laundry in the basement.
Because this house is situated within nature and so very close to an aquatic ecosystem, summertime birds start singing loud at sunrise. Wildlife are not required to maintain quiet hours before 9 a.m., and they may get after it as early as 5 o’clock in the morning both on weekdays and weekends.
We hope you will consider this letter as a wholehearted invitation. Your hosts at this home genuinely want you to have the best possible stay and hope to share the charm of our community with you for as long as you can be here.
