This lake home is 730 square feet of pure coziness nestled into the side of a hill overlooking Bashaw Lake. It's a unique in-hill “earth shelter” with earth against 3 of the 4 exterior walls. Earth acts as thermal mass, making it easier to maintain a steady indoor air temperature and therefore reduces energy needed for heating or cooling. Earth sheltering became relatively popular after the mid 1970s, especially among environmentalists. However, the practice has been around for nearly as long as humans have been constructing their own shelters. Just because earth homes are partially underground doesn’t mean they’re dark! Windows are found in every room of this cabin, filling the inside with bright light and beautiful views of the lake.
The entrance to the cabin is on the lake side. When driving up to the property, you may be confused about how to get inside. From the road, it looks like a roof placed directly in the ground. Don't worry, there's really a whole cabin in there! Just park your vehicle on the driveway, walk around to the side of the house and you'll be greeted with a beautiful view of the lake and your waterfront oasis. The cabin is single-level but you will need to walk down a grassy/snowy incline or 4 stairs to get to the door. Inside, you have access to a full kitchen, bathroom with shower, living room, and two bedrooms.
The primary bedroom has a king size Leesa memory foam bed for ultimate comfort and relaxation. The other bedroom has 2 bunk beds (full beds on bottom, twin beds on top).
If you plan to work remotely, there's 10mbps WiFi and a portable writer's desk that can be wheeled right onto the patio overlooking the lake so you can take remote work to a whole new level. Or escape from the daily grind and spend your entire trip on the lake, whatever you prefer!
Guest access - Vehicle required. No public transportation is available, including Uber/Lyft.
Please note that the floating swim platform (raft) belongs to the neighbors. Please do not use it.
