The Mountain Lodge at Granite Point

About Granite Point

Granite Point is a remote haven located on Resurrection Bay, just 12 miles from Seward, Alaska. Accessible only by boat or helicopter, the property features four private cabins and one larger lodge, all perched on a dramatic cliffside. This unique location offers unparalleled views of Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains.

For adventurers, Granite Point is a dream come true. Enjoy direct access to our private beach, hiking trails, and complimentary use of paddleboards and kayaks. Steps from your door, find world-class paddling—explore alongside humpback whales, sea lions, and porpoises while birdwatching, fishing, or simply soaking in the magic of the fjords.

Please note, this is a remote setting. To reach your cabin, guests will ascend four steep staircases and traverse a short 30-yard trail. As such, travelers should be self-reliant, in good physical condition, and prepared for a bit of adventure. We recommend backpack-style packing, as suitcases can be difficult to manage on the stairs. Be sure to bring gear suited to your activities, including sturdy hiking boots, full rain gear, and warm synthetic layers. Additionally, guests should plan to bring their own food and drinking water. The bathrooms provided are outhouses or composting toilets.

About The Mountain Lodge at Granite Point

The Mountain Lodge blends modern comfort with the untamed beauty of the Alaskan wilderness. Perched 150 feet above Resurrection Bay, the lodge offers panoramic fjord views where you can spot humpback whales, orcas, otters, and more. Inside, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a gas range, refrigerator, running water, and all the dishware needed to prepare delicious meals. For those looking to stay connected, we provide Starlink WiFi, powered by a renewable energy system, so you can connect remotely while surrounded by nature’s splendor.

After a day of adventure, unwind with a hot shower, relax by the cozy wood stove, and curl up on the comfortable couches. When it’s time to rest, retreat to one of two inviting bedrooms, each featuring a queen bed and private views of the ocean below.

Traveling with a larger group? Consider booking the additional four cabins at Granite Point — The Ledge, Fox Den, Pepper Creek, and Wolf Ridge — to experience the beauty and adventure of remote Alaska together.

Amazing stay!
The weather was terrible for our entire stay, but we didn’t let the non-stop rain get us down. It was a beautiful location with stunning views. We got a little fishing in from the beach and found lots of sea glass at low tide. They have a great DVD collection which we made use of during the rain. The wood stove was lovely and we enjoyed having a full kitchen. Thanks for a great stay.

Staying at the cabin is such an amazing experience. The location is stunning and the cabin is gorgeous! This was the place we were most excited to stay at during our trip, and it did not disappoint! Will definitely be back one day!!

Miraculous.
Our time at Granite Point Mountain Lodge was an incredible experience. As residents of Alaska, my wife and I wanted a very special place to celebrate our anniversary. She described it as a place where it is "natural to just feel still." We spent our days relaxing on the beach, watching whales while cooking and dining, and exploring the magical creatures in the tide pools below the lodge. While the setting alone is worth the price, the lodge itself is a miracle of a build. The raw, rugged landscape plunges into Resurrection Bay, making building sites extremely difficult to access, clear, and supply. Anyone partially familiar with building a home will be left wondering how this building, atop a cliff on the bay, is even possible. But not only is it a reality, it's luxurious, warm and inviting. Details and touches highlight the craftsmanship and pride of ownership of the lodge. Our appreciation of Alaska's scenery has had time to acclimate in our decade together. Had we not, it is possible the beauty of Granite Point may have been overwhelming to our senses. We will find out this summer since I have already booked our next stay, this time with out-of-state guests!

Exceptional Adventure
This was one of the most interesting places I have ever stayed. Immersed in nature and half an hour boat ride from Seward, Granite Point Lodge is a great way to experience the wildlife and views of Resurrection Bay. The kayaking and fishing was wonderful! Rockfish were plentiful and had delicious fillets for dinner. Lots of seals and eagles. The house was an engineering feat perched on a cliff 150’ above the bay. It was difficult to stop looking out the wide windows at the views. Highly recommend if you are physically fit to get up the stairs to the house.

Granite Point Retreat
Was the most memorable VRBO stay my family has experienced! Levi was an amazing host. He took us kayaking and shooting. Also he went above and beyond when we had a medical emergency with my daughter involving insulin supplies. He and the owner Jeff could not have been more helpful. I will book again with them no doubt! Thanks for the awesome stay and unbelievable service! Especially when we really needed it. Thanks again.

the views + beautiful hiking trail are amazing!
We had our "annual ladies trip" at Granite Point! As many of the other reviews point out: yes, the stairs are really something to be aware of (very steep; not safe for anyone with any physical ailments, & small children would make me very nervous). The views from the cabin/fire pit are indeed amazing! The hike behind the property is very steep, but truly incredibly beautiful (we are all from AK and really loved this hike). We were very grateful for the kitchen & all of it's amenities (it had everything we needed). It is worth noting (since we were not aware of this) that Granite Point is *not* secluded; the camp fire area is pretty close to the other cabin (we often heard the dog barking at cabin next door / kid crying next door) and people from the other cabins have to walk through your space to get own to the beach or up to the hiking trail. It did not feel as secluded as we thought we'd be; so it's worth noting to others who are wanting that experience. The compostable toilet smells really pretty bad and we were told to only use it in emergency situations (so you use outhouse). Due to the smell of toilet inside, it makes you not want to use the shower either. We were okay with not showering for two days - but just something to be aware of. Levi - the groundskeeper/property manager - was helpful with providing information and anything we needed. It was convenient to have kayaks/SUPs provided on site. Thanks for providing us with beautiful views & experiences for our annual trip!

We had a fabulous stay. It was everything we expected and more; great hiking, beautiful views, kayaking was the best, the lodge was exceptional! The property manager was friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met. He even showed up with fresh caught fish for us!! Delicious!! We would definitely come back for another stay. And we will tell all our friends about this wilderness escape! Thank you for sharing your little piece of Heaven!

Amazing Lodge, Worth the Climb!!!
We held our wedding here and it was absolutely gorgeous! The campfire area is just below the cabin, not down on the beach as we thought, which was great because it was super convenient for those who didn't want to go up and down. Folks should be aware that it is quite the trek up stairs and uneven ground to get there though, so it was a workout with all the food and gear for the wedding. Completely worth it though!! Levi was a great host, filling us in on various things and helping out when he could. The views were incredible and the setting was unlike anything I've experienced. And I grew up in Alaska, so I've seen a lot of amazing views. The beach was really fun too, hunting for sea glass and hanging out in the sun. Folks should know that you can't take the kayaks or paddleboards out without Levi's help or a guide though, for safety reasons. We loved our visit and can't wait to see the wedding pictures. Our family was visiting from everywhere (Maui to New Hampshire) and all said it was better than they could have imagined.

Off Grid Mountain Paradise
This place is awesome! hot showers in an off grid mountain cabin! pack moderately because its a hike up quite a bit of stairs to get up to the lodge. we rented a boat but there is a water taxi if you don't have a boat. Jeff was great to work with and so was all of his help. Levi is the caretaker and he is a great person to have around up there. we saw all kinds of wildlife while were out there. cant say enough good things about this place. i would love to come back here again someday!

Remote and Amazing
Jeff, thank you for building and sharing this place with others. This was the perfect getaway location for us. We were a little worried about the steps, but made it just fine. The setting is even better than pictures can capture. During our 3 night stay, we enjoyed sitting by the firepit taking in the amazing view, watching and listening to humpback blow their spout and splash in the water sea lions yelling, otters playing, Dall porpoise jumping, cruise ships pass by and bald eagles fly just overhead. This is our kind of "roughing it". We had water, electricity and comfortable beds and couches along with a full kitchen, plus the outdoor area with plenty of seating. Thank you also Jeff for encouraging us to spend at least one of our full days enjoying the property (I originally planned activities in/around Seward each day) but decided to adjust and leave one full day with no plans...it was a great and memorable day). We all wish we would have had added 1 more day to just enjoy the property. The water taxi was great, and we were blessed with great weather. Overall, my wife was a little concerned about this part of the trip since it is a bit out of our comfort zone, but absolutely loved it once we got there. Be sure to plan appropriately...there are a lot of stairs, but it is absolutely manageable. We left our big luggage in the car and just packed what we knew we needed in backpacks and duffel bags. We brought just enough but not too much food, and a few bundles of firewood. It was the highlight of our alaska trip which included some incredible experiences in Juneau, Denali and Whittier. We all say just being at the lodge was the best part of the whole trip. Thanks again Jeff for building and sharing this place.

Incredible experience for Alaskans, too!
From booking to departure, this was an excellent experience. We booked the “lodge” for two nights for 4 people and it was amazing. Be aware, the steps up to the cabins can be challenging when you have coolers and bags with you. Be prepared for all kinds of weather but don’t overpack, either. Jeff was so helpful any time we needed him including helping us out when one of us capsized on the kayak out in the bay. We had an amazing time exploring the area, relaxing in and outside of the property and taking in all of the whimsical details around the cabins. We saw otters and orcas, lots of sea urchins and star fish, and collected many pieces of sea glass from the beach. People tend to leave their condiments and other items behind so you’ll have lots of additional food items and ingredients to choose from- don’t take your whole kitchen with you if you’re staying in the lodge. Just the essentials! There is a shower and a composting toilet but you’re encouraged not to use them so come prepared for adventure and just embrace the stink. The “facilitrees” could use some lime maybe but the whole experience is truly Alaskan. Breathtaking and impressive. What Jeff has created is truly special. We are so happy to have stumbled across this property. Thank you, Jeff, for giving us such an amazing place to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary! We will definitely be back.

Dangerous, but amazingly fun! Loved it, but know...
Views, watersports we kayaked and were in the water everyday & experience were priceless. Loved it. That said, people should know the stairs are very steep and very long. Main lodge does have a composting toilet, but they want you to use the outhouse. Advertised a very isolated, which it is, but there are other cabins around you. Water taxi ends up being $50-100 per person not trip.

Amazing views, very clean cabin. Host very responsive and helpful. Well-stocked kitchen with gas appliances. The trail up the mountain is well marked and a great adventure. No wifi and almost no cell data service (which is fine by us, just be prepared).

Perfect Alaska Wilderness Retreat
Our family of 4 (kids 15 and 18) stayed 3 nights in the Lodge. It was very clean, comfortable, and the location is amazing! We saw an orca whale, sea lions, dolphins, bald eagles, and frequent fish jumping. We used the kayaks often, made campfires each evening, and spend time truly relaxing! A few tips - there are many steps (but very manageable with multiple trips or light packing), shower is great in lodge (outhouse is the bathroom), kitchen is well stocked with spices, condiments, and essentials. If you want to fish, plan to bring all of your supplies (some supplies may be left from past guests, but we understand they are not supplied by the lodge). Overall wonderful trip and we hope to return some day!

My favorite place in the world?
I've been to Granite Point six times now...and I don't live in Alaska. Is there really anything else to say? This time, within a couple hours of arrival, we watched a pod of Orcas swim by the bluff. I really can't say enough about the place, and Jeff is a gracious, charming, helpful host. If you're wondering whether to stay here, stop and just book the place now.

Rented the Lodge, the Fox Den and Pepper Creek Cabin for 2 nights with our immediate family and close friends. Had an amazing time with amazing weather! Total relaxation
With covid 19, we were looking for a safe place to stay while still being able to enjoy the beauty of Resurrection Bay. This place was perfect! Arranging the water taxi was easy and the entire grounds were impeccable. You don't get total privacy like that many places in the world. One day we kayaked to Porcupine Glacier, then next to Fox Island and saw a humpback breach! The place has everything you could need, and felt very comfortable. It was a one of a kind stay!

Spectacular!
This place is truly breathtaking. My husband and I took out the kayaks and fished about 200 yards off shore and caught several rock fish, lincod, small halibut and a few other kinds of fish. You can hike on a few trails by the lodge or take the kayaks around the bay and hike there as well. It is easy to get to and from the mainland. Either by water taxi or helicopter. We did both.
