We had a wonderful stay in the Walden! The cabin was perfect for our family of 3 plus our golden retriever! It’s secluded on the side of a mountain in a community with several amenities for families including a small dog park.
Very nice, clean, well furnished and private home that had everything we needed.
Hosts were very attentive, although during our stay we had everything we needed. Development was gated and felt very safe.
We had a great time!
This cabin is absolutely amazing! Private location, super comfortable beds, oversized fluffy towels (embroidered with the cabin’s name!), extra throw blankets, and even pet specific blankets, too - the hosts have nailed all the small details that are usually overlooked in vacation rentals. We loved staying here and so did the dog!
The Walden was everything we expected. Wonderful place to rest, relax and unwind. The location was great and the owners were responsive to any questions we had. Definitely will go back!
My family and I had a wonderful stay in our cabin in the woods. It was very private and peaceful. The cabin was very clean and we had no problem navigating around. It was close enough to everything ex ( gatlinburg, pogeon forge) . We would definitely stay again!!
We enjoyed our stay at the Walden. Road was very steep and winding but thats to be expected. Wasnt much area directly around the cabin to walk our dog but they have a dog park a short drive away.
We really enjoy our stay , I personally recommend this is property if you have dogs this is the best and the owners make you feel so welcome. And the best part the have this little dog park area were you can take you furbabies for a little run. 100% the best cabin
It was amazing! Everything was perfect!
Such a beautiful property and great host! I highly recommend this rental and we’ll be back very soon! Thank you! 😀
We stayed at the Walden or a family getaway/attended a family wedding. It was a beautiful cabin and everything the description described. Tara was a wonderful host and answered all of our questions. We had a very late check-in due to traffic, and everything went smoothly when we got there. We even brought our dog with us, and there were even blankets and dog bowls. We had a wonderful time.
The four of us and two dogs had an incredible stay here! We were pleased with the ease of finding it AND its remote-ness! We had virtually no other properties within a few acres of us, which was great because we didn't have to worry about letting the dogs wander. The cabin was beautiful, clean and so relaxing. Communication with the owners was effortless and helpful. We really wanted a secluded place to relax and this was absolutely perfect! Even the beds were comfortable and the showers had great water pressure. The mountain roads were easy to traverse if you're used to the winding roads (like I am), but might be a little intimidating for someone used to flat roads-- but still very doable! We really loved our stay.
With a family emergency shifting our plans, this turned into a wonderful time to rest. The cabin is very cozy and comfortable, with great views of trees, sky and other elevations. The kitchen has all you need to store and prepare food, and the dining table is spacious. The beds and linens are lovely. It is well cared for, and the owner is easy to communicate with. The driveway is intimidating to look at, but once you get to the top, it all makes sense. If you are looking for a getaway from it all space, this is ideal.
Tara was very responsive. She informed us of an issue with the electricity due to overnight storms. She said she would help us find a pet-friendly hotel if it didn’t get repaired before our arrival and refund the night’s charge. (It did get turned back on!) it was cleaned very well. We had a great trip!
My husband and I love to travel with our 3 fur kids! The Walden was very accommodating and we all had a great time. We would definitely recommend and hope to be back next year!
We loved there were wireless chargers in each room, that wasn’t noted but an added bonus!
Many others noted in their review there were not any grassy areas for your dogs to “go”. This is true but you are in the mountains, what do you expect! Our dogs were fine walking up and down the driveway and doing their business to the side of the road. I would recommend brining a flashlight, helps when they need to go out late.
We spent Christmas in this beautiful cabin with my daughter and her girlfriend. It was in the single digits and there were rolling brown outs the first couple of days and Tara was super sweet and accommodating even though the weather was completely out of her control. She was very responsive to every text or question. The road in the neighborhood and driveway was a little intimidating when the road was dry and the day we left had a few inches of snow covering it but we got out slow and steady. The cabin is just as described and very comfy. There was a Christmas tree, which made our Christmas Eve and morning wonderful. The host even left us a gingerbread house to put together, so fun. The hot tub was an excellent plus, especially with the snow falling. Thank you for a great experience!!
Our stay was a great getaway. The reason we give it a 4 star is only because our dogs are picky where they use the restroom. There is no grass around or really anything for them to use the restroom at the cabin. So every time they had to go, we had to load them up and take them down over the hill to the dog park area. Just a bit of a inconvenience.. We found the noise of the air purifier a bit annoying at first but after being there a few days we got used to it. The cabin itself was nice and clean. The location was ok but if you are wanting to do a lot in either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge be prepared to have at least a 30 minute drive there from the cabin. We were unable to use the grill because the bottom grate is broken and you can’t cook on it. Thanks again for having us!
We (4 adults and 3 dogs) stayed 4 nights. This host had one of the most reasonable pet fees, for multiple dogs, that I found in my searches. It took 15-20 minutes to get to the parkway that runs through Pigeon Forge. The property was as advertised. The cabin is clean and nicely decorated. We didn't use the hottub, but it looked very clean. If you take pets, there isn't much room for bathroom breaks which wasn't unexpected given we were on the side of a mountain. Linens were nice and plenty of towels were provided. The host was very responsive to messages through the app. Definitely download directions prior to going, cell phone signals drop out well before entering the Shagbark community. We did not use any of the community ammenities but they looked nice and well kept. Not a review of the cabin, but on the fridge is a magnet for PawPaw's Catfish Kitchen. If you like New Orleans inspired food, I cannot recommend it enough. By far the best meal of our trip. Overall this was a great place to stay!
Overall we were very happy with our stay, albeit a few cons. There were a few steep inclines driving to the cabin but that was to be expected, however I would recommend arriving before dark in order to navigate the roads easier. We also brought our 16lb dog and he is picky about where he does his business and there really isn’t any grass for him to use, so it took some time for him to figure it out. I was aware the the cabin was no smoking but I thought I would be able to sit on the deck and smoke a cigar. Both inside and outside are non smoking. In addition the chairs on the deck need to be cleaned before you can sit outside and it wasn’t worth my time to do it. Water pressure and quality of towels were great. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to use the hot tub but it looked nice but again deck needed to be cleaned.
Was a nice cabin in the mountain. Glad to be able to bring my dogs it was our first trip with them. Was kinda hard to take them potty outside because there’s no grass but it is a mountain so not sure why I thought it would lol. Didn’t have any issues with our stay and we did see a bear standing at the deck. Our portable cooler was on the porch and a raccoon came to steal it twice! Lol we are used to them so wasn’t a big deal but my husband had to go wrestle the cooler back. As far as location it is pretty secluded and not too far to the community pool which is nice but was a bit farther than expected to the city attractions.. no problem with traffic or anything though so that’s nice. I was pleasantly surprised that the hosts had more supplies than a typical rental which was a bonus! Lots of games, plenty of paper products, some salt and pepper, and extra blankets. Pool table could use some updated sticks with tips but I would imagine not everyone takes good care of the items so just having them is a gift. Hot tub was clean and nice. So overall I would recommend and we enjoyed our stay. Thank you
