It was the view that intrigued me to book this place! Outstanding, beautiful, and peaceful! The sounds of the water very relaxing. The cabin is on a tight, winding road about 25 minutes outside of Seiverville in the foothills. There are 3 floors , top floor has 2 bedrooms connected by jacuzzi tub and toilet. Beds are saggy, pillows lumpy and overstuffed…so bring your own! No ceiling fans in the bedrooms…so bring a bedside fan. Blinds in the bedrooms are bamboo shades that are smaller than the window and allow a lot of light in the room, especially from the outdoor Mercury light. Stairs are very short to step on and no hand rails anywhere. I feared falling every time I used them!
The basement bedroom has a nice balcony, but steep, short steps to get down to it and again…no railings! I planned on staying in that room, but having Long Hauler Covid and Heart Failure I would have had to go up those steep stairs with no railings, through the living area, up another 2 steps to the laundry room bathroom! Why, because the attached basement bathroom had no toilet…just a shower! Any person with heart/lung disease cannot physically trek those steps with nocturnal urinary urgency! So disappointing! Ended up going to town to buy a queen sized air mattress for which the kids then slept on in their parents room! Plus my 8 year old Grandson uses a walker to ambulate and that house was a disaster waiting to happen for him!
Shower stalls are tight and small. You can’t bend over to shave your legs and are VERY slippery! No rubber mats on the floor of the shower, then when you step out, the little rug slips out under your feet! I only showered twice the whole week for fear I would fall or injure myself. Though it’s a vacation home….it’s still a home and should meet some kind of safety standard! I wouldn’t allow guests in my home to risk an injury without safety features!
Then, the kicker is they don’t have garbage pick up at the cabin. Probably because a garbage truck couldn’t manipulate the curvy, mountainous, narrow road. So they expect guests to take their own garbage with them or haul it to the dump themselves! Well, we found the dump, which was close to 30 minutes away! We never stayed in a VRbo before and I don’t think I would ever again. I like to have my sheets clean and changed, garbage emptied daily, towels changed…we had to wash and dry our own towels at the cabin! Some vacation when you have to keep house!
