LOCATION:
Dollywood -16 miles 20-25 min
Pigeon Forge - 17 miles 25-30 min
Gatlinburg - 24 miles 35-40 min
The drive from Sevierville to our foothill's location is about 20 minutes with over 1/2 the drive on Hwy 411. The remaining 5.7 mile drive out to the cabin is very scenic on nicely paved roads with nothing excessively steep or narrow. That stretch is, however, typical TN, curvy, hilly, foothills roads. Folks not comfortable in maintaining the speed limit in that kind of driving will have a little longer travel time. Staying on the east side of Sevierville has advantages in reaching popular destinations with routes that avoid a lot of the Parkway traffic, including a route to Gatlinburg and Smoky Mountain Natl Park that bypasses Pigeon Forge entirely.
THE RESORT:
The cabin is just a quick 2 min. ride by car down the ridge to the Boat Ramp, Community Pool and Playground. There is a lot provided to park your boat trailer after launch. We offer abundant parking as we own both sides of the street with room for 2-3 vehicles or a truck and boat either side. This is a bit rare for a cabin in the resort. By staying with us you have the option to park your boat at the cabin rather than having to drop in the boat lot. The resort also features a walking trail and a clubhouse that can be rented by guests for large gatherings, wedding receptions, or family reunions.
The cabin sits on a ridge overlooking one of the fingers of Douglas Lake. The view is mostly obstructed by dense woods, which provide seclusion and privacy. The cabin is the first of three on a peaceful, quiet dead-end street. Douglas Lake Resort is a Vacation Log Cabin Community. There are other cabins nearby, but they are situated far enough apart and in a way that the deck areas are very private, and it feels like a private retreat.
THE LAKE:
The Boat Ramp and pool are available in season. Douglas Lake is a seasonal reservoir with the water level regulated by the Tennessee Valley Authority. Out of season the resort boat ramp is unavailable due to the lower water level. There are other locations on the lake to launch during the off season. The lake starts filling in April and is at full pool by Memorial Day . They start lowering it in September after Labor Day.
