"The front desk was not open at all twice when we went to check in. A third time we went back and they were kind but no one spoke any English. I couldn’t communicate needs (extra towels or glasses). The location says Prenzlauer Berg but this isn’t in the center of that cute area. It’s more on the outskirts. "I wasa confused when I arrived as there was no sign on the door to indicate this was the pension. The owner was very kind and came to let me into the room at 23.00. The room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed that the owner insisted on an extra EURO20 cleaning charge for the room. These hidden extras are a considerable annoyance. When you see a price on a web-site, you expect that price to be charged."

It became unclear what we were getting charged for and I had to use my translate app to work it all out. I know it sounds pretentious to expect German receptionists to speak great English, but we experienced better levels of English from almost every other German person we interacted with on our trip. "
