Isolated lakeside house, view of glaciers & volcanoes, good for day trips - new!

Herrukot, our holiday home built in 2015, is located in a gorgeous isolated location right on the lakeside. The house contains two separate bedrooms, each with very comfortable beds that are 90x200 cm in size, a bathroom with a floor-level shower, underfloor heating throughout the house, living/dining room with a pull-out sofa bed for two, and a completely equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, a ceramic-top stove (4 hobs), and an oven. With a floor area of 66 sq.m, it offers a relaxing vacation. Wi-Fi is available at no cost, as well as bed linen, bath towels, and dish towels. The icing on the cake is the 60-sq.m wooden terrace with its own hot tub and a fantastic view of the lake, mountains, and the Hekla Volcano. The house is somewhat isolated, though because of its ideal location in the Southern Region, it is great for winter stays. The Northern Lights are a completely different experience as there are no lights from nearby houses. Our farmhouse is just 400 m away, you can certainly ride out from our farm. Great Location - super relaxing - everything you need
Stayed here with two kids and two adults - fantastic location, very peaceful and quiet. Located about 5 km off of the main highway 1, it was a great central place to take in some of the Golden Circle sights and also going down to Vik and the Black Sand Beach. Rejkavik was also within reach if we desired, but we had a separate stay in Rejkavik. Would definitely stay here again.

This rental was a wonderful place to stay with her family and two kids it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked, nice bed linens and towels. The heating system was superb, and lots of opportunities to open the windows and French doors to letting some fresh air. The view of the frozen lake was spectacular. Lovely to hear the wind wrestling through the trees at night, and total tranquility.

Beautiful property
You can’t beat the view here! Gorgeous lakeside views no matter where you look, and occasionally you can see sheep and ponies grazing on the hills from the house. The hot tub is wonderful and the house is great for making breakfast before heading out for the day. 20ish minutes from Selfoss and centrally located for many things to visit!

Everything was great at this place. Renate was quick to respond and ready to help with anything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and always hot! The only thing to note, is that there are towels but not wash clothes.

First Trip to Iceland
Property was beautiful, overlooking private lake. A great place to relax and enjoy the scenery. Central to many outdoor attractions. Host was very responsive, and property was as advertised. If we ever get a chance to go to Iceland again, this will be where we stay. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

Absolutely stunning lake house with splendid views. Large windows, huge deck and a relaxing hot tub perfect for any nature lover or romantic getaway. Host Renate was communicative and helpful. Remote location is well suited for Aurora gazing. In a wonderful central location for excursions to Reykavik, Golden Circle and Vik. We are hoping for an opportunity to return to this fabulous house.
