A Log Cabin at the Banks of River Hvítá!

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GOLDEN CIRCLE!

This is a fully-modernized charming family cottage, located 20 min. from Selfoss Village. It is 65 sqm (=700 sqft) with two bedrooms (double bed and one semi-double), and a studio couch in the living room for one person, a total of five adults. It's open year-round for travelers. No smoking allowed, but pets are welcome. The cabin is fully equipped with all necessary kitchen utensils, dish washer, washing machine, hair dryer, complementary WiFi, and a three-burner Weber gas grill on the deck. Wood for both the indoor and outdoor wood stoves is provided. The 80 sqm (=861 sqft) south deck has a hot tub and both dining and sunbathing furniture. Parking for several cars.

The cabin is extraordinarily well decorated and homey, with an exceptional eye for detail. It's also ideally located on the banks of the river, in a beautiful scenic setting, in the middle of all the tourist attractions of South Iceland.

There's great view over Hvítá River from the cabin and short distance to all major nature pearls in South Iceland: Gullfoss and Geysir, Thingvellir, Kerið, Sólheimar, Laugarvatn Village, Skálholt, Arnarker, Landmannalaugar, Skógafoss, Háifoss, Thjórsárdalur, Jökulsárlón and Reykholt, Baula, Hraunfossar and Paradísarlaut in Borgarfjörður, and Keilir and Blóa Lónið on Reykjanes. The cabin is perfect for day trips to these locations, as well as to Reykjavík, since it is so conveniently located only an hour's drive from the capital.

The new swimming pool at Borg is extremely good for a country-side pool. It has small warm pots for children, play area and swimming area, and geothermical hot water, of course, which is standard for Iceland. There is another swimming pool up the road at Hraunborgir, only five km. away from the cabin, with sauna and spa.

There's only two minutes drive to one of the most popular golf clubs in Iceland, Kidjaberg Golf Course, and very short distance to the swimming pools in both Hraunborgir and Minniborg. There is a 15–20 min drive to Selfoss.

There's a Jetski rental at Lake Svínavatn and angling for example in Lakes Apavatn, Laugarvatn, Úlfljótsvatn, not to mention in Lake Thingvallavatn itself, as well as in Hvítá River which is located just in front of the cabin.

Hvítá is a salmon river and cabin owners in Kiðjaberg have two fishing canes/licenses in the river per day during the angling season. Angling fees 6000 ISK for half a day in 2022, or approximately $ 58. This is a special deal for cabin owners in this particular local area, and their guests, not available to others. The nearest lake, lake Hestvatn, also offers trout angling, free of charge.

There is prolific birdlife in the area, making it perfect for birding and birdwatching. There are also several beautiful hiking trails to be found, with breath-taking view over mountains, glaciers and the ocean.

Several glaciers can be seen from the Kiðjaberg area, such as Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull, Hofsjökull and Langjökull. The driving distance to Eyjafjallajökull is less than an hour.

It is also possible to do snowmobile tours, super jeep tours, glacier walking, ice climbing, riding lessons and horse riding tours, visit the cultural historical sites, in addition to experiencing the fantastic natural sites in the area.

Minimum stay is three nights. Note that included in our prices is rent of bed linen, towels, wood for the wood stove, electricity, basic spices and soap.

A part of the rental income is donated to Hordur Barddal's Memorial Fund for Disabled Golfers. Hordur founded the Icelandic Disabled Golf Association in 2001, in collaboration with the Icelandic Golf Association, and was the director of the board until his untimely death in 2009. He built the cabin, together with his late wife, Soffia, in the summer 2004.

Cozy Little Cabin
We absolutely enjoyed the peace and tranquility of this little cabin out and away from Selfoss! The stove was so nice to keep stoked with a fire for warmth. Johanna and her sisters were very friendly and provided great instructions. We will miss the place!

Incredible cabin
What an absolute pleasure it was to stay at this cabin. The view, the location, and the feeling were perfect. The sisters were quick to respond to any questions and could not have been any more gracious as hosts. This is a place I would come back to without question.

Fantastic home and location
We wish we had planned more time to simply relax and enjoy this beautiful home. We loved the wood burning stove. While we did not use the hot tub, we surely would have if we weren't out exploring the whole time. We had everything we needed. The hosts were very helpful with information prior to our stay, and check in and check out were seamless. We would easily stay here again!

Iceland - A dream came true
This beautiful little cabin helps to enjoy your stay in Iceland much more than without ;-) It is comfortable and cozy with a personal touch of its owners. The new hot tub with its great view is amazing and helps to relax after a long hike. The conversation with the sisters is terrific. You need help or have a question? You get help and an answer immediately. All in all: We enjoyed our stay so much and if we come back to visit the other half of Iceland, we let our trip start here.

Inspirational Iceland
The cabin is within easy driving distance to as many Golden Circle attractions as you want to experience. Very cozy accommodation, filled with the aura of family love, complete with all your essential needs for cooking. We loved our short stay here & would like to extend it next time if we are fortunate enough to return again to Iceland.

An Amazing Place
Our stay was absolutely amazing! Johanna and her sisters have a wonderful property with everything you need to relax and unwind during your trip. The sparkling wine upon arrival was a nice touch. We appreciated having plenty of firewood for a nice fire in the evenings and the view over the river was charming. The location is perfect to visit the sights in the Golden Circle without a lot of extra driving or time. We would highly recommend a stay here to everyone.

3 nights in Iceland
We got to Iceland in the evening. It was a relative easy drive from the airport considering driving in the dark. The directions provided are spot on. Location is perfect to explore Gulfoss waterfall, the Geysir and Hotsprings all in one day. Sellfoss is 20 minutes drive and offers variety of dinner options. The cabin was everything we could have wished for. Detailed decorations make it very cozy. The fire place inside is a great feature, and there is plenty of firewood provided. We loved to sit in the hot tub while it was snowing. Great cabin in a great location. We would definitely stay again!

Just perfect.
Iceland lived up to all expectations and more, the same can be said about this wonderful lodge in wonderful surroundings. Cosy and warm, well equipped and private with splendid decking overlooking the river with a great hot tub. We can’t thank the sisters enough for enabling us to stay. On the last day we had a great round of golf at a superb friendly club again in spectacular surroundings. All in all superb.

Perfect Cabin!
This Sisters' cabin was the perfect situation for my fiancé and I to explore the Goldern Circle area and beyond! The cabin itself was very clean, comfy, and cozy. There are grocery stores nearby for anyone looking to cook their own meals, which we did most nights. There are lots of things to see nearby, and this cabin was in a perfect location to see it all. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the outdoor hot tub as well! We faintly saw the northern lights from the cabin one night, and sunrise from the deck was gorgeous! We would definitely return on another trip!

Loved our time at cute cabin!
Cabin was small but beautifully sited with sweeping views to the river bend. Remote, yet some neighbors in site. Close to many attractions in south central Iceland. We ventured far and wide from this starting point. Owner was very accommodating. Visitors should check out the city pool in Selfoss. We went swimming every day in Iceland - outdoors! Either in a city pool or hot creeks. Donald Hall, Pasadena, Ca.

A little piece of heaven!
The sisters were more than helpful with every question that I had. The cabin is cozy and perfect. The beds are comfortable and there are no words to describe the view. Everything that you would want to do on the Golden Circle is all within a one hour drive. They also left us a bottle of champagne which was really sweet! I was outside on that porch all hours of day and night. It’s so peaceful!

Great short break in a secluded cabin!
We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of November / early December and loved it. We used it as a base to explore the sights of the golden circle and the south coast, and the location worked well for this. We made use of the fire on a couple of occasions and this made it very cosy! We used the hot tub on the last evening which was great, and also were lucky enough to see some northern lights. The cabin itself is pretty remote with only a couple of other buildings visible from it, and it felt very private. The bottle of bubbles waiting for us when we arrived was a nice touch! And all of the catering facilities were good - we were able to cook a couple of meals easily. One thing I would say is - there is a coffee machine there but it doesn't work - it doesn’t have the filter part, but luckily we got some instant coffee at the shop on the way there! We would definitely stay again! Thanks

Two sisters who booked two years in advance
We couldn’t have been more enamored of the cozy private cabin on the Hvita River. The view was beyond words and we spent most evenings grilling out and taking in the views and bird life after long days exploring Iceland. David my brother in law painted a watercolor of the river and gorgeous vegetation as a token of appreciation to Johanna, Sessie, and Fannie for allowing us to pretend for a moment that we inhabited this magical place. The only thing we found perplexing was how to use and adjust the rain shower heads in the bathroom but we managed and the large sink in the bathroom made hair washing easy. Perhaps some instructions for future guests would be warranted. Other than that we found everything we needed for cooking, grilling and hot tubbing. And the icing on the cake was the chance to see and get up close to an active volcano. We feel so lucky to have found your lovely cabin. Thank you!

Private, Beautiful, Incredible
My wife and I spent an amazing week in the cabin for our honeymoon. We were first greeted at the door by Fanney and her husband, they could not have been nicer or more accommodating if they tried. From every helpful detail on where to find things or operate things in the cabin, to where to find things in town as well as the delicious chocolates, strawberries and bottle of champagne they had left for us on arrival. The cabin was the ideal spot to come home to after a day travelling around the the amazing country and there was no better way to finish off the day then with a glass of champagne and sit in the hot tub hoping for a glimpse of the northern lights (we were unlucky in our attempts unfortunately). The cabin is just as described and looks even better in life then in the pictures. The sisters and their families have an amazing cabin with an amazing story behind the cabin, it feels extremely homely, warm and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend this log cabin to anyone and would love to hopefully return one day.

I truly loved it !
This is our first visit to Iceland. And to be honest, the country is amazing. Johanna and her sisters have a beautiful cozy place, not so nearby to Sellfoss, but for the people looking for gorgeous landscapes, nearby the Golden Circle, and intimacy , this is the place. We were just 2, and we were very , very confortable. The only missing thing is a pasta strainer, but the rest, you have more than enough. I like to cook, so I really used the kitchen. Everything workds wonderfully well in the house. My kudos to a great place and lovely owners. By the way, if you want to get there, and are spanish write to me, and I'll let you know the way-- at first we got lost, but people in Iceland are kind and a man who was fishing got his own phone to get the owner, and then we were off to the house. All in all, a great experience, a warm home , a lovely view.
