Exceptional Provençal Bastide with private pool and garden in medieval town

Seventeenth-century stone bastide set in 1.25 ha of landscaped grounds with a swimming pool and terraces in the centre of medieval Seillans, one of France's most beautiful villages. Enjoying spectacular views over the old town and the Esterel mountains. This historic property provides a unique mix of location, space, flexibility, privacy, and charm. All within easy walking distance of the facilities of the old town.

The house offers seven bedrooms, a kitchen, dining, living, reception, and conservatory living rooms. All with beautiful views over Seillans, the valley, mountains, and/or our private garden. The house has a maximum capacity of 12 persons and 10 adults (over 16 years of age) and is ideal for multiple family or friend groups of 12. Please note that these two capacity constraints are explicit limitations in our Rental Agreement.

Bath/shower rooms on each of the 3 floors of bedrooms. 1 GB fibre internet, Wifi, and free (VOIP) telephone calls to over 50 countries. The beamed living room offers cable TV, with French, English, and US stations, DVD, and Sonos music systems. Table tennis and table football are provided in the ground floor reception area. Attached single garage, that guarantees local parking.

The House Grounds: The house faces south and enjoys spectacular views over the village, surrounding countryside and distant Esterel mountains. The half-acre terraced garden is pleasantly planted with flowering shrubs, fruit trees and lawns. The garden is complemented by several paved terraces, which are each furnished with a mix of hardwood sun chairs and loungers. The shady external dining terrace is furnished with a 3m hardwood table and teak chairs and equipped with a large Argentinian charcoal BBQ. A 9.5m x 4.5m swimming pool, with an alarm, is also set on a sunny terrace.

The property lies in the heart of Seillans old town, overlooking the Place-de-la-Republic, Place-du-Thouron and La Gloire de Mon Pere restaurant. The Place-de-la-Republic is the principal village square and provides space for boules and car parking. As the principal village meeting place, the Place-de-la-Republic hosts various village events throughout the year, such as; a small farmers market, occasional antique fairs and the annual ‘Bastille Day’ celebration. As you would expect of such a central location in the old town, some noise from village work and life is inevitable at times.

The house interior is full of character, attractively and comfortably decorated in a mixture of local antiques and modern furnishings. The floors are set in marble or old Provencal tiles. The accommodation is on five levels, with half-landings between them.

First Floor Living Areas: The kitchen, dining room, and conservatory are located on the first floor. The kitchen is approached from steps externally and has a small shaded terrace. The kitchen is fully stocked with a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, and crockery and cutlery sufficient for the number of guests. The dining room leads directly off the kitchen and has a large oak dining table and chairs and oak sideboard. The dining room also boasts a wood-burning stove for use in the winter. The walls are hung with a collection of Provencal prints. From the dining room, a comfortable and light [triple aspect] conservatory/ sitting room is reached, which has stunning views over the old town.

Third Floor Living Room: A large beamed living room is located on the third-floor level. The room is double aspect with twin windows overlooking the garden and pool, with superb uninterrupted views of the mountains behind the village. Separate double french doors provide access to an elevated terrace with views of, and gated access [via steps] to the garden and pool. The terrace contains a teak table and chairs. An electrically operated awning can also be deployed to provide shade to this terrace area.

The living room is furnished with a modern large sofa suite, capable of seating 10 persons. The living room also contains a cable TV system, with French, English and some US tv stations, Blu-ray DVD, and Sonos (S1) music system. An extensive supply of DVDs are contained in 2 large teak bookcases, which also house a wide range of books and games.

Bedrooms: At the Ground level are two cool 'summer' bedrooms. The main double bedroom suite is large, with 'lounge' seating area, fireplace and french windows to the front of the house. A further window on the side elevation boasts beautiful views over the old town to the chateau. Leading off the main bedroom is a large family bathroom and further bedroom (2 single beds & cot) suitable for children. Please note; that the second bedroom is only accessible via the main ground floor suite.

On the second floor, there is one double, one twin and one further (small) double bedroom. These bedrooms are served by a bathroom with a bath and shower.

On the fourth floor is one large double bedroom suite, with a dressing and seating area. And a further bedroom comprising 2 singles beds. This floor is also served by a further bathroom. All bedrooms contain fitted wardrobes, cupboards, bed side lights and each has superb views over the old town and/or panoramic countryside views.

Please note that bed and bath linen is added to the basic rental sum for the number of guests identified in the booking confirmation.

A large basement utility room provides a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. Access is also provided to the attached single garage. A further basement pool room houses lounger cushions, parasols, and a small selection of pool toys.

Quintessential French Living in the Heart of Seillans
An old but, comfortable and roomy manor house in the perfect location to enjoy all the charm of Seillans, but also the nearby villages and the natural wonder of the Vernon Gorge. We were able to cook and barbecue our meals with food from the local markets, but also enjoyed eating at the variety of excellent cafès and restaurants in the village. The owner and the property manager were super responsive, which made for a stress free and fun week. We are already trying to plan our next visit there and bring our grandchildren.

Wonderful stay at beautiful villa In Seillans
My friend and I stayed in this villa in 2015 and wanted to return. We invited 5 friends to join us and we had the most wonderful week. The villa is just wonderful—comfortable and inviting. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner outside under the arbor drinking local wine from a nearby Seillans winery. The hosts recommended several day trips to us that we enjoyed so much. I highly recommend this villa and I hope to return someday soon. I would love to rent it for more than one week!

Exceptional experience
This old charming big house in perfect location (centre of medieval small town) became home for a week for our big company of 12 people: three families with small children. Best things: pool, lots of space, many dishes and glasses, all the equipment you need, amazing views from the windows. So the stay was very comfortable. Things to keep in mind: no air conditioner (upper floors were warm, but there were air fans in each room), lots of stairs, smell of an old house. Best for those who are looking for authentic experience, Provance feeling. Managers are very friendly, easy speak in english, react fast if you have a problem. Overall, we all realllly liked this villa. We made lots of good memories there :)

Another Wonderful Visit!
Always great to be back in our favorite villa in beautiful Seillans. This was our 10th time here and as always we enjoyed every aspect of the property, especially the perfect location overlooking the pétanque courts, our favorite restaurant,La Gloire de mon Pere, and the village itself. With plenty of bedrooms for everyone and the large dining room, it's always the ideal place for our large group of friends. We can't wait to return next year.

Loved the outdoor bbq and patio
We enjoyed our stay. The house is big with lots of bedrooms and three full baths. The best part was the outdoor bbq and covered patio. If you have any mobility issues, beware that there are steps everywhere on every level. The village was disappointing. It is beautiful but not much there. Owner and property manager were great.

Another Week in Paradise
We visited this property 11 years ago for my 50th Birthday and had the best time, so coming back I was glad to see everything remained the same and the experience once more was everything we'd hoped for. Andy is an exceptional host , his communication and helpfulness is 1st class. let's hope it isn't another 11 years before we're back.

Lovely Villa!
So wonderful to be back at our second "home" in beautiful Seillans! The villa is ideally situated in the village, walking distance to restaurants, a 10 minute drive to wineries, and across from the pétanque courts. With 7 bedrooms, beautiful pool and very pleasant terraces we could hang out together or find a quiet area for some alone time. We have already booked our 2023 return and can't wait to get back! Wonderful property.

A wonderful home
We stayed in this beautiful home with two families: a total of 4 adults, 4 adolescents/teenagers, 2 teenagers and 2 kids. It worked out perfectly. The house and garden are large enough for all of us to spend time alone, or with each other. To swim, to play table tennis, to read a book in the garden, to FaceTime with friends in one of the sitting rooms somewhere in the house, to stroll around in the lovely town or just sit on the upper terrace of the house and enjoy the view. The pool is a great plus and safely fenced off, the younger kids (7 years) could go and get bread at the bakery in town on their own(traffic is low and slow), it was just perfect. We found the house offered everything we needed: we were able to cook for 12 people, we used the barbecue several times, and there were some great restaurants at walking distance. We stayed during a very warm week, but the walls of the house are thick, there are shutters everywhere, and in each bedroom there was a fan, so even the bedrooms on the top floor were rather comfortable, we slept well. The outside terrace of the restaurant just next to the house can be a bit lively on a weekend evening - but that stops before midnight, and church bells may wake you up on Sunday morning. Nevertheless, we found that to be part of the wonderful experience of being in the center of such a lovely historic town. Day trips to Nice(<1hr), Gorges du Blavet (30 mins)and Lac de Saint Cassien (20 mins) made our vacation complete.

Perfection at its best
I stay here yearly. It is such a perfect villa. Neat clean and tidy. Very comfortable. The property manager becomes your best friend and can help you with any needs. If you would like to live like a local. Stay here. The villa holds 14 but I feel 12 is perfect. Large pool and outdoor areas for you to enjoy. Grounds are so beautiful. The aroma of the flowers walking up to the door is something you will never forget!

The perfect place for all ages
Our family group of 12 has just returned from a heavenly holiday in Seillans. The house is so roomy and flexible, well equipped and comfortable, it's easy for all ages,18 months to 76 years in our case, as well as being beautifully located in a beautiful village amongst beautiful villages. When we could bear to leave the pool, we enjoyed eating out, specially at the Auberge Provencale in Mons, snorkelling in the Isles de Lerins off Cannes and water play at the Lac de St-Cassien. Oh, and the markets, those at Fayence, specially. But mostly we just spent our time enjoying the house and garden and pool. Thank you to you Andy, and all your family. I hope we can come again.

This is a fabulous spacious house in the most beautiful village. Highly recommended!
We spent a week in this Seillans house in July 2018 with family from Australia, Canada and the Caribbean. Everyone loved the beautifully decorated and well equipped house. The pool was fabulous. The village had lots to see and perfect location with easy access to the Cote d’Azur. Would love to go again!

Perfect family holiday
This was our sixth stay at Les Hirondelles. As ever the house was the perfect base for all ages and dispositions - those who wanted to go out and explore, some had to work and others who stayed in and read by the pool. It is a beautiful house in an exceptionally gorgeous village with walks in every direction and two small galleries and a museum in the village. We ate out at several lovely village restaurants, special mention to La Gloire de mon Pere opposite the house, and had a trip to Fayence market but apart from that it was very easy to do very little, which is what we did!

Wonderful celebration house
We were a big family party to celebrate my 70th and the house was perfect. My Australian grand children they likened it to a castle!!! It was ideal for the different ages and the house was really well equipped for the grandchildren with games, table tennis and much more. It really was a special house and I would recommend it to anyone without reserve.

Delightful house in a quiet environment for socializing and spending wonderful time together
We have just spent a wonderful week together in the house with a big company of three families including many children. The house offered something for everyone. Beautiful mornings on the terrace, cozy moments under the olive trees, the sun or in the pool. Lovely evenings in the back at the barbecue or at the french restaurant just in the corner. Seillans is close to the major cities at the french Riviera, and nearby several vineyards that we visited during our stay. We had a marvelous week and loved every minute in the house.

A dream come true!
I planned to share my 50th birthday celebrations with friends in France and came upon Maison Hirondelles in Seillans. I booked it and then waited in anticipation for my trip of a lifetime. When you book something online, you hope that it is going to be ok, look like the pictures. I wasn't disappointed, it was fantastic and myself and 6 friends thoroughly enjoyed our week. The house had everything we needed, plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy, and enough space to get away from it all too. The village is picture perfect and the locals made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed a couple of day trips, to Vence and Eze to the north, La Napoule and St Raphael to the south and Gorges du Verdon to the West. Nice airport was an easy 60 minutes away. The hosts were incredibly helpful in the planning of the trip and very well organised to welcome you. Overall, I would highly recommend booking a stay at Maison Hirondelles.

Fabulous Hilltop Village
Friends and I stayed at this wonderful property - perfect for exploring the area (up to the local mountains, surrounding hilltop villages, Grasse, Antibes. Fully equipped kitchen, great BBQ area (we had birthday steak and veg), and plenty of room to spread out and enjoy ourselves. I think the terrace off of the family room was the best place to enjoy our dinners, though the loungers around the pool were a close second! Each couple had their own bedroom/bathroom floor (nice!) We went to a couple of the local restaurants in the area (Chez Hugo for drinks and the one right across the street from us for dinner. Both were terrific!!) Love the bells chiming during the day and to see the locals play bocce ball at night. This was our second year to the property and I hope to be there again next year.

Third visit
This was our third visit and it was every bit as good as remembered. This time we came with two other families with children 16 to 23. Everyone had a terrific stay, enjoying the peace of the house and village, and only slightly less peaceful outings to Faience for the Tuesday market, and every day for a walk from the village. Super U provided all our cooking needs, the village boulangerie perfect for morning croissants and the restaurant across the road could not be a more lovely setting. We did miss the bottom of the hill bar and were sad for them that the village cannot support a second bar. It seems astonishing that such a beautiful village is not swarming with thirsty tourists, but at the same time, mostly it's a relief that it's not.
