A small box room with the bed pushed into one corner. There was no bedside table or anywhere to put our belongings, except a very small high level & impractical shelf. The view from our room was of the property wall 2 meters away & with no communal comfort areas at all. A road passes immediately outside the property with noisy motorbikes passing continuously.
The walls had squashed mosquitos & cobwebs in the corners, we are by no means pre-madonnas & this would not usually bother us, but this is a $70 room! The sheets had orange stains & when we raised this with the manager she said she would change in the morning, after we had spent the night in them!
After an uncomfortable first night being woken at dawn by the passing motorbikes, we decided to check out as we were dissatisfied. However, the manager said as we had booked online she could not offer a refund for the remaining nights. We then spoke to Hotels.Com (booking agent) & they said that payment had not been made & they could charge us for just the one night we stayed. The manager said she would need to speak to the owner. Needless to say, she was not able to get hold of the owner nor during the remainder of our stay. As such we were had no choice but to remain.
Koh Lipe is an expensive island & budget accommodation is limited, but for the same price, we could have had a clean, good size beach bungalow with private bathroom, air-con, storage capacity, space & no noisy road.
