Good area, it is closed to Downtown.
It was a good experience when thinking about DR(Dominican Republic). The area was good because there were so many people walking all over the streets. There were buses nearby, which are very cheap, but we were chosen to take taxis for all of our times in DR because it was safer. Mr. Oscar so many times called the taxis for us, and we just let the drivers know where we wanted to go. The fare was not too much, but because we did not have Dominican pesos at first one of the drivers double the money, and we ended up to triple the money for tips.Over all, taking a taxi is very cheap over there. Some drivers charged 200 Dominican Pesos; some charged 300 Dominican Pesos, and some charged 250 Dominican Pesos, which equals to $ 4, $ 4:50, and $6 US. for almost the same locations. However, if you are travelling, make sure you have someone who speaks some little Spanish; otherwise, it would be very disappointed for you. Further, you have to make sure that you have changed your US dollars to Dominican Pesos; thus, you may end up hungry because some of the stores do not accept the U.S. dollars.

Great place to stay in the heart of the Capitol if you need to take care of business by visiting multiple government offices, plus it is close to tourist things to do.

Fantastic!!!!!!
Oscar was great!!! He knew the answers to every questions and added great suggestions for thing to do. The guesthouse is a old remodeled mansion in the colonial district. The rooms were very clean wit great air conditioning. A great kitchen to cook and two patios to relax. I could spend a month there and never get board.

Great bang for your buck!
My 2nd time here, and it was as good as the first. It's a B&B with shared bathrooms, but they weren't an issue. The room was small, but clean, and the a/c worked great. It's a short walk to El Conde, and also the Malecon, where I enjoyed watching karaoke on Saturday night. Not a place for those seeking luxurious accommodations, but a great bang for your buck.Oscar was nice enough to make me breakfast Sunday morning as well.

Staying again.
The front desk is super helpful and spoke English. Lots to see in the area and it's just a couple blocks from the Zona Colonial and across the street from a hospital. I felt very safe with my two girlsfriends.

wonderful stay
I just came back from there. The help desk people are very helpful and nice. For a hostal/little hotel it is a very good one. Rooms are not spacious but enough for short stays and just sleep. This place is walk in distance from Calle Conde, which is the shops passage and downtown. Safe hostal. The address is not correct on the websites. It's not Calls B. It's calle Bernardo Pichardo. Call before you take a taxi at the airport.

Great place to stay for the price!!! Can't beat it
Carlos and the staff are helpful, and they help make your experience great! Santo Domingo B&B is the best priced hotel night stay in Santo Domingo. A/C in the rooms, clean sheets, clean room, clean bathrooms to share, and a nice little breakfast (toast, eggs, coffee). Not too bad for <$30 USD/night !!! You are allowed to use the kitchen facilities to cook your own meals. The kitchen is stocked with all the utensils and cookware you need, except for a microwave. The surrounding neighborhood is not too noisy at night, too.

Samto Domingo Bed and Breakfast
It would have been nice to have a chair in the room. The staff were helpful and some spoke good English. They misinformed us about getting a bus to Samana and took us to the wrong station but I should have checked online. The hotel is walking distance to the Zona Colonial and Malecon waterfront but in a quieter (but not quiet) neighborhood .

Good place
This place has breakfast in the name, but when I asked about breakfast I was told they didn't do breakfast because their prices were so cheap. So not a very good name. The room I picked was supposed to have 2 beds and a TV. It only had 1 bed (which didn't matter, as I was alone) and no TV. When I told them, they brought me a TV from another room. I thought that was cool of them. The TV came with Netflix on it, but it wasn't connected to any cable or anything, so it wasn't possible to watch television programming. I thought that was odd for a hotel, but it didn't matter to me. Other than this I had a good time here. The two front desk guys were super friendly and helpful, and they were cool with giving me extra towels (which is often not my experience in Mexico and Dominican Republic).

Nice and clean rooms close to the old town
Nice, clean room, friendly and helpful staff. Great for a Day or two's stay, not too far from the "Main street". Had a nice kitchen too with alot of kitchen supplies. Aircon is a big plus in that heat. The shared bathrooms was always clean.

Just Like They Said
This is the place to save money and still be close to shops and attraction. A taxi is less than a minute away. Everything was spotlessly clean. But we did share a bathroom with 4-5 other people. The only surprise was that Expedia did not bill my card--I had to pay cash at the Hotel--they do not accept credit cards. One other thing: breakfast was included and it was delicious and filling. I rated the comfort a '3', but you might rate it higher if you like a very firm mattress. A/C was good and WiFi worked. See more on Trip Advisor.

Great choice in Santo Domingo
The owner was really a nice person and he helped us in everyway. This place is located on a quiet street and room AC worked perfectly that allowed us sleep very well. Good breakfast as well. Supermarket and restaurants are in 10 minutes on foot. Rooms are small, but enogh space for price. I definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a budget and comfy place to stay in Santo Domingo.

Exploring the Colonial Centre
The B&B is just on the edge of the Old Colonial area of Santo Domingo. We were able to spend several days exploring the area on foot. Oscar and his staff were always very helpful. Oscar and several of the staff spoke good English and gave us helpful information about where to eat and how to get to the Colonial area. This is budget accommodation and we knew we would be sharing a bathroom with others. We are in the recently retired age group.

Aware of sharing bathroom
The staff was very friendly, the hostal is very clean, but instead of a big room for 6 people that I originally rented they gave two double rooms, besides we have to share bathroom. They mentioned that the Expedia page should have mentioned that. I rented using hotels.com and unless I did not see it the information was not there, We originally were supposed to travel in a party of 6 people, we finally only travel 04. But I paid for the 6 people room. Beside this initially inconvenient and the bathroom sharing thing, lets say it was ok.

Could not have been any better!
We arrived really late at night and were still greeted with a smile - and in English. Free purified drinking water. The staff was helpful to the extreme. When we had to pay an unplanned visit to the German embassy the next morning, someone helped us with preparing the documents, driving us there, etc. They really care about their guest's well-being. Breakfast (included) was excellent. They are in a totally QUIET street and still in walking distance to Zona Colonial sights. Thank you for a VERY pleasant start of our vacation!
