Host not Responsive with Check-in problems.
PROS: The apartment décor is as advertised. The apartment is nice, clean and in a secure building. The location is in a safe area and walking distance to many restaurants as well as the malls.
CONS: When I arrived at check-in the front desk representative did not have my reservations. I attempted to contact the host Francisco at the local number he provided if there was any problems and he never answered. I then contact the VRBO 800 number and informed the representative that I had a confirmation booking was having problems checking in, and they too could not reach Francisco either. After waiting an hour luckily for me I decided to have my friend who was Dominican and spoke Spanish text the number that Francisco had initially provided me and someone responded immediately, stating they don’t have a reservation under my name and to send any communications through a rental pproperty company. my friend reply that I did not book through another company, i bookedeed on VRBO. At this time, the person responded sorry. I was then finally able to check-in. It should be noted that during this entire process, the person at the number Francisco provided me would never answer or respond to any calls I made from my USA cell.
I highly, recommend you consider other properties unless the host is going to provide clients with a contact person that can be reached in case of an emergency. I was fortunate in this situation to have that I had a friend with me who spoke Spanish and local
