Luxurious Lake Front Property/Families/Couples

The property has 2 cleaning ladies/cooks (from 8am to 5pm, 1 hour lunch) if needed. The property also comes with a gardener during the day and a night watchman. The owner may be contacted for emergencies or logistical problems.

Cerro De Oro is located near the cities of Santiago and San Lucas Toliman (roughly 15-20 min car rides).

Guests will be given access to the entire house/lake front property, which is 2 acres with array of stunning views

The property is over 5,000 square meters, including private dock, beach area with shower facing the lake, patio area overlooking the lake (with bbq and comal), vegetable garden, fruit garden, fountain area and garden (with bbq), gym area, and parking lot.

The house itself is 240 square meters with 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 4 televisions, wireless internet, 4 Firetvsticks for streaming (NETFLIX included), Downstairs living room with bar, desk, poker table, and couch, Full kitchen, Upstairs Movie/TV room, and a balcony overlooking the front yard.

Car, Shuttle bus, Tuc Tuc, Boat

Chalet Maldonado comes with Wireless Internet and Firetvstick for Streaming. Both of these services may encounter problems based on weather patterns or natural disasters affecting electricity. Electricity is lost at times due to weather or problems with the Electrical Company. We will do our best to fix the problems, as soon as possible, but these problems are uncontrollable.

Also, due to the isolation of the property and the dirt roads to reach the property we recommend driving an SUV, taking a shuttle bus (directly through a 3rd party provider, at an additional cost, that we may recommend) or taking a boat taxi to the house (directly through a 3rd party provider, at an additional cost, that we may recommend).

Directions to the property will be sent once the property is booked. We will do our best to help you reach the destination without inconveniences.

Upon adding additional guests after booking (house accommodates a maximum of 8 guests) the following will apply:

A fee of $100 (per person/per night) will be added or the original price must be renegotiated with owner.

The house internet is an unlimited satellite-based service from Cerro de Oro that has a speed of 30mbps. 4 Firetvsticks for streaming (NETFLIX included). Local maintenance is provided by the service provider but the internet signal may encounter problems due to weather or power outages in the area.

DO NOT drink or cook with sink water as all house water is from the lake. Large jugs of clean water are provided!

Welcome to paradise
I’ve had the opportunity to travel more than most for work as well as pleasure. I’ve stayed in 5 star accommodation hotels across the US, Europe, Asia and South America. I’ve enjoyed Vrbo’s in North, Central and South America. With that said, Chateau Maldonado is in the top three places I’ve stayed ever for three reasons. One- the area and the view. The home sits on a picturesque location that looks like it could be the set of a romance movie. Perched on a cliff above Lake Atitlan (the worlds most beautiful lake) and with surrounding views of the local villages and majestic volcanoes and mountains, the view from this home would be hard to beat anywhere in the world. Whether you are sitting on the patio enjoying your perfectly prepared breakfast (I’ll get to that next) or sitting by the fire on the black sand at night, you could literally just stay and enjoy the view for days. Be sure to visit the local villages though as they are wonderful. I highly recommend San Juan. Carlos (caretaker) will arrange a private boat for you to and from any of the villages. The boats are safe and highly reliable. Reason Two- the staff! Carlos is your caretaker along with Roberto the gardener (yes a full time gardener looks after the home as is apparent when you see the landscaping from perfectly manicured lawns to hedges trimmed in the shape of various animals (my wife took tons of pics of this alone lol). Carlos looks after anything you need like arranging boats, grocery runs and building a nightly campfire. He is terrifically attentive when needed and disappears into the background when not. A quick text via WhatsApp and he appears to do anything you require. The ladies, these two are Amazing! Merilena and Concepcion attended to our culinary and housekeeping needs daily. When we checked in we have them some local cash (not much, so I thought, about $250) and they arranged to have groceries purchased. Every day we had breakfast served on the patio overlooking the lake, every night we returned there was a delicious dinner waiting. On our second night they had prepared Pepiàn De Pollo ( a local favorite) that was the BEST meal of our whole trip. Keep in mind we ate at several 5 star restaurants in Antigua during this vacation as well! When the stay ended I was amazed that they returned half the money I gave them with a detailed receipt of monies spent! These 4 made the stay in my opinion. Lastly,Mr. Maldonado. From the first contact to the last, perfecto!

Best stay ever!
Absolutely the best HomeAway property we have ever stayed at! From the communication leading up to our stay, to arranging for private boat transportation during our stay, and many other details, David went out of his way to make our stay the best possible stay! He was very patient with all of our questions and helped us plan our trip! The property and house are extremely clean and beautiful! The sights and views from the house are stunning and pictures cannot do it justice! Our family of 8 was very comfortable and we enjoyed every aspect of our stay including the home made fresh tortillas, bonfire, outdoor lounging and coffee. When we were unable to find decent groceries on our way to the house, Carlos, the watchman for the house, escorted me and my wife into town via Tuc Tuc so that we could shop for groceries and supplies for our group during our stay. Anything we needed or requested was arranged for. We cannot stress how accommodating and how clean and how fun our stay was. Every bedroom and every room has a breathtaking view. We will definitely stay here during our next trip! My father is already itching to go back and rent the house for next time!

The place was immaculate and the experience relaxing
The staff, was excellent from keeping the place clean to starting fires at night and teaching the kids how to make tortillas. The property itself was well taken care of with everything we needed. It was a vacation within our vacation. The nicest place I’ve stayed at and highly recommended.
