★ About Your Cottage - #6 Edison - Blue Door ★
Built and open for guests in 2022, a California Craftsman style Santa Ynez Cottage welcomes you with a generous 450ft2 of space and the long sightlines of a Studio floorplan. Included is a master bathroom with walk-in shower, kitchenette, sitting & dining/work areas, a spacious 200ft2 front porch with bistro set and rocking chairs, and thoughtful features and premium amenities throughout. Also included are free on-site parking spots several with Level 2 Electric Vehicle chargers (see specs below). From here, a short one minute walk takes you to downtown Santa Ynez where you’ll find several of the best restaurants in the valley, tasting rooms, museums, and unique shops. There is even an authentic saloon and a custom cowboy hat shop – both appropriate for this town where ‘Wine Meets West’.
“The farmer’s doors are fun”. You will arrive to find a robust 2-piece Dutch door with a keyless lockset. On check-in day, you’ll receive a 4-digit code that will grant access to your cottage throughout the duration of your stay. Once inside, feel free to open the top section to let the fresh air in. It’s fun to imagine so many shops in the Old West days of Santa Ynez with their Dutch doors open for business. Pro Tip: While only the top section has a lockset, the top automatically catches the bottom section so that both are secure when the door is shut and locked.
“I had the best night’s sleep”. We source our mattresses from a small-batch custom manufacturer in Los Angeles. Each is a semi-firm pillow-top mattress cradled by an authentic Amish made cherry or oak bedroom set. Feel the silky luxury of 600 count Egyptian cotton sheets and an ample number of pillows to satisfy all pillow-preferences. Your cottage features 2 beds: a California King and a queen which makes it perfect for 2 couples or families.
Look for two luggage racks in your cottage. Prefer to unpack instead of living out of a suitcase? Feel free to unpack into an armoire with hangers and drawers. You’ll also find additional drawers in the night stands. Feeling wrinkled? Look for an iron and ironing board also in the armoire.
The master bathroom features a walk-in shower, plush towel sets, premium amenities, and terry bathrobes. You’ll even find special Make-up washcloths there.
Your kitchenette features engineered stone counter tops over custom built cabinets. An apartment sized refrigerator/freezer is a whisper-quiet model made by LG specifically for studio apartments that holds plenty of drinks, goodies, and leftovers for a multi-night stay. A microwave, Keurig coffee maker and composite sink with garbage disposer complete the countertop setup. An array of glassware, dish and silverware are also included. Unfortunately, the Fire Marshall prohibits any formal cooking but with the abundance of great restaurants just a short walk away, we don’t know why anyone would want to cook anyway! Pro Tip: If in-room dining is preferred, most in-town restaurants offer their menu items to go – keeping in mind that most kitchens stop serving at 8:00 or 8:30pm.
If an evening of entertainment is in order, you’ll find a 43” TV with Roku streaming stick. Pro Tip: Be sure to bring your login credentials to your favorite streams. Fast WiFi keeps the movies streaming on our TV or your laptop.
The weather in Santa Ynez is usually friendly with Summer highs in high-80’s and Winter lows in high 30’s and an average of 287 days of sunshine each year. The area will see some Summer days in the high 90’s and some Winter nights in the low 30’s. Additionally, at all times of the year, it does cool off at night rather quickly once the sun descends. Pro Tip: Packing a light jacket is always a good idea. Whatever the weather outside might be, in your cottage you’ll find a high capacity mini-split unit with frosty A/C and toasty heat all controlled by a handy remote. Not familiar with mini-splits? Not to worry. Look for operating instructions on the wall under the unit.
Want to spend some electronic-free quality time together? Look for puzzles, board games, and cards in the kitchenette cabinets.
Finally, you’ll find three Tesla Destination chargers in the parking stalls between Cottages 2&3, 4&5, and 5&6. The silver charger is 240V/40A while the two white chargers are 240V/30A. Technically, 40A charges faster than 30A but all work great for overnight charging. Chargers are available first-come-first serve but don’t be shy to ask someone to share who might otherwise lingering. EV etiquette is important for all to follow. Pro Tip: Be sure to bring an adapter if your non-Tesla EV will accept a charge from Tesla units.
