AMAZING split-level Adobe, Historic District, Easy Walk To Plaza & Canyon Rd.

Casa Grande is only 0.6 miles Canyon Road, the epicenter of Santa Fe's finest galleries and restaurants. Walk to the La Fonda at the Plaza in 24 minutes or so (1.0 miles). Explore four world class museums and a botanical garden on Museum Hill within 1.0 miles.

This wonderful custom designed/built contemporary Pueblo Revival adobe home has soaring 12-14' foot viga ceilings on the main floor with floor to ceiling glass walls with views of the chamisa arroyo garden and the mountains to the north and west.

Our home is decorated with new and antique furnishings, Southwestern and Native American art, antique Japanese and African furnishings with antique Navajo rugs throughout. The main floor is finished with the traditional silky hand-troweled, diamond plaster walls, 10 skylights and wide-plank, hand-scraped antique floors. The exteriors of the main house and casita were completely re~stuccoed in 2015. The entire property has been exceptionally well maintained and is dramatically landscaped with aspen, blue spruce, pine, honey locust and apple trees.

The main floor consists of the entry with powder room, the great room, a huge master suite, dining room, adjacent kitchen,, a breakfast nook, and an office/library. The great room and the master suite open to the L-shaped balcony which wraps the back of the house and overlooks a lovely high desert garden. A curved staircase leads to the three downstairs bedrooms and the laundry.

Warm yourself by one of the fireplaces in the living or dining room on chilly Santa Fe nights. Enjoy the gourmet-equipped kitchen, a dining table seating ten which was handcrafted by the original owner/designer and a matching handmade center island table in the kitchen. Counter-tops are granite and slate.

The master bedroom is quite grand by Santa Fe Historic District standards and has 12' ceilings and two walls of windows, and a glass door opening onto the balcony. There is a king bed, a walk-in closet and a second closet for additional space. The en suite bath has a dressing vanity, enclosed shower and a Jacuzzi tub with a separate, private WC.

Downstairs are three bedrooms, one kin with queen beds. Two of the bedrooms share a Jack and Jill shower. Each sharing bedroom has a water closet, lavatory and vanity and the two bedrooms share the single shower. Each has ample closets and storage in the banco seating. The larger downstairs bedroom has a private entrance which opens onto its own patio. The other has a small, private cactus/dinosaur garden outside its window.

The third downstairs bedroom has a private entrance, a shower/tub and a Pullman style kitchenette with sink, two-burner range and under-counter refrigerator. This room would be perfect for a family traveling with an Au Pair or companion/aide. It performs well as a third guest bedroom.

Each bed has new down and down alternative pillows and Comphy brand luxurious spa linens. The pillows and mattresses are encased in hypoallergenic covers.

The main floor has central air and heat with radiant heating in the floors throughout. Each bedroom on the guest floor has its own thermostat and baseboard heating, and each bedroom has a ceiling fan. They are cooled by AC.

Casa Grande is 3,100 s.f. in size and sits on almost a half acre. There is one available garage space for guests and ample outdoor, off-street parking. There is a 1000 s.f. casita on the back of the property which is occasionally by friends of the owners.

The fully-equipped kitchen is roomy and light-filled with natural wood finishes. The kitchen leads to a ramada-shaded outdoor dining area and our extensive garden areas. There is a full-size washer/dryer in the utility area.

We use perfume-free and dye-free Seventh Generation and Mrs. Meyers cleaning products throughout the house, the mattresses and pillows are encased in hypo-allergenic zipping covers, we use only organic products in our landscaping and engage a organic pest control company for regular, preventive treatments in our house and gardens.

Perfect in every way!
The art is so spectacular you’ll feel like you’re staying in a gallery. The furnishings are very comfortable and in keeping with the design of the casa. The kitchen is well stocked with all you will need. The garden is also beautiful. The location can’t be beat. Casa Grande really is the perfect place to stay in Santa Fe!

Perfect home
We had four couples and we cooked, relaxed, walked everywhere and had a wonderful time. The home is beautifully equipped with a fully stocked kitchen, grill and wonderful furnishings and art. We have sort of adopted this home as our home away from home. The multiple patios are just gorgeous. Ed is so responsive and kind.

Great location--close to everything!
Loved our visit. My only criticism is that the downstairs does not have AC as listed in the description. Santa Fe does get warm, and the house was stuffy downstairs when we arrived. But overall, a great place and location to stay.

Wonderful house, located within easy walking distance to the plaza. Great outdoor spaces!
The house had everything we needed and more. Very comfortable and spacious. Nice neighborhood and easy walking distance to the plaza and Canyon Road. There were multiple outdoor spaces perfect for sitting outside enjoying morning coffee, a meal, or a glass of wine in the evening. The house had everything we needed. We plan to return.

Pretty Close to Perfect....
"Historic Eastside" is superb. The descriptions and photos are spot on. Four couples had a tremendous stay...plenty of room to spread out and gather when we wanted. The weather cooperated with a great snow dump for skiing....we are already planning to return in a different season to avail ourselves of the beautiful outdoor settings.....both the local managers and the owners were quick to respond to any questions or instructions. Hope to enjoy this great home again.

Great house!
We were a group of 7 and this house was perfect for our stay. Since it was raining we didn't get to enjoy the outdoor spaces, but there are some really nice patios and balcony's here. One thing we LOVED was all the beautiful artwork all over the house. This house was roomy, and super comfortable. We locked ourself out once, and fortunately Pamela rescued us with a phone call helping us find the hidden key within minutes! Thank you for the beautiful homestay!

Amazing house with wonderful location
Four ladies stayed at this beautiful home which is equipped with everything you need. Photos don't do it justice. We were always finding a piece of artwork that we hadn't noticed previously. It was a perfect location for us to be able to walk to town, hike, shop and enjoy the delicious restaurants. Alarm system was a challenge, but with the owner's assistance we conquered it. Sitting outside on the patio after a hike was the best part of the day. We agree that this is the place to stay in Santa Fe!!!

Girls' annual trip to Santa Fe
We had a lovely time staying on the property. There were 4 of us and we each had our own bedroom and bath. Two of us shared a jack and jill shower arrangement, but the nice thing was that we both had our own dressing area with toilet. The property has 3 patio areas and wonderful art both in the house and outside on the property grounds. Wifi is available; however, the downstairs signal is weak, so we did our "surfing" upstairs. The owners were very responsive and provided lots of tips for restaurants and activities prior to our arrival which were valuable in planning our itinerary. We look forward to our trip next year and hopeful that the COVID restrictions will be in the rearview mirror.

Memorable Christmas!
It’s always a pleasure staying in a Santa Fe property owned by Ed and Marilyn! This home provided the perfect layout for grandparents to be on the main level of the home with a lovely master suite and two grandchildren and their parents on the lower level with three bedrooms (and washer and dryer!). We enjoyed the wonderful collection of beautiful Santa Fe art throughout the home. The kitchen is amazingly well stocked (and when Ed called, and I noted one tool that needed to be replaced, it arrived the next day via FedEx). The outdoor “rooms” with chimenea, well-planned lighting, and new gas grill provided us wonderful venues for dining al fresco. (And, yes, the weather cooperated even for Christmas lunch outdoors.). We love Santa Fe visits and love this property!

Amazing is the perfect word for this property
This house is beautiful, perfectly laid out for a large group to share, and in a perfect location for both walking and conveniently accessing the route of wherever you want to drive to. As others have mentioned, the house is equipped with everything you need down to the smallest detail. ( Extra backpack? yes. Condiments in the fridge? yes.) And the owners and their manager do an excellent job of communicating both before and during your stay. But, all the above is not why this is such an exceptional stay. The reason I give this property 5 stars is that when you stay at this house, you know you are in Santa Fe and nowhere else in the world. The structure of the building, the landscaping, the furniture, and the art all add up to a wonderful total package. It added so much to our overall experience. Many thanks to our hosts. We hope to return again.

Art-Filled Home In Downtown Santa Fe
This property is the cleanest VRBO house that I have ever stayed in, from the entrance to the most hidden corners. It also has every appliances that you can dream of to realize all your cooking wishes. The family made a point to stock the house with several cofee options for their expresso machine, extra toilette paper, dishwashing soap and also clothe washing detergent. The master bedroom is secluded from the other bedrooms and the mattress is very comfortable. The owners have an extensive art collection and the house is a showcase for their pieces which makes it understandable why children are not allowed. This property is located on a silent street, the town center is within walking distance, and the art galleries on Canyon Rd are a short stroll away. Within a ten minute walking distance we can also shop at a boutique grocery store ( Kaune's ) where we can purchase vegetables, italian chocolate, french cheeses and good wines. Whole Foods and a top quality bakery (Sage) are both a short car drive away. Ed and Marilyn made us feel welcome and at home in their beautiful Santa fe property.

Perfect Santa Fe get away
Eight of us, one large family spent Christmas week at this lovely home. First off, the house is far better than the pictures and has everything you might need for an extended stay. It's large enough that we all had privacy and the internet is good enough that the kids were able to work while there. Although we didn't have a chance to use the back patio it is also set up for spending evenings outside. We have lived in Santa Fe in the past, and we were familiar with the location, and the ease of walking to Downtown Subscription for coffee or Canyon Road just to hang out. We walked from the house on Christmas eve to see the farolitos, which proved very convenient, we walked downtown on several occasions and just walked the nearby streets. The kitchen is completely stocked, and our foodie crew managed to use just about every pot and pan. The owners were kind enough to forward us a list of recommended Santa Fe restaurants and we managed to try most. The only piece of advice is bring slippers or indoor shoes. We took our shoes off at the doorway so we wouldn't track mud in and discovered the composite floor, although very pretty, shreds socks and leaves splinters. I still have several in my feet. Having said that I would return in a heart beat. Great place!!

Santa Fe perfection
My wife and I have been visiting the Santa Fe area for more than 30 years and, without question, of all the lovely properties we've stayed in, this is by far the most stunning. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a beautiful bouquet just inside the doorway and two chilled bottles of Gruet bubbly in the fridge! But, stepping further inside, we were in awe at the art work, furnishings, and absolutely gorgeous outdoor property and amenities. We've previously stayed in Ed and Marilyn's smaller casita just down the street and have admired their wonderfully displayed art pieces there, but here in Casa Grande the presentation and quality of pieces are equal to any of the galleries in Santa Fe. Needless to say, we immediately fell in love with this property. It is absolute perfection and serenity and these sentiments were shared by the three other members of our party who arrived a few days later. There is nothing a guest could want or need that is not provided. We're just back at our home for a couple of days, but are already checking our calendars for a return visit to what we now consider our other "home" in Santa Fe. Many thanks, Ed and Marilyn. Best to you both, Charlie and Ann H.

We had a group of 4 couples, with one couple across the street. We had a wonderful wine dinner with all 11 of us one night at the big dining table and we fit perfectly. We enjoyed the outside terraces and feeding the birds. The location was perfect an the home was so tranquil and the neighborhood quiet. We are coming back next year!!
