I chose this place because it was rated above 8 and said "very good". Pros- The room had been recently renovated. The shower was large and new looking. The cable tv worked well. Bathroom was nice and new. Cons-I stood in the office for more than 5 minutes and rang the bell 4x before anyone showed up. Not much seating in the room. Just one larger chair and two bar stool type chairs. Not very comfortable. As soon as we got to the room, my wife turned on a lamp and the shade and light bulb/socket almost came off. We called in the attendant, and she said they were having lots of issues with them. The room is very small, but I knew that. There are no drinking glasses. Just 2 cheap "throw away" plastic cups. The ice bucket was a cheap small plastic one. Weird light fixtures on the wall. The room was quite warm when we entered, and the ac didn't come on after lowering the temp for 20 mins. No screen on the sliding door. Would be nice. The kicker for me was we came here because it was pet friendly. I never saw anything about a pet fee when I booked (Expedia) I told the girl I was surprised by this and asked her to show me where was written. It took her 2 minutes to find it but there it was. So bad on my part. It would be nice if it was right there next to the words "pet friendly. So I had to pay $50/pet, PER NIGHT! And, they add sales tax to that. So a $150 room ended up costing me $262. I learned a good lesson. But I will not stay here ever again. Be sure to shop around!

Room was freshly renovated. The entire complex is clean and super cute. Across the street from the wharf and extra close to the boardwalk. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

What a beautiful, quaint little hotel in such a perfect location!! Newly remodeled, clean, cute rooms with an amazing view of the ocean and boardwalk. Free parking and the nicest front desk staff. I will be returning to this hotel anytime I come to Santa Cruz!!

Was advertised as "ocean view". While technically that's true, it was a very small, obscured view from our window, and you can't even really keep the window open because of people constantly walking by and looking in the room, had to keep the curtains closed. Certainly not anywhere near the caliber of ocean view I'm used to from previous ocean view stays at other resorts. In addition, the room was super dirty. Toilet was disgusting. The curtain rod in the shower fell down multiple times. The room itself was run down and not well maintained - could at least use a coat of paint on certain areas. Some of the guests in a neighboring room were having some kind of get together or party and were incredibly noisy for several hours, talking very loudly, even yelling at some points. No doubt anyone who was staying in any of the rooms in the place could have heard them. I understand it wasn't at night, but was still incredibly annoying. The management there should have at least told them to tone it down. Lastly, the service was not the best. Took us forever to check in (I've never had this experience anywhere else). We were originally told our room wasn't ready, though another couple was able to check in even though they came early as well. We came back a few hours later when they told us to come back and were then told they would "check" if our room was ready. Fortunately it was, but it still took close to 45 minutes to check in even at that point. Not recommended at all

It is small, beds are uncomfortable, we ended up having to downgrade because the AC didn’t work in the room we originally started in. The shower curtain rod falls on you when getting out of the shower.

Worth it! Great room, location, and service
We stayed in an upstairs ocean view king room. The room was clean and had a great bed/linens. There were recent updates of flooring, wallpaper, and fixtures throughout. The shower was spacious, modern, well-lit and clean. The service was friendly and responsive. We interacted with three different front desk people, all were great. The balcony offered a fine, but distant view of the ocean and boardwalk. The location was great. It's a short walk to the beach, boardwalk and wharf. Parking was available in the main lot as well as an overflow lot right behind the building...super easy. Overall, we were quite pleased, we'd recommend the Seaway to friends and family, and we'd be happy to stay here again.

My family had a wonderful experience! The staff was extremely courteous, polite, knowledgeable and full of wonderful recommendations. One side note bring your own soap if you plan to bath because what’s offered is more of a gesture than something functional.

Let’s start off with the view that was advertised. There is a glimpse of the ocean mostly the dream inn across the street the photos of the room very deceptive what I didn’t know is there would be no drawers to put my clothes. No proper closet to hang my clothes and put my luggage away, they had a table and two chairs. One chair was not able to fit around the table the bathroom, the sinks too big for the countertop. There’s nowhere to put your stuff in the shower. Those no shells for soap or shampoo. You open up the back window, you have a view of a trailer park and all the old stuff that was pulled out of the renovation . They could’ve used the space where the tables at to put a nook there a proper closet put the TV on the wall and put a small table chairs in the corner and would’ve been perfect if I had known what I was really buying into I would’ve paid more money and stayed across the street and had a real ocean view .

Fabulous! I figured I’d be an “ok” beach motel but it was updated with very accommodating service! Great locations def recommend 🙌 I was surprised by how modern and spacious the shower was.
