We stayed for a couple weeks. The house was comfortable with lots of spaces for family to enjoy together. Very historic and authentic NH house. We loved it. Very convenient for swimming and hiking.

Comfortable and Convenient
Chick’s Corner was very comfortable for our stay and convenient to a variety of different towns and villages. The home, which has been in the owner's family since the early part of the 20th century, is filled with historic charm but has all of the modern conveniences today's travelers appreciate. Everyone who slept in the downstairs bedrooms agreed that they are perhaps the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on. While we got zero cell service (perhaps a blessing in disguise), there is great wifi so you're still able to stay connected should you so choose. Most noteworthy, though, was Brendan's incredibly fast response to any questions we had as well as his desire to ensure our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. It was a unique start to our two-week New England summer vacation.

Classic Farmhouse Charm
This spacious farmhouse is a trip back in time. It is filled with lovely antiques, braided rugs and folk art paintings, yet has comfortable beds and a fully equipped kitchen. The large bedrooms easily accommodate the king-size beds, and the living room has lots of room for the entire family. We enjoyed sitting in the screened-in breezeway during a rainstorm. The property has been in the current owner's family since 1947, and you can easily imagine the kids running through the house and yard. The wide-plank floors are a little uneven, but I'm sure you would be as well after 200 years. We also had a very brief encounter with a small, four-legged local, which the host warned us about beforehand, and is not surprising in a farmhouse. Swimming is only a 5 minute drive to Squam Lake. You can also take a 10 minute drive to the Beede Falls trailhead; they were running full after all the recent rains this year (wear your swimsuit for a cool swim!). We also enjoyed our visit to Castle in the Clouds (good hiking there as well). The local restaurants were never very crowded, and offered great food and friendly service. Overall, we enjoyed this house very much, and were fortunate to have had the opportunity to stay in such a classic property.

Wonderful old house and plenty of room for lots of people. Don't follow GPS directions though it sends you to the wrong end of road.

Sandwich Notch Treasure
We stayed at Chick's Corner for almost a week living the way we would have wanted if it were the last five days we had on earth. From access to trails, mountain biking, the delightful Sandwich Notch Road and all the fire trails with their logging roads emerging from it this area is absolutely spectacular in fall. The nature is gorgeous and there is lots of it with plenty of hills, mountains and ponds to treasure if your skills, interest and fitness allow. Wildlife is plentiful, we saw all kinds of tracks around and encountered a pair of moose, mother with her calf at the nearby intersection on Smith road. The waterfall, the hills, the cellar holes invite you into a beautiful story and would encourage anyone to pick up the book "Road Through Sandwich Notch" written by Elizabeth Yates whose efforts helped save the area and turn it into National Forest. There are also other trailheads not far with access to the White Mountains' Sandwich Range in Ferncroft, one of our favorite haunts this time of year. The property itself is well kept, clean, with everything in good working order. The house has enormous character with the owner telling us it belonged to his grandfather. It's full of very particular antiques and makes you feel like you are living in a dream.... *THE* dream given its location. The beds were extremely comfortable too. Many rentals seem to be the dumping ground of the worst beds imaginable which otherwise would have found their way outside your curb on trash day but not here. What a nice feeling to be able to crash in the comfortable acoutrements after these challenging days. This would be an ideal location for a large family or several families/sets of friends to come with intent on hiking, mountain biking or kayaking this splendid area. Which is what we did!!!!!!! =) I am glad we came across this property in such a unique location and will be planning another adventure in the spring to bike the Kancamagus highway one day with road bikes and the trails with our mountain bikes the other. I feel blessed to have experienced a place like this. I will leave you with the comment another fellow rider advised us on the trails. He had moved from Portland and spent time across the United States even in the beautiful Southwest and Colorado through his life. He told us was that only Western North Carolina on the Tennessee border offered such access to top notch nature and cycling like Sandwich NH. I highly recommend this property!
