This is a rather new property built in a historic section of El Centro. Unlike other properties coming into the market, Five Queens Hotel is not intended for the ultra-luxury client but offers modern conveniences and a fantastic vibe throughout. Be prepared for stairs here - there is no elevator but assistance with suitcases is freely provided.
I would have liked to rate an overall 4.5 here because there is room for improvement. There is a wait time for hot water on some days (just let it run) and the internet can be slow in the rooms themselves. The hotel does include daily breakfast prepared from scratch by the lovely staff, although you may find yourself going out for some mornings to experience some of the excellent breakfast spots close by.
The outstanding staff truly made my stay at this hotel special! They felt like family after 5 days and their response time through WhatsApp was incredible. (Yes, get the app for all things SMA)
The location is close to everything, I walked everywhere without issue. The typical noises of the town are muted a bit with Calle Loreto being a one-way street that is not traveled as much during the nighttime hours.
Finally the hotel roof terrace offers outstanding views of sunsets and the monuments from two levels. Take a bottle of wine up the stairs and you’ll experience these serene experiences without the crowds (and prices) of the “famous” sunset views touted by many nearby restaurants!
