Location, Location, Location
The location of this two bedroom , apartment together with the owners helpful and attentive help and suggestions made our stay successful and comfortable. I particularly enjoyed looking down from the balcony early mornings and watching the city wake up. I recommend this apartment where location and comfort are needed.

Great location
Apartment was clean and inviting. Lots of towels provided if you plan a beach trip. Convenient washer and dryer. The location was excellent for access to Viejo San Juan. Grocery store steps away, as well as delightful restaurants. Beware of early-morning "plaza cleaners" who park the truck under the front window at about 6 am!

Nice apt in the heart of Old San Juan.
Great place. comfortable. Plenty of space. Clean and airy; no need to use the air conditioning at all; there was a nice breeze. Loved being on the Plaza. Very convenient. I would stay here again - any day. Absolutely no complaints at all. Thank you.

Lovely old charm apartment in Old San Juan
I have been to PR many times and this was my first stay in OSJ. Ramon's apartment is in a great location with live events on the plaza during the weekend. Apartment is large, roomy and comfortable. With the availability to open all doors and windows it really was not necessary to run the AC. It was great staying in OSJ and being close to so many wonderful restaurants and near to all the historical sites. I will definitely stay at Ramon's apartment in future stays in Puerto Rico. Thank you Ramon

Creating Memories in Old San Juan
My husband and I celebrated our 25th anniversary with our first trip to Puerto Rico. This apartment was a perfect base for us as we explored the old city and took day trips to other sites on the island, such as the El Yunque rainforest, Loquillo Beach, and the bio bay at Fajardo. The apartment is very clean and comfortable and the location is superb. Because this is a very old city, expect old infrastructure, such as an antique elevator, separate water spouts for hot & cold in the sinks, and a shower that could be exciting with its hot water sometimes:) But the internet worked fine, the air conditioner and fans kept us cool in the April heat and humidity, the view from the deck was wonderful, and the apartment had many comforts and amenities. Ramon was very responsive and attentive. We would definitely recommend this place. So much better than staying in a hotel!

Wonderful Experience
The moment I entered this apartment it was love at first sight. It is evident that the owner put a lot of thought into what would make it a home away from home. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. There is even an apron and cook books. The apartment overlooks the Plaza de Armas and I loved hanging out on the balcony all times of day and night just taking in the scenes of Old San Juan. The entertainment center is great as is the owner’s taste in music. Afternoon naps on the futon in the front room are a must. The grocery store is just a few steps away. We enjoyed great meals and a cooking lesson at Airenumo on Calle Luna just a five minute walk. We were very comfortable in this great apartment in the best location in Old San Juan. I am hard pressed to think of anything more the owner could have done to make it more appealing. It is evident that he takes pride in it.

Stay in Old San Juan was magical
This listing had so many pics showing not only each and every room in the apartment, but views from its balcony as well. What the pics did not show, was how breathtaking the views actually are. Not only can you see the San Juan Bay to the left, but you can also see a little patch of the Atlantic Ocean to the right, in addition to the famous Plaza de Armas. The apartment was not only clean and well-maintained, it was very nicely decorated with beautiful art and framed photographs on the walls. This made us feel like we were actually staying in someone's home as a guest. Which we were; Ramon's home. Ramon goes the extra mile to make sure that you have everything you need and answers every and all questions. He even provided a list of some of his favorite restaurants in Old San Juan. Two that he suggested were El Jibarito and La Mallorca. We did try to go to El Jibarito one night for dinner, but they were closed for remodeling. And we regret that we did not make it to La Mallorca since that was also recommended by someone else. We did go to Cafe Puerto Rico for a couple of dinners which we really enjoyed, as well as Cafe Mannolin for breakfast. We also stumbled upon El Convento and had lunch and dinner there which was also very good. The Super Max grocery store which was half a block away was also a godsend for filling in with fruit, cheese, etc. I guess we'll just have to come back some time to try the other restaurants. That's not too far-fetched since we found Old San Juan to be magical, and that was only enhanced by staying in Ramon's adorable and comfortable vintage apartment in the most perfect location! (We had bought some Puerto Rican coffee while we were in Vieques, and just loved waking up in the morning, making coffee, and sipping it on the balcony while watching Old San Juan come to life...). Anyway, Ramon's hospitality helped to make our trip one that we will not soon forget!

In the middle of everything, but quiet
Ramon's apartment is an oasis of cool and calm right in the middle of Old San Juan. Very convenient to the monuments, restaurants and shops. It has plenty of space for 4 people, has air conditioning and ceiling fans (we only needed the fans, in February). The bathroom has plenty of hot water and a spacious tub/shower. We cooked breakfast each morning and the kitchen was well equipped. The neighbors are cheerful. The breezy balcony has a nice view. Ramon has provided tourist maps and a magazine, and some interesting coffee table books about PR history and culture. The apartment is quite comfortable.

Perfect location!
This was a great stay for us. -- Fabulous location! walking distance to everything we wanted to see in old san juan; short walk to almost endless array of restaurants; great supermarket right on the plaza. -- big apartment, clean and very light and airy at the front..the back bedroom was very hot. -- wonderful balcony, albeit small. Totally enjoyed sitting out on it!~ -- adorably quaint retro fixtures and furnishings! We just ADORED the old dentist chair right in the living area! -- We loved being right on the plaza. On saturday night we enjoyed listening/watching locals at flamenco dancing and music. -- Ramon was a fantastic, helpful and attentive host. We loved that he offered lots of helpful info, checked on us and responded quickly to queries. He readily allowed my sister and me to do a super late checkout since we had an evening flight out of san juan. That was a big help. -- light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. It was tough to sleep with the bustle and noise of the plaza at night. But, that is also to be expected when in the center of it all. -- if you are elderly or disabled, ask Ramon about the elevator. it was out of service when we were there. We are fit and active middle aged women, so we actually enjoyed the exercise, but the elderly will find it difficult. I know the condo association is working on updating it, but on my next visit i will still use the stairs, fitness nut that i am! If you are all about location in the center of old San Juan, this is the place!

Beyond Amazing!!
I rented this historic apartment in Old San Juan for an extended period of approximately 6 weeks. It was simply amazing!! My wife and son still rave about it to their friends. The location is truly unique being one of just a few residences in the central square of OSJ. Being on the 5th floor, I had constant views of street performers, locals mingling, gorgeous sunsets, etc. The apartment has so much old world charm that it felt like something out of a movie. The landlord, Ramon, was so nice and attentive, checking in to make sure everything was just perfect. We will definitely be back!!!

Best place to stay and tour Old San Juan
Terrific. No place could be more convenient to see Old San Juan. Ramon recommended great places to eat. The accommodations suited to a T our family of 3. We loved beaches castles & forest and our balcony view of theater dance and mime. Great vacation -- Dick S

Charming and convenient
Our second stay here has only confirmed our fondness for this apartment. In fact, we have already booked our stay for next year. We feel that the goal of our most cordial host is to share something about Puerto Rican culture. The apartment is located in a building situated close to essential services: a Walgreens, a department, a book and a grocery store. There are numerous restaurants and walks along the water, charming streets. museums and shops. There are renovation projects ongoing in the building and late concerts on the Plaza.

Lovely home right in the heart of Old San Juan
If you are looking for the perfect place to rent right in the heart of Old San Juan, you just found it. Comfort, location, beauty and attention to detail are what this unit is all about. This place has everything; It’s spotlessly clean, spacious, well appointed and in a great location. The view is fabulous and my balcony time became ritual. The apartment has all of the amenities of home at a price that beats most of the hotels which don’t offer half of what you will enjoy here. Fast wi-fi, good a/C, comfy beds, land line, cable, charming decor, W/D, stereo, Bose sound system, turntable, DVD, CD library, copy/fax/printer, cedar lined closets with plenty of hangers, filtered water, and a fully stocked kitchen with everything from cookbooks to a bamboo steamer, etc. And what’s more, its all really cute and you are right in the Plaza de Armas! This was one of my best rental experiences ever because all of the thoughtful touches Ramon put into the apartment. He was great to work with and checked in with me from time to time to make sure that everything was alright . When I return to PR, I will stay here again. It really is a home away from home. P.S. If you are thinking about renting a car-don't, everything is short lovely walk away. If you are taking a tour outside of San Juan most companies will pick you up at Plaza Colon which is 4 blocks away. If you want to explore outside the city you can walk to the Sheraton Hotel and Casino and rent a car from there. Just try your best to avoid traveling during rush hours.

Great apartment
We had 3 wonderful weeks in Puerto Rico. The apartment was great and we felt like home. The air-conditioning in the bedroom was perfect, we could sleep excellent. The sleeping couch in the television room was also quite good. The kitchen is equipped perfectly. Once we had a problem with the water, Ramon helped us immediately. We also had the pleasure to meet him in person, he is a good person and does his job very profesional. Everything was organiced very well, he responded every email, gave us information about Puerto Rico and he even had good resaurant tips, too. After all it, was a great time and we would like to come back. By the way, the neighbours are also absolutely nice. Greetings to Coral, Victor. Thank you and greetings to Ramon

Lovely apartment in excellent location
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this quaint apartment, centrally located in old San Juan. The location is very convenient for exploring the old town, with all attractions within easy walking distance. The character-filled apartment allowed us a very comfortable stay, and we enjoyed the convenience of having our own kitchen and watching the activity in the town square below from the balcony. Ramon was an excellent host, providing us with a list of possible dining options on our arrival and was quick to respond to any email queries

Great visit.
The apartment is in an historical building on the Plaza de Armas. It was very spacious, most of the two weeks we were there, there were three of us, for a few nights four, and there was plenty of room. Plenty of AC. What we really enjoyed was the ease we had roaming greater San Juan including the beachs. There is ample public transportation including free trollies. We never missed not having a car. There were some great reasonibly priced retaurants in the area. If you are more adventurous, and visit the Biccardi plant. Right across from the ferry to Catano (1.00 rt) sits SOS. You can have a great lunch for 5 bucks, including a cold Metalla (sp)Light. I suggest the beef empanadas. They are open Wed thru Sun. All in all it was a great visit Puerto Rico.

Everything we needed and wanted in OSJ!
Beautiful and unique apartment in the perfect location. Highly recommend. Market, Drug store, Deli, Wendy's, BK, and Marshalls all on the square which is 1 min walk from apt after you ride down the fun old elevator:) Great restaurants, shopping and site seeing when you walk in any direction; very central location. Plenty of space for H&W with two teen boys to recharge for our next adventure. Eclectic vintage décor is fun and all modern conveniences are provided. Ramon is easy to work with and has done a great job equipping the apartment for any unexpected vacation needs, Hope to come back next summer:)

Fantastic apartment
We had a most wonderful stay at this apartment. It has a perfect location, everything we wanted was in walking distance. The breeze from the balcony was unbelievable. Ramon supplied us with so many little extras that made it such a joy staying here. The apartment was very clean and much larger than we had expected. I would recommend this apartment to my friends. We are anxious to return for another wonderful vacation.

Simply Amazing - Location, location, location
Amazing apartment in the heart of Old San Juan. The apartment had everything we needed for our two week stay. To tip the scales was the fact that if we needed something from the grocery store you were steps away. There were dozen of great restaurants close by. We enjoyed many nice evenings on the balcony with a glass of wine. Owner was amazing when it came to reply to our questions and needs. He really went above and beyond. We can not recommend this place enough. Have a great stay.

Excellent apartment for trip to San Juan
We had a wonderful time staying in Ramon's historic apartment in Old San Juan. It truly is a beautiful apartment in a wonderful location. The apartment is full of character and has every amenity that you need. We had a cooler to take to the beach with us, air condition (but we only used in our bedroom at night b/c of the amazing breeze throughout the apartment), beautiful tile floors, cedar closets, a full and functional kitchen, a washer/dryer, a TV and sound system with speakers in all the common areas! The balcony on the plaza is great and we spent evenings on the balcony watching the sunset and drinking wine. There is a grocery store and a CVS in the plaza and a taxi stand right beside the plaza for easy cab pick-up to anywhere you might want to go. The apartment is just a few blocks down from Calle San Sebastian with great bars and nightlife. We were able to easily rent a car for a few days from the Hertz place at a hotel just a few blocks away. Ramon gave us everything we needed - easy and accurate information for getting from the airport, finding the apartment and getting in. He sent an email with local restaurant options that was perfect for getting us started in navigating the local food fare. And he responded immediately to questions about the best beaches and sent us to Luquillo which ended up being our favorite. We can't wait to get back!

There's No Place Like Home!
Ramon left nothing out of this great "Home Away" location. It was immaculately clean and tidy. Every thing you needed and didn't think you would need was there. Every detail was a blast from the past. The location was top notch. It's the top of the line for Old San Juan. If you decide to have a car for day trips, there is an inexpensive parking lot about 5 short blocks away. If you're staying local, no car needed. Tons of restaurants and sites to see in your own "backyard". The apartment itself was so comfortable that it made returning "home" something I looked forward to daily. It was a combination of "antique" with modern amenities for comfort. Ramon stayed in contact and was able to recommend great restaurants. I would strongly recommend this apartment to anyone going to PR and not looking for "cookie cutter" beach hotels. Thanks Ramon for making our trip one to remember.

Back in time with all the conveniences of home
Photographs don't do Ramon's apartment justice. The period decor and furnishings were wonderful but we had all the conveniences of home... new flat screen television, great stereo system with nice music selection, hot showers, etc.etc. There was air conditioning but we didn't use it because there are lots of doors and windows that open to the fabulous Plaza de Armas below. The location is almost perfect. You are very close to everything...where the ships come in, the forts, high end shops, pharmacies, lots of coffee shops and restaurants, full-service supermarket, etc. Ramon also supplied easy to follow information and made himself available when I had a question. The only thing you will find is no on-street parking but there is a garage one-block from the apartment. If you want to experience Viejo San Juan, I would recommend Ramon's apartment :)

Loved every square inch
My husband and I loved every square inch of this apartment, a tribute to Puerto Ricos culture of the 1950's with modern amenities. The floors are a brilliant testament to the tilesetters art: small squares and rectangules in mauve, lavender, cream and green in varied designs from a pattern book. The apartment has reflected light provided by two light courts which can also carry the sound of urban living. And what a wonderful location :the open space provided by the Plaza with the grocery store and two drugstores in close proximity. The apartment is also close to walks along the water, down to the port or up to El Morro, the Museums, restaurants and the ocean. The apartment is immaculate and Ramon is a very cordial host. We certainly would recommend this apartment.

Great Apartment in Old San Juan
I found this listing on HomeAway and this was our third trip to San Juan in three years; previously we stayed in Condado. The pictures on Ramon's listing don't really do the place justice, in my opinion. Briefly, my wife and I loved the location (we didn't rent a car) and we hit the beach three times during our six day stay, taking the bus or a cab to our favorite places to sunbathe. Great restuarants are a very short walk nearby and the nightlife closeby is also an attraction for us (my wife is a wonderful dancer). The apartment has a great character to it and the breezes and strategically placed fans meant we were quite comfy....never did touch the air conditioner. The kitchen is fully furnished, there are plenty of towels, and the master bedroom's mattress was very comfortable to my wife and I as well. Ramon checked in with us, which we greatly appreciated, and he was very nice and accomodating. My wife and I heartily recommend this apartment to couples seeking a nice getaway in a very romantic setting. Oh, and the elevator is an antique, but it works and added to the charm of the place.
