Nestled in the 500-year-old historic city of Old San Juan, the elegance and modern nature of Villa Gaudi is the ideal base camp to explore Old San Juan's history, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. Villa Gaudi conserves the structure of traditional Spanish architecture, with soaring ceilings, traditional rustic decor, and majestic floor-to-ceiling windows that offer tons of natural light and fantastic views of historic Old San Juan. Villa Gaudi's interior has been recently renovated to preserve its history while elevating comfort and coziness. As you enter, you’ll be greeted by the living and dining area alongside an amazing and spacious terrace that overlooks the enchanting streets of Old San Juan. Its impeccable fine art will charm your way throughout the whole apartment. And by just opening the doors to the terrace you’ll embrace the coziness of fantastic outdoor space, the beautiful sight of the cobblestone street Calle del Sol and the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or sunset drink.
The apartment has air conditioning throughout, so you can beat the heat during the day and enjoy a relaxing sleep at night. Just a few steps away from Plaza de Armas, the apartment is right by easy shopping, convenience stores, and restaurants. Although laying in a calmer residential street, Villa Gaudi is a short walk from the nightlife and restaurants of Calle San Sebastian and El Morro Spanish fort.

LIVING AREAS
Enter the apartment and you will be greeted by Villa Gaudi's open layout grand living and dining area. There is a modern black marble-like dining room, a beautiful L-shape sofa and a living room spacious enough to enjoy your favorite shows with a flat-screen TV, and three double doors that you can completely open to the terrace or leave closed with windows to let sunlight in. Beside the dining room, the renovated kitchen has everything you would need for an extended stay. Villa Gaudi has beautiful high cathedral ceilings that make the apartment feel very spacious.
The unit includes a washer and dryer in case you need to do some laundry while in San Juan.
SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS
There are two bedrooms at Villa Gaudi – one master bedroom that features a king-size bed, air conditioning, a closet with hangers, a working station, a private bathroom, and a reading chair. The guest bedroom features one queen bed, air conditioning, and a closet with hangers as well as its own private bathroom.
PACK AND PLAY (SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY): We can leave a complimentary Pack and Play at the property upon request. This should be requested upon booking or no later than 5 days before arrival. Pack and Plays are subject to availability.
KITCHEN
Villa Gaudi's kitchen was just updated with a spectacular Spanish tile "creole" style backsplash. In Puerto Rico, we say love enters your house right through the kitchen, so you and your group will surely spend time socializing and cooking in this beautiful space. There is a coffee maker, kettle, stovetop, toaster oven, microwave, and fridge. You’ll have enough paper towels, trash bags, and dish soap to comfortably start your stay. There is an amazing breakfast nook with a bistro-style table right beside the stunning floor-to-ceiling windows where guests can enjoy their breakfast while having partial views of Old San Juan.
The washer and dryer are also located in this area. They're not visible in the pictures but they are located towards the end of the kitchen behind closed doors.
LOCATION
Staying in Old San Juan is a truly unique experience filled with charm and character. From Villa Gaudi, you can comfortably walk anywhere within Old San Juan. The apartment is located on one of the quieter streets but still steps away from all the action. We recommend taking a cab or Uber from the airport and using Uber while you stay at Old San Juan. Renting a car is not necessary unless you are planning on road-tripping. This is a truly walkable location with everything you need a short walk away. The apartment does not include parking. Nonetheless, there are convenient parking lots close to the apartment.
There are many things to do in the surrounding areas, here are some of our favorites, all within walking distance:
Explore the El Morro Fort. There are daily tours of the fort and the large green areas have spectacular ocean views. Take a tour, have a picnic, and fly a kite. This is a must-do.
Explore the iconic Calle San Sebastian nightlife. There is a large assortment of bars on this strip which is a favorite among locals on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Breakfast at “La Mallorca”. This is a Puerto Rican landmark well known for its locally inspired breakfast and pastries.
Savor Stuffed Avocado. Healthy and "trendy" spot where you can create your own avocado bowl.
Take a stroll around “Paseo La Princesa”, a waterfront walkway where you can start off at El Morro and finish the walk with a rum tasting at Princesa Gastrobar at the end of the trail.
GETTING AROUND
This property does not include parking. If staying within the general San Juan/Metro area, we recommend moving around via Uber. If you decide to rent a car, there are various paid parking garages around Old San Juan - pricing varies as some charge by the hour and others have a flat rate.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
We strongly recommend that all guests purchase travel insurance, especially during the peak months of Hurricane Season, which are July to October. Travel insurance is inexpensive and will reimburse travelers for most expenses associated with canceling travel outside of the cancellation window; however, this will depend on what the coverage purchased covers. Make sure to review and understand the options before purchase. Disclaimer: we are not associated with any travel insurance companies.
AMENITIES
West Indies strives to deliver top-notch service and amenities to guarantee our guests feel at home while visiting our properties. All of our properties are outfitted with freshly laundered bed linens and towels. We provide 2 bath towels per guest and 1 beach/pool towel per guest. Our properties typically include at least 2 beach chairs and an ice cooler.
West Indies provides the disposable amenities necessary to get your vacation off to a comfortable start. These amenities include 1 set of hotel-size soaps and shampoos per bathroom, 3 garbage bags, 1 roll of paper towel, 2 rolls of toilet paper per bathroom, 1 dish soap, 1 dish sponge, and a small amount of laundry detergent. We do not provide unlimited disposable amenities. It is your responsibility to review what is included in the property and stock with whatever else may be needed for the duration of your stay.
HOUSE RULES
Check-in time is at 4:00 pm
Check-out time is at 11:00 am
NO SMOKING: Smoking is strictly prohibited. A smoking fee of $500 will be charged if violated.
NO PETS: No pets are allowed at any time. A $300 fine will be charged if violated and you will be expelled from the property.
The host will not pay for a hotel, vacation rental, or transportation expenses incurred because of an interruption in water or electrical service. If water or electricity is interrupted for more than 3 hours, guests have the option of canceling their reservation and requesting a refund for the nights not used. Under no circumstances will we refund consumed nights.
All bookings are contingent on signing a short-term rental agreement that will be sent via email. It must be signed within 48 hours of booking or before entering the property, whichever happens first.
Maximum occupancy of 4 adults/children at all times. This includes visitors.
Max. occupancy is strictly enforced and exceeding it may result in immediate cancellation of booking or being expelled from the property.
Towels and linens must only be used for their intended purpose. Do not stain them with food, grease or any other substance. Do not use towels to clean up any mess. Stained towels/linens will be charged.
Do not hang towels from the balcony or windows. A $100 fine may be applied if you break this rule.
