Our dog-friendly 5br 3ba solar-powered private hilltop oasis is a peaceful refuge that accommodates 16+ humans too. 2 full kitchens, 3 living rooms, 4 office-type work spaces with desks, patios, balcony, fire pit, just 4 blocks to the sea.Perched atop the closest neighborhood to Luquillo's renowned Kioskos with 50+ bars, shops & restaurants and Marriott Fairfield's new Casino, we are walking distance to El Balneaario Monserrate, Playa Fortuna, Luquillo Beach, Playa Azul Playa La Pared, as well as the sea outlets of both the Pitahaya and Mameyes rivers. We are 2 miles from Carabalí Rainforest Adventure Park, and just 4 miles from the park entrance of El Yunque National Forest - the only tropical rainforest in the US National Park Service!

Swing in the hammock or choose between the rainforest or ocean view workstations and get a little work done with stable and reliable wifi fueled by renewable energy.

Sip your morning coffee under the awnings out front on our exterior slab benches to take in the hilltop water views, or conversely, enjoy a cool drink out back and watch the rolling hills of El Yunque turn golden in the evening light.

In our freshly made kitchens you’ll find all the cook's best friends - new appliances, proper utensils and flatware, and everything you’ll need should you choose to cook. Enjoy the sea view from the built-in booth or spread out on our large expandable dining room table or the three other kitchen tables we have available.

All bedrooms have top of the line inverter ACs, as do the common areas upstairs. Our “wave” ceiling fans downstairs efficiently keep the common areas cool and comfortable.

We have four (4) dedicated work-spaces feature high-speed internet and stable wifi for when you feel like journaling, writing, or simply knocking out some of those persistent office tasks and Zoom meetings. Thanks to our wifi extenders, the property interior has a strong signal throughout (ranging from 200 to 500 mbps).

When you’re ready to relax and play a board game, we have four lounge areas available to play some cards, read a book or stream something on our SmartTVs -we have five (4) TVs: a 55", a 50", a 40" and a 32" - as well as deep and comfortable sofas you can sink into with your popcorn and enjoy a show.

If you need anything before you arrive or while you’re here, we have our own little guest shop full of essentials and services that we continue to add to and improve. So, if you'd like to arrive to a pre-stocked kitchen, relax with a soda or a snack, book an extra mid-stay clean or a check-out time extension, or just forgot your toothbrush, we've got you covered! GETTING AROUND OUR AREA:

Uber and a few local taxi companies service our area, but availability can be sporadic and wait times typically range from 5 to 15 minutes, sometimes more. There is no public transportation in our area. We live at the top of a large hill, so walking down to the beach is easy-peasy, walking back up not so much... Having a car here is strongly recommended.

Driving:
As mentioned elsewhere, rental cars are by far the best option for getting around our area independently. That said, extra caution and periodic deep breathing is important for motorists new to the area, as the driving culture here is unusually aggressive (though not mean-spirited), and the road quality is inconsistent (read: frequent potholes, uneven pavement, drainage trenches and unmarked speed bumps). If you stay cool and take your time, other drivers will do their thing and work around you. Practicality tends to trump following rules of the road here.

Walking:
Outside of downtown municipal areas, development patterns in Puerto Rico are not particularly pedestrian friendly. Please watch traffic lights and take care when crossing major roads, as drivers do not always yield for pedestrians. Once down by the sea, the best walking/jogging is definitely on the long beach stretches of our shoreline, which is reliably pleasant.

We will give you your space during your stay while remaining available to resolve any problems or concerns.

Lucky You, Low-Key You, Luquillo -Puerto Rico

Called the “Riviera of Puerto Rico,” and also known as "The Sun Capital" and "The City of Eternal Summer," Luquillo is a favorite local destination. Less than half an hour from SJU (San Juan International Airport) and Old San Juan, Luquillo boasts easy access to internationally acclaimed Blue Flag beaches and El Yunque National Forest (the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. Park System). Here you’ll also find world class golfing facilities at nearby 5-star resorts, some of the best surfing on the island, reefs for snorkeling, after-dark kayak excursions in bioluminescent waters, good hiking in El Yunque’s cloud forest, warm waterfalls, river rock waterslides and cool swimming holes, Carabalí Rainforest Park adventures, picturesque back roads to local chocolate farms and more. If you’re hungry, right here is Borinquen, fusion and nuevo cuisine, vegan and vegetarian fare, juice bars and fine dining, as well as great BBQ and street food.

Go horseback riding on beach and rainforest trails, or supervised pony rides for the tots, jet-skiing, air-boarding, sail-boarding, parasailing, paramotoring, mountain biking, kayaking, zip-lines, ATVs, go-karts, and hay-rides. All in our area! Fhew!!

The celebrated Luquillo Kiosks at the bottom of our hill boast 50+ Borinquen restaurants, souvenir shops, and bars with their own seaside scene… and nightlife. The nearby Luquillo town center (just 2.9 miles / ~5 mins away) has a charming square that comes to life after church service, when local kids bring out all manner of bikes, scooters, and skates to enjoy the cool evenings. Live BorinquenJazz music at the C-Note is to be found half a block from the square as well as lively nightlife at the Boardrider's Cafe and other local pubs.

In addition to local shops, and bakeries, we’re minutes from major U.S.-chain grocery, drug stores and fast food. There’s even a nearby outlet mall with a sick arcade, bumper cars, indoor and outdoor go-karts, movie theater, 3-story climbing structure, modern bowling alley, playland for the tots complete with ball pits, and numerous virtual reality simulator rides, not to mention food court, sushi, coffee and old people expectalbes. What’s more, we’re just a 20 min drive to the ferry terminal servicing the smaller islands of Vieques and Culebra.

Then after all that you can come back and sink into the comforts of our newly renovated, fully outfitted ocean view unit and recharge!

Uber services our area, and wait times for service are typically 5-25 minutes. The best way to get around independently is car rental.


HOUSE RULES:

1) Valid government-issued photo ID required for every adult guest included in the reservation. Photos of government issued IDs for every guest in the guest party should be submitted to host as a message attachment on this platform or via our secure email (disclosed after booking) within 48 hours of arrival. For health and safety, we need to know who all is staying with us, just like any hotel or guesthouse would.

2) No parties.

3) No smoking or vaping inside (anywhere). The fee for smoking or vaping inside this home is $600.00, no exceptions. Smoking is permitted in designated areas outside (including the covered balcony and patio).

4) Guest Occupancy must not exceed what is originally arranged. For health and safety purposes, exterior security cameras monitor the premises 24/7. Unregistered guests will result in the forfeiture of the security deposit.

5) Quiet hours after 10 PM.

6) A signed short term rental agreement is required for families traveling with children under the age of seven, guests with pets or service animals, and all stays longer than 28 days.

7) This is a 1/3 acre property located in an area zoned as rural, built into an outcropping of the El Yunque mountain range replete with boulders and tropical critters like lizards, toads, coqui frogs, gardener snakes, spiders, ants, etc. Guests should know that our neighbors have chickens, roosters, cows, sheep, goats, donkeys and horses that sometimes make noise. We're happy to say that our fastidious maintenance and renovations have succeeded at keeping animals and most insects outside. Please know that sightings and interactions are possible, be kind and avoid the critters that live around us.

8) For all extended stays of two weeks or more, guests must permit weekly unit access for professional cleaning and maintenance. Guests shall remit payment for these extra cleanings at the booking rate as additional payments through this booking platform.

9) Turn off the lights, fans and ALL ACs each time you leave the property. Excess energy usage during the day prevents the recharge our Tesla battery and forces us back on the grid. In an effort to stay GREEN, ECO FRIENDLY, please turn off ACs when you leave the room.

10) Municipal water supply in our area is "irregular" and water outages frequently occur. We are at the top of a large hill, so water pressure is inconsistent. Also, the PR Water Authority's pumps are electric, so when the electrical grid fails temporarily, so does our water supply. This is just a fact of life for local neighborhoods in Puerto Rico. Our 600 gallon cistern with its water pump and pressure tank helps even-out these occurrences in the short term, but as government utility services are beyond our control, we cannot provide refunds for bookings affected by extended outages.

11) We strongly suggest that guests purchase travelers insurance, as both weather conditions and government services can be unpredictable here. They beyond our control we cannot accept responsibility for them and do not offer refunds because of weather conditions or service outages. We recommend that guests who need guaranteed uninterrupted utilities service instead choose one of the many local resorts available. They are more costly to be sure, but it may be worth the expense, as the large resorts are the only private facilities equipped to operate normally during extended public utility outages.

12) No commercial filming without permission.

13) Guests must pay in full for their mini-bar consumption and any guest shop purchases prior to departure using the QR code provided. Otherwise, the cost of any missing items plus a 10% restocking fee will be charged.

14) To avoid accidents, care must be taken at all times, and the supervision of children, elderly, and of people with mobility issues is paramount. The architect of our home designed a masterful scheme of levels throughout the house and patio structures to accommodate and artfully incorporate boulders into the design throughout the property. However, care must be taken when navigating up and down the exterior levels of the property because not all the steps have the same rise.

ALL GUESTS IN THE PARTY INDEMNIFY THE HOST/OWNER AGAINST ANY DAMAGE, INJURY OR LOSS, AND USE THIS PROPERTY AT THEIR OWN RISK.


GUESTS WITH PETS:

1) UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES are pets or service animals ever to be left alone or unattended anywhere inside our home (including bedrooms and bathroom). The only place pets may be left unattended for short periods is on the enclosed balcony out front.

2) This listing welcomes well-trained/well-behaved Dogs. (We Do NOT Allow Cats). However, signs of dog hair, accidents or odor on sofas or beds by our cleaning staff will incur a $300.00 extra cleaning fee per instance. Dog beds, kennels and carpets will be available. Dogs are allowed in woven hammocks (not in parachute fabric hammocks).

3) The pet fee for this listing is $500.00. It is collected as a separate payment through this site upon signing our short term rental agreement after booking. Our ability to continue to be pet friendly and extend our good will to others depends your help us avoid costly and time consuming remediation efforts.

4) All pet and service animal owners must upload proof of topical flea treatment administered 72 hours prior to arrival at the property as a message attachment on this platform. There will be an additional $500.00 fee if fleas are found after your departure.

5) Guests must understand that they bring their pets at their own risk. We accept no liability whatsoever for pets that are lost or injured during the stay. Guests take full responsibility for their pet’s or service animal’s safety during the stay.

6) Dog Owners: PLEASE Look for & Pick up ALL your pet’s poop! We have a convenient pooper-scooper for you to regularly “poop-patrol” the premises and clean up after your animal. If our staff has to clean up your dog waste after your departure, we will photograph and charge $25.00 per instance, billed post departure… Please reciprocate our good will and desire to accommodate your animal by cleaning up after your pet.
