Great stay. The neighborhood was safe and an easy drive to SF. Friendly communication with the property owner. The bed and couches were
Comfortable and everything was very clean. I would recommend staying here
This was the perfect little place for our San Fran stay. The host James was very quick to respond and very accommodating. The home was clean and comfortable, and so many cute little details like a welcome note, cookies & more! Loved it and would for sure use again.
The house was quite easy to get to and we felt very safe in the neighborhood. The owner was typically quick to respond to my questions. The house was clean and suited our brief stay near San Francisco.
The only downside was the pinned location on the VRBO map is not accurate. For us it showed that it was right up to the ocean.

Good location, ok amenities, frustrating experience
If you read through the amenities section of the listing you get the feeling that you have the option of parking in a garage, the driveway or the street. That's not true, you have the option of parking on the driveway unless one of the other units has an agreement for the driveway, I don't think anyone is allowed to park in the garage, at least I never saw a car there in the 5 days I was at the house and the street is frustrating because it's almost always full and if you get to the house in the late evening after people are home from work you might have to park more than a block away. This was very frustrating for us, we were driving a minivan and had small kids with us so parking in the driveway was a motivating factor when we picked this place, so being told we weren't allowed on the right side because the minivan was too long and after 2 nights being told we were no longer allowed on the left side due to someone else moving in was extremely frustrating.
The listing also says the location type is Beach, while you are technically less than 1500 feet from the beach, you are also about 200 feet above the beach and would be hard pressed to find anyway down the cliff side to the beach. So while that might qualify as a "beach" location, I think it would be more accurate to list it as just a neighborhood.
The amenities also list a washer and dryer as available for use. When we checked in there was a paper on the table with some information about the property that also said to not use the washer and dryer unless you had permission. I felt frustrated this was on display for us since the listing said they were available. We were able to contact the host and use them without issue though.
The host was very nice and did get us sheets for the couch right away.
The ceiling is thin which made sleeping harder when people were staying up stairs
The biggest frustration about the whole situation may or may not be the property owners fault. When we searched for a property in San Fransisco for our trip we specifically searched for properties that could accommodate 6 people. This property came up in the list and said it had the parking situation we wanted and the clothes washing situation we wanted. So we didn't pay too much attention to the sleeping situation since it said it could handle 6. When we showed up and saw sleeping for 5 and realized 2 kids would have to sleep together we weren't happy. We liked the location and TV but overall we wouldn't come back
It was difficult to park in small space. It was very quiet until a family with children arrived upstairs. Not too much noise, mainly running around.

Dirty, small apartment
I stayed with my wife, mother, and sister while I recovered from donating my kidney at UCSF. The rental is in a nice location, if you have a car.
The property was generally clean, but there were several spiders in the corners throughout the apartment and the backyard patio is a disaster.
The one bathroom is nice, but not enough for the number of people we had. Also, the plumbing was old and so the toilet broke. Although this gave us some difficulty, the host was able to get a plumber out and fix the problem quickly.
The furniture was beaten down. The couches looked like a kid got a hold of a sharpie and went to town on them.
The kitchen had none of the essentials. No pots or pans. Barely any silver ware, and no dishwasher. Also the coffee maker was covered in water spots which made it look gross.
Finally, I rented this property from Vrbo with the house filter on so that we could get a private property, but this rental is anything but private. There are two other rentals attached to this one, so the host lied about the rental space. There were some bad renters in the upstairs space who were yelling at each other late in the evening as well, which was not cool.
Don’t rent this property. The amount of money they’re asking for is not worth it. Find somewhere else to stay.
We did not realize when we booked this location that it is part of a famous song called "Little boxes" by Malvina Reynolds. So that was a nice surprise! Lovely neighborhood and close to the beach (which is on a cliffside. So we didn't actually make it down to the beach. Just walked along the cliffside). 15 minutes from the airport and 25 minutes to San Fran. The smoke alarm is a little sensitive. We were cooking dinner at 9 pm and the set the alarm off. The tenants next door were none too happy. Oops! Dinner wasn't burned, but we were cooking sausages and it got a little smoky. So I might suggest cooking spaghetti or keep the door open while cooking! We were scared to set it off again so we just ended up ordering pizza.
My two friends and I stayed here for a few days while we visited SF. The fruit, pie and cookies were an amazing touch when we arrived. This was a great spot to crash at night after traveling around the city!

It’s okay!
It was an okay experience. Nothing great. There is a funky/musty smell that someone mentioned in the previous reviews. The upstairs is absolutely loud. It’s unfortunate, but hey it’s a downstairs place. The shower has some mildew in between the tiles. That could have been cleaned more. The couches have stains on them, so did one of the sheets, the single couch seemed broken.
We slept there, but wasn’t entirely comfortable.
The location was great, for what we needed. It was easy to get around, with lots of places to shop and eat in the vicinity.
Parking was okay if you were there first, otherwise it was tricky, especially when you're not use to such a tight area. We had a great time, it was a fun place to stay. Thank you!
Plusses:
The house was clean and a very convenient distance from the city. Having a kitchen is awesome when you're away from home for more than a few days.
Extra blankets!
James was very nice!
Minuses:
Unfortunately, we were only renting 1/3 of the property. When the people upstairs (or their dog) were active late at night, it was very loud for us.
Parking was a bit tricky (but free).
Needs more towels.
4/5 stars
We have family that reside in San Francisco, near the Zoo. This property was only about 6-10 minutes away, which was our reason for choosing to stay there. We have 2 small dogs, and the “ ground floor apartment” served our needs. The backyard.needs needs to be maintained better, and there were 2 rusty chairs and a table outside, which we did not use.
Shopping and restaurants are located a few minutes away, which was great. The small kitchen area was adequate, there is a Keurig coffee maker, and an electric range and microwave. A good non-stick frying pan would be helpful. There are adequate kitchen plates and flatware, as well as glasses and mugs. The owner provided fresh fruit, cookies, and a few English muffins. The big TV was great. The shower is functional, but could be updated. We were able to park our SUV in the driveway. We recommend that the owner replace the indoor and outdoor door mats. James, the owner, was easy to communicate with. We felt safe, and enjoyed the location of the property.
This street level rental enter from the side of house. Your entry to apartment is at the rear and both doors are keycoded. The unit was clean and maintained. Parking was either on street with a tight driveway park that fits a small car OK. In home laundry located in the garage with permission and only Sunday to Tuesday availability. Our stay was nice and the location was perfect. Shopping convenient and close to SF.
The place smelled funky while I was there (maybe wash the comforter?). Zero room in the bathroom to put anything out except my toothbrush. Kitchen very small as depicted in photo. I had problems every time trying to lock the unit and the outside fence. I did not feel safe. Parking was a bit difficult (I understood there would be a parking place). And the dogs running laps upstairs and barking were not good. This place is overpriced.
Very clean, comfortable, and with amenities. Does share a ceiling and possibly air with other apts. in building (mentioned because of Covid). James easy and communicative.
