We stayed here for Christmas 2024, great location and super clean. This stay had everything we needed for an enjoyable vacation! No issues with parking across the street in the surface lot. 10/10 would stay here again!

Ideal location for downtown SD / Little Italy
4 adults stayed for 3 nights and it was a good location for our sightseeing activities with very easy walking to Little Italy and into downtown. We didn't do any cooking so lack of a dining area/table was not really an issue for us but may be for others planning to make their own meals. Beds were nice and comfortable and bathrooms were fine. This area of San Diego does have a few unfortunate homeless folk around including tents on the opposite side of the road from this property but absolutely no issues with them at all so it wasn't a problem for us. Car parking at $10 for 12 hours / $25 for 24 hours was available in the lot right across the street. A very small number of free parking spaces are available on nearby streets but we only managed to snag a free spot on 1 of the 4 days we were there so if you have a vehicle expect to pay for parking ... plenty of (paid) space available though. All in all I think this was a good deal close enough to all the places we wanted to visit. I would go back here again for sure.

Very nice, OK location, older building but well maintained
Great host and great communication; very responsive. Everything worked well overall, and the building was very clean and cute, though it is an older building so there may be some quirks. Beds and pillows were excellent. The location is somewhat loud and the windows are old and do not seal. Just be aware of it if you are a light sleeper; maybe bring some earplugs. There is a decent small grocery store nearby, though you may not feel safe going out after dark in the area. We had no problems, but we ubered around in the evening. There are several houses all together with a locked gate around them, so it was fairly secure. A great stay overall!

Property is clean and cozy with a rustic charm. Location is excellent. Within a comfortable walking distance to Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, USS Midway, Petco and Convention Centre. Was also able to comfortably walk back from Balboa park. Area can be noisy at night as able to hear street traffic, both car and pedestrian. There are homeless individuals around the area however there were no security issues. Would be nice to have some sitting stools in kitchen area as there is only a couch/sofa. Also, curtains on front door for privacy, especially at night, so street pedestrians are unable to view into the kitchen area. Overall, great location for areas attractions.

March/april visit
I want to start off by saying that the place is a great location! Great food choices nearby and you are within walking distance to the pier or the opera. The apartment was very clean and was gated so that only those staying were able to get in. Communication with the owners was great. Our flight came in early and they accommodated my family easily by letting us check in early. The only downside was the increased amount of homelessness in the area. There was one night that our gated step was the hip spot and those hanging around the area were very loud for a good chunk of time. By morning though, there weren't any homeless by our steps and i discovered later that a large group of them live under the overpass just up the road. This is at no fault of the owners as this is out of there control and i, being a midwest country girl, qm not used to the city noise as well as the homelessness. Overall, the place is wonder and i will definitely book there again if i ever visit san diego again.

March/april stay
The property was very nice to stay at. The house was very clean and they offered laundry services within the gated area. It had fence with a gate enclosing the area so only tennants could enter. The owners of the property were easy to get in touch with and worked with me. My flight got in early on my check in date and I asked if my party could check in early instead of lugging around our suitcases until 4pm. They allowed me to do that with no complaints. The location was great by easily allowing you to walk to great restaurants nearbye, or walk down to the pier which is a little farther. With that, between feb 2020 to now, the homeless population has increased (which isn't the owners fault). One night we our gated steps was the hot spot. There were a few homeless hanging out there, laughing and carrying on. They weren't loud all night and there weren't any present the next morning. Most of the homeless slept down the road under the overpass. The stay itself 5/5, but if you are a middle of nowhere country person I'd give the location 4/5 because I'm not used to the noises and hussle and bussle of night. Givin the chance would we stay again? Absolutely

Decent and affordable
Location is both good and bad; the good is that if you’re OK with walking around, you’re 15min from the water (30min with young kids) going West and South. Convention center and pier are accessible and there are lots of restaurants along the way, including Little Italy. The downside is that there are lots of homeless people in this area (it gets worse going East of 2nd Ave) which results in lots of trash, the scents of urine in many places…social issues are complex. This area is very much like East Vancouver and for some, especially families, this may be undesirable. We never felt unsafe or like we were in any danger, and it was an opportunity to answer lots of questions that our kids had on seeing this. The accommodations themselves aren’t suitable for a family if you plan on preparing meals. There’s no table or chairs so unless you want to huddle around a coffee table you are out of luck. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking, it’s just missing a suitable place to eat. Be aware that it’s a rather noisy area; garbage trucks roll in next door every morning, there’s various sounds of construction. It’s an older house so noise comes through quite easily. Both toilet seats were loose, and both run which wastes a ton of water. But beds were comfortable. Lots of space for storing clothing. Plus the host was super responsive and helpful which makes up for almost everything. The lack of table and chairs would prevent us from returning for a stay as we have young kids.

Right near the action!
Wonderful 2 bedroom apartment. Clean, comfortable, everything we needed. The air conditioning was amazing! We stayed here for comic con and it was about a 20 minute walk to the convention center. It is a short drive to the zoo and sea world too. The place is inside a locked gate so we felt very secure. It is in downtown so I was worried about parking my car on the street but we didn't have any problems. From 6 pm to 8 am its free and we were able to get the spot right in front of the place every night. During the day we usually took the car so didn't have to worry about parking but there are several pay lots very close by.

It is what it is, and it is great!
First, perhaps the highest compliment is that I hope to return to the property. Our children loved it and after a long day Second, to explain the title, this property is what it is. It is not a luxury condo, this is not a beach house, it is a quaint and idyllic cottage-like home in the middle of downtown San Diego. Something you might read about in a children's novel about how a country home got surrounded by the big city. Somewhat surreal, but that's what it is. We visited with me, my wife, and four children 5-11 years old. It was perfect for us. It is not a place I would recommend for spending all day at. We were there for sleeping, breakfast, and an evening movie before bed. PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT. Beds were great, rooms were comfortable, TVs and internet connection ran without a hitch. We spent the days going to sea world, san diego zoo, USS Midway, etc... This location is extremely close to all of that. We went to Legoland on the the day we checked out. That was about 30 mins away. My wife had to fly out midway through the trip, this place is 10 minutes from the airport. We spent evenings in little Italy having great ice cream (Salt & Straw) and italian food. Mid-days were close to great mexican food. This is about 4 min drive from little italy. The home is inside something of a historical home campus. 4 homes with a historical designation is my thought. surrounded by a wrought-iron fence. No parking inside the fence but it really wasn't a problem. Highly recommend for foodies, families, anyone who doesn't like sterile environments of hotels and prefers the sense of being "home" but still in the big city. What I would do to improve: There is no laundry onsite - with kids I usually plan use a laundry on trips. However, I found a laundromat up the street that was very clean, quick, and I was in and out of there with a huge load done in just under an hour. No parking onsite, when you get there you see why, there really is plenty of free parking though in the immediate vicinity (no charge parking at night, make sure you see the signs for when streets get visited by the street sweeper). A little larger bathroom would be nice, no bath tub, but two showers in two clean bathrooms to handle our group of six.

Fun Victorian Apartment
The apartment was so cute and well laid out. It would have been helpful to have some hand towels and rags for the kitchen for drying dishes but other then that we had everything we needed. There were some homeless people near the house, especially in the evening but as long as you have two or three people it felt safe. Everywhere downtown has homeless people though so this isn't different then any other place you would stay. If you are looking for a fun place to stay while in San Diego I highly recommend. It is in a great location, right in the heart of downtown and close to the airport too.
