Guadalupe River Retreat

The views, the perks, the awesome waterfront location alongside a popular river-these factors, and so many more, make the Guadalupe River Retreat one of the best Hill Country vacation destinations!.

Imagine a private riverside resort, a kid-friendly and pet-friendly hideaway loaded with luxurious amenities, and tons of fun and relaxing things to do. All this and more awaits you at the Guadalupe River Retreat, one of the best Hill Country vacation destinations, tucked away in the gorgeous mountainous terrain just outside Boerne! It's perfect for nature lovers and travelers alike with its rural setting, but with the charming city of Boerne close by.

Fishing, swimming, and canoeing are all instantly available to you, thanks to a private Guadalupe River frontage, and you're set for tubing, too (contact Bergheim Campground and River Outfitters in Boerne for more info on floats. Activities are seasonal, and water levels are based on rain). The property is at the end of the road, with no neighbors near this private Hill Country getaway, just wide-open countryside! If the shopping or night life bugs should bite, Bandera and Boerne are just a short drive away.

A shaded porch offers great views of the river and the terrain beyond, and the property is populated with both deer and birds; the latter love to visit the numerous feeders here. Along with patio furniture and a fire pit, there are two porch swings-one on the deck, the other on the river's bank. Ample parking is available for your vehicles.

The "wow factor" inside starts with over 50 linear feet of windows encircling the living area, inviting the beauty of the outdoors, indoors. There's ample seating in the living, seating and dining areas. The huge kitchen features modern appliances, cookware and serving ware, and there's also a washer/dryer combo. Three comfy bedrooms sleep up to seven: a king and a single day bed in the master; a queen in the second bedroom; and two singles in the third. All bed and bath linens are provided, with two full baths: the master features a jacuzzi and shower, the second has a shower/tub combo. There is also an additional half-bath. Central A/C and heat keep the house comfortable, and there's a satellite smart TV and DVD player for you to enjoy.

The views, the perks, the awesome waterfront location alongside a popular river-these factors, and so many more, make the Guadalupe River Retreat an incredible private Hill Country hideaway! Touch base with us at Backroads Reservations, and we'll happily help you book this Lone Star gem.

Peaceful weekend getaway
Loved the property. The walk down to the river was too steep for us but the sounds of te water running was a nice soundtrack to relaxing on the deck and watching the birds and the deer. The house was spotless and well appointed. Great kitchen and living area. Will definitely be back!

River view and wildlife fun
Wonderful, relaxing 4 day weekend. The kitchen was very well appointed and we made full use for several meals. We woke up one morning to 15 wild turkeys outside that hung around the property most of the day - way cool. We loved the river - skipped rocks, did a little mini tubing, and caught some little fish (no keepers). The house had a great selection of games stocked. We finished one jigsaw puzzle and almost completed a second. There are a whole lot of thistle type stickers to walk through to get to the river in March. One suggestion would be to maintain a path that would make that trek much more enjoyable in sandals. It was a great location with the ideal setup for our family. Thanks for sharing your hill country getaway!

Lovely and relaxing stay
The best hill country property at which I've stayed. Conveniently close to Boerne, yet also providing peaceful solitude. The property has a river-facing brace of windows that allows contemplation of a pristine stretch of the Guadalupe River. An outstanding place to stay.

75th Birthday
The house is amazing. You are instantly greeted by a glorious view of nature in it's finest!! The river was very low due to summer in Texas providing no rain. BUT, we enjoyed sitting and watching nature wake up each morning, and go to bed each evening. Young deer, playing, running, and jumping! Young bucks, mature near trophy whitetail, and even a beautiful axis buck. Saw some bobcats, and so many different birds! Incredibly peaceful!

River access
The house was great but access to the river was impossible for us as senior citizens. Our 50 year old children were able to make the trek but it was extremely hard for them. Being in our 70’s we knew better than to even attempt it.

Absolutely Perfect!!
We have a large group and our children range from 6-26 and there was something for everyone to do. We relaxed at the river, our children found some of the deeper holes and even a rope swing. We caught minnows, skipped rocks, played board games and card games, watched movies, cooked and ate a lot, enjoyed the wildlife from the huge windows in the home, made smores by the fire, and my personal favorite was the jacuzzi tub which I never wanted to get out of. We have all agreed we want this to be our annual getaway!

The house is amazing. Like staying in a 5-star hotel. The linens, towels, furniture, kitchen…everything was perfection! If you’re traveling with someone in a wheelchair, this house is handicapped accessible!! The doors are plenty wide enough. The master bedroom and bathroom are perfect for someone on a walker or in a wheelchair! The shower is a roll-in and is huge! We will definitely come back!

Thank you so very much for an incredibly awesome experience. Your home is absolutely gorgeous and what a view. The peace and quiet was just what we needed to rejuvenate ourselves from city life. The wildlife just made everything perfect. We watched the deer in the morning and at sunset, the cows from next door came over to graze and visit, listened to the turkey’s from afar and even had an opportunity to see one. The best part was the big buck we were so fortunate to see. It literally stopped us in our tracks as we watched this beautiful buck standing proud and tall with his full set of antlers. Wow…. how often do you get to see something so amazing. We were so in awe that neither one of us could even reach for our camera to capture the sight of this beauty. Our dog Skylar thanks you as well. She enjoyed playing in the river and loved all the wonderful smells and sitting out on the deck taking it all in. The only drawback for us at our age was the steep incline getting up and down to the river. But overall awesome. Again, thank you so much.

Fantastic! Beautiful home. We loved listening to the river from the porch and watching wildlife, including White-tailed and axis deer, wild turkeys, and a bobcat. We heard birds not common where we live: canyon wren, screech owl, etc. We hope to visit again with family.
