Nice isolated retreat
The location here is stunning. The bush and birds are a real treat. Just watch for snakes, ticks and leeches if bushwalking (we encountered hundreds of leeches due to damp conditions, not nice for kids). The wider property facilities are good and well maintained. The cottage is one of about twenty; sparsely populated by mainly retirees, so pretty quiet. The cottage had everything we needed for our few days' away and was very comfortable. The cottage is aged and showing signs of needing some repairs (such as the main sliding door, which does not operate well). The kitchen and bathroom were mostly clean, but some areas of the cottage could really use a more thorough clean, with some areas of the floor and windows frankly filthy. We received no check in instructions and had no clue what to do on arrival, with absolutely nobody there to assist and no mobile reception. Carefully select access to and travel around the area as some roads are 4WD only following rain.

Property set between a National Park and a State Forest approx 40klm from Dungog. There is a tennis court on site and a easy bush walk to the river for a swim. Sitting on your veranda while watching the native birds, wallabies, goannas , possums etc all add to this magical location.. Has a landline line telephone but no internet or cell phone connection.

No hot water!
Cedar Lodge is a lovely place in a gorgeous location. Our trip was spoiled because we had no hot water, and no way to contact anyone for help in resolving it. There's a TV, but it doesn't work- not a huge problem....no hot water - that's a huge problem!

Awesome mountain location, great access to trails.
Mountain location perfect for exploring with excellent access to trails , good size cabins. Electric blankets were great. Only feedback would be - definately needs gas heater working , all other small supplied heaters turned on tripped the safety switch. Ran out of gas so we got super lucky and groundsman was on site to change it which was excellent . Also room needs an oven for cooking. Overall really good spot and worth the drive into the mountains.

Good stay once you manage to find the place
The arrival was fraught with uncertainty - street address of the property was wrong on Hotels.com confirmation - "2490 Salisbury Rd" instead of the correct 2940 Salisbury Rd - leading our GPS to direct us to an empty cow-paddock. There is no mobile phone coverage in the area to call for assistance, no signage to the property until you've found it. The check-in notice in the Hotels.com confirmation stated "Guests planning to arrive outside of normal check-in hours must contact this property in advance to arrange check-in." We arrived at 3pm, a perfectly normal check-in time, but the place was deserted. On the way out of the place, ready to give up, we found someone unrelated to the property owner, who happened to be in the area and could direct us to the one of 20 cabins that had been prepared for visitors (us???), with the door left open and keys on the table. The keys didn't actually lock the front door, but never mind ... The cabin itself is fine and comfortable, but the place is deserted. Better check-in instructions are required. Barrington Tops is nice for walking, but riddled with leeches on a wet day!

Tranquility and with nature
Beautiful lodge with a bundance of wildlife. There were colourful parrots, kookaburras, bush turkeys that would visit the lodges veranda. Wallabys come around at sunset. Spa bath in lodge and all kitchen supplies ( except a bin ). Great relaxing getaway. Great bush walks and swimming creek.

No washer as adv, nor in DUNGOG, (50km away)
The facilities are well kept ! The place needs a frying pan. The maps e.g. GUM TREE WALK are INCORRECT, they are Gov't handouts, & when it states YOU ARE HERE, you ain't, you're 6/10 km away. Finding the place REQUIRES a GREAT ELEMENT OF LUCK, others previously stated poor directions. Both of the above map deficiencies are EASILY CORRECTABLE. WIFI was not listed as an amenity, BUT A normally ASSUMED amenity. It would be fairer to the guests to STATE, NO WIFI @ this location. 12 or 14 years ago I was there, knowing today, what I NOW KNOW, I WOULD RETURN AGAIN.

Starry night in wilderness
I was very disspointed that the gas fire was not working...Tony did leave us witha bottle of wine and offered a refund but I couldnt find anywhere else to book but I was glad we still went. Its pristine wilderness and teh cottage is spacious for 2 ppl and had a nice bbq and jet spa bath .We went for teh bush walk which is at the doorstep and at night watched the stars from the Tennis court. The caretaker Darren was very friendly and the neighbourhood felt very safe.Lots of wildlife.Tony checked on us if we were ok and the cabin had a landline so we were connected to our families still
