Amazing Peaceful Vacation Property
We celebrated our 33rd annual gathering with friends from around the nation. We relaxed by the beautiful pool, cooked in the gourmet style kitchen, played games, read books and went for long walks. This house was a peaceful sanctuary. The owner was very attentive to any questions we had and provided loads of information about the house and property. One of the best properties we have stayed at in our 33 years of vacation rentals.

This is the best house we’ve stayed in. The house is beautiful, modern, and in perfect condition. The host was incredibly hospitable, checking in multiple times during our stay. And the location is great - very safe, quiet, and close to various attractions. Would recommend wholeheartedly.

Family getaway with great amenities
The guest unit was a great space for groomsmen to meet and dress for wedding. Picturesque, serene, and relaxing. Spacious; a family with three generations, (21-87), experienced moments of peace, solitude. We enjoyed relaxing swims, relaxing in the jacuzzi , and quiet relaxing strolls.

Amazing home base for Big Sur vacation!
Thank you, Gerard, for making this week so incredible! Your home was perfect for our family. The 6 grandkids (and adults!) loved the hot tub and the pool. Also, all of the other activities from bocce ball to doing a scavenger hunt with all of the figurines in the beautiful garden. The property was amazing, and the house was so well stocked and comfortable. It truly felt like a luxury vacation. We absolutely want to return to this magical place. Your concern for us and frequent check-ins was appreciated. This deserves more than a 5 star rating!

Amazing Property
We have a family 7 adults and 2 children. We have 3.5 and 1yr. old grandchildren. The house was so spacious, unique, beautiful grounds. So much to do- bocce ball, swim, swing, grill, fire pit, pizza oven. The kitchen was fully stocked, the beds were very comfortable. The host family was in constant touch via text- any questions or concerns were immediately answered. Amazing trip- we will definitely go back.

A Stunning Retreat!
We stayed here over Father's Day Weekend this year with my husband's family and had THE BEST time. You won't find more attentive hosts... we were so friendly and easily in touch about pool/jacuzzi heating, pizza oven and grill usage and any other concerns. Our party consisted of 6 adults and 4 children (one family cancelled). Ample rooms, bathroooms and beds for us all- we saw a few cots and converting sofas. The property owners have really thought of every single amenity and appliance you could need for your stay. The pool was divine and we enjoyed use of the bocce ball, golf, pool and ping pong tables. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and ample linens for beds, bathroom and pool. We LOVED walking in the garden and looking at the different species of flowers and fruit growing. The kids picked a couple of ripe lemons and we made lemonade! The location was stellar- 30-50 min away from everything we wanted to do. We went to the Santa Cruz Boardwalk and Pacific Grove. With more time we would have easily visited Monterey and Carmel, but have seen those areas many times in the past.We could see that the residence is a fitting place for a small wedding- I could picture the bride and groom standing in front of the vine-covered garden arch. Parking would probably be off site and shuttle guests in and out.

Serene getaway
This home was stocked with everything you could imagine you needed plus ! All the beds were extremely comfortable. We had a blast cooking together in the chefs kitchen; laughing together at both tables, both big enough for our crew of 8. We enjoyed our daily walks through the beautiful neighborhood! Already chatting about a return visit!

An amazing property!
The house is in great shape. Lovely spaces that are well appointed, an amazing kitchen, all sorts of amenities, including a wine refrigerator in the back pantry. I could go on. All sorts of things to do for all generations. Nice pool and jacuzzi with pool cover, easy and safe. Ping pong, bocce, outdoor spots for early morning coffee or evening wine and cheese. Master bedroom has a little seating area. The grounds are very nice and the neighborhood is great for walking. Near Laguna Seca for car aficionados. About 20 minutes from wonderful golf courses. Our host checked in every morning to make sure things were going well. He couldn't have been nicer. Highly recommend it.

Elegant & Easy
This beautiful home was a perfect retreat for us during our daughter's wedding weekend just a short drive away in Carmel Valley. The house and pool were pristine, the kitchen was well stocked with essentials, beds were comfortable (even the pull-out couches). Our sincere thanks to owner Gerard for his tips, availability with questions and gracious manner of making his house feel like our home. Wouldn't have changed a thing.

Lovely multigenerational gathering
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. It was clean and well appointed. The backyard was everything 4 little kids (age 5-10) could ask for. Gerard heated the pool nice and warm, and they were able to be pool bound from morning to bedtime during a chilly week. And, when they decided they needed a break, they were able to play table tennis, bocce ball and more. We actually used the 4 ovens and 2 dishwashers and the grill. In doors was lovely and plenty of space for 10, but we basically were hardly indoors except when cooking. Gerard was super responsive and checked in on us to make sure we were taken care of. Thank you!!

Meticulous, high quality, kitchen was WELL prepped for smoothies, waffles, pizza, platters, seasonings and beyond basics. Lots of walking inside :) One elevation change inside, but easy to skip that. Pool was heavenly and generous toys. Will stay again.

A perfect 60th Anniversary Celebration
To summarize our experience would have to be Perfection! This beautiful home had everything and more than we expected. The home was spotless and very spacious. We celebrated a family reunion with three generations. Our two grandsons took the guest house which was perfect for them to hang out and play their video games. The kitchen was furnished with everything we needed. If we wanted something, we found it in a drawer or cupboard. Can't think of any kitchen item that wasn’t available. The landscaping was well maintained and offered beautiful views from each window. Great spots to just wander through and explore. Had a problem with the microwave and contacted Gerard. Immediately he sent Brian to replace it. Gerard responded to all of our questions and gave advice on where to go. He was amazing. We all agreed that this was a remarkable home and a extremely attentive host. Would recommend Markham House to anyone wanting a perfect getaway.

Everything You Need Is There

This property has it all!
This is a wonderful home that 3 families could comfortably share and never leave! Gerard is an amazing host who provided detailed help to ensure we had a great stay. The house was designed for comfort and space, but has great rooms that can bring everyone together. Fully stocked kitchen and an amazing pizza oven that was so much fun to use. The kitchen is fully stocked (I could imagine hosting Thanksgiving here) with everything you can think of. The rooms are comfortable and there are 2 roll away beds that made it flexible to have kids stay with each other. The pool/hot tub are easy to use and are heated so you can enjoy even with cooler weather. Either than the grocery store, there really was no reason to leave. The property is an easy 45 minute drive to Carmel Valley so you have some restaurant options. Grocery store is convenient. Great hiking/walking loop within the gated community.

Best home and host in the whole wide world!
Gerard, the host of this magnificent home made our vacation the best ever. The home and grounds literally heal you! There are so many things to do at home we created our own olympics. I took gold in Bocci ball. This is a very special VRBO and we will go back again and again. Thank you Gerard for being so attentive to our good time. Nothing but love for you and your home❤️
