## Emplacement
A privateer city facing the sea, Saint-Malo is today a renowned seaside resort. Surrounded by ramparts, the enclosed city of Saint-Malo was admirably rebuilt in the same way after its 80% destruction in August 1944. It is a superb ensemble that forms the Malvinas city, with its ramparts, its castle and its beautiful buildings. A must-see, the promenade des ramparts offers splendid views of the sea, the sandy beaches at the foot of the ramparts, the National Fort (the work of Vauban), the harbour and the buildings of the city within the walls. To get acquainted with the history of Saint-Malo, head to the great keep of the castle which houses the museum of the history of the city and the Malouin country. Visitors can also visit the Grand Aquarium of Saint-Malo, an area entirely dedicated to the marine world. Every four years, the city of Falkland welcomes the start of the Route du Rhum, a famous solo transatlantic sailing race that connects Saint-Malo to Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe.
