The accomodations were perfect for our family of 11 adults and 5 young children, as we gathered from three different locations. If anything, the place is larger than it looks in the photos. Beautiful location, with easy access to the Buffalo River and hiking. Kitchen is well-stocked. Host is super-responsive - both before and during our stay. Highly recommend it!
We had 10 adults staying here for two nights. We enjoyed canoeing one day down the Buffalo and relaxing by the firepit at night. 3 rooms on main level (2 kings, 1 queen) and 2 rooms upstairs (2 kings + 2 twin beds in each room upstairs too). Nice porch to sit and watch the sun set over the trees. Really had a nice time.
If there were any suggestions I would say bring kleenex and toilet paper (the TP was some discount corporate brand) and maybe a big bath towel (the bathroom towels were on the smaller size and fairly broken in by previous renters). Those are little things though and the property and atmosphere there was very nice.
The house is well appointed, clean and as listed. There are fun games to play, and plenty of dishes for large groups. However, it was having some plumbing issues when we were there. One of the bathrooms actually rained into the living room closet. The basement apt had issues too. A handyman came out, but couldn’t fix it while we were there. We just shared and had 1 less bathroom. Oh and the hot tub was yucky but we didn’t want to use it anyway.
We had 18 family members meet for a float trip on the Buffalo River. We rented the top two floors of the Lodge. It was beautiful and adequately met our needs. It was very clean and the check in process was easy. Communication was great and they answered all our questions. Very well stocked kitchen. The pull out sofa beds were futons and really could not hold two adults, but we used them for kids and one adult. The toilets are a bit low for the elderly in our group, so I might suggest installing some grab bars by the toilets and for the showers. The step up onto the front porch was also a bit tall for one of our elderly family members who was recovering from some recent health issues (they wanted to be part of the family gathering). We had renters in the lower portion of the house both nights we stayed. It was two different parties. Both of those parties were a bit confused by our presence and I had to assist them to understand they were renting the lower level and we had the rest of the house. It was fine, but more communication might be needed to let the parties know that someone else is renting a portion of the home. Overall, it is 5 stars!!
The lodge was beautiful and extremely clean. The owner was quick to respond to any questions I had as well as very accommodating.
We asked to check in a couple of hours early and she arranged for that to be possible.
The property was beautiful.
My only complaint was the AC. We are from Louisiana so we are very used to the heat, however when we sleep we want it cold.
The upstairs rooms were very warm (understandably so) so we turned the AC down to 68. Every time we would leave and come back it was back on 70. The owner was wirelessly turning it up when we left. I understand electric bills are crazy expensive right now but we paid a lot of money and didn’t want to air to be changed unless we were changing it.
Other than that it was a great vacation spot!
This house was large enough to hold all 17 of us! Very comfortable and beautiful scenery. The living room furniture has definitely seen its better days - should really be replaced! Other than that, this was a great place to stay.
Lodge was very clean and roomy. Beds were comfortable. There was plenty of cookware, but much of it was in pretty bad shape; I will bring my own next time. You may want to specifically ask about the hot tub prior to your stay. We found that it had no water in it, which was a little disappointing, but not a deal killer. We'd book again for a similar gathering.
We got lost a few times, but the lodge gave us plenty of space to stay and relax. The game room was neat, but pool sticks were pretty worn, so if pool is your thing, bring a stick or two. Also, not an issue for us, but it’s about a half hour from a store. Bring what you need or plan for an hour of drive time.
Our family group of 9 stayed at the Lodge for a float trip on the Buffalo River. The cabin is very roomy & everyone loved having their own space and bath! Nicoleta was quick to respond to all my questions prior to the trip & also once we arrived. We rented the kayaks & canoes they had available & they were awesome to load the trailer for us. This cabin is close to access point North Maumee which was very convenient. The road to the cabin got some negative reviews & I was concerned but it really wasn't a big deal so don't let that sway you from this great cabin. Thank you Nicoleta for
your wonderful hospitality!
The place is great. Very roomy. Nicolette was fantastic to work with. All in all we would of loved the place without the quiet time. A few things I would change is definitely quiet hours. When you’re on vacation with 19 people you have to expect game nights, chatting by the fire, and some noise from the kiddos walking around. We appreciate how Nicolette handled it but maybe change it to midnight at least. Also the laundry room should be described that it’s down the road. And maybe clean it up some and get lighting. We would come home late and wash the wet clothes for the next day. And lastly some more big pans. When you are cooking for that many people it would help.
Fantastic property for anyone looking for lots of room for family and/or friends. Very clean. Good location. Lots of things to do. Terrific owners who make the rental seamless. Could not recommend this place any higher! We will be back!
We absolutely loved the Buffalo Lodge! So beautiful and spacious (much more spacious than the pictures show)! Great space for large gatherings. We had ages 2-63 and everyone loved it!

We planned this back in July...wanting to get away with just our kids and grandbabies for Thanksgiving. The place was nice, but we were sad the hot tub was not working as that is something we look for when we travel. Wish there was more info about things the lodge didn't come with...ie kitchen items! We loved the lodge and the owners were attentive when we asked questions...and it was def a nice getaway!
Side note, the road to get to the lodge is VERY CURVY and made 4 of us VERY sick!!!
Getting there is a windy road that required some Dramamine. The place is awesome and not far from lots of trails and the Buffalo River. We went for a long weekend. Make sure to check what they provide and what they don’t. Also double check what’s there. Some stuff we brought we needed, others a previous group left behind and we didn’t realize it (coffee filters). Plenty of space for everyone. There were people downstairs in the other rental. They were friendly, and we didn’t bother one another. They let us use the fire pit, which was great and the kids loved sitting around playing games in the evening.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house has a nice kitchen, great big dining room table, and plenty of space. Each upstairs bedroom is huge. They are so big you could sleep a lot of people in each one.
The lodge Is great. There was plenty of room for our group. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms were clean. The outdoor spaces were fantastic. Sadly, the hot tub and air hockey table were out of order.
They say your cousins are your first real friends. That is certainly true in my family and these past three days we had three generations at this property. There was plenty of room for everyone and everyone wants to do it again next year. Highly recommend and awesome communication with the owner!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay until 3am Friday night when we were awakened by loud talking in a language we could not understand and it sounded like it was right outside our bedroom door in the kitchen. This caused us to have to call 911 because we felt our lives were in danger. The sheriff office did finally reach the owner as we stayed on the phone and she informed them that a group was due in to occupy the bottom floor. That was not an issue, the issue was that we were not told someone would be coming in that late and not to be alarmed. We have never experienced such fear that this incident brought on and ruined the end of our stay. All that needed to happen to prevent this was a text from the owner to let us know.
