Chalet le Dahu is perfectly situated directly opposite the ski lift, ESF ski school and ice rink in the centre of La Grande Terche - the mountain village of Saint Jean d’Aulps. This beautiful chalet offers unparalleled access to the lifts of Roc d’Enfer.
The chalet is artisan built to a very high standard comfortably sleeping twelve adults in six large bedrooms. It is spacious throughout and has both sauna and steam rooms, ideal accommodation for families and friends on holiday together.
Morzine, Avoriaz and Lets Gets are nearby and easily accessible,
by car or ski bus, giving you freedom to explore the twelve linked Alpine resorts of France and Switzerland, which make up the vast Portes du Soleil ski area.
The Roc d’Enfer ski area at La Grande Terche is one of the best kept secrets of Portes du Soleil, uncrowded skiing for all abilities - 50km of pisted runs and excellent off-piste skiing for the more adventurous - you will rarely find a queue whilst skiing in this area.
The slopes at the top of the gondola are perfect to learn the basics, then enjoy the freedom of the quiet runs and the incredible views of Mont Blanc and Dents du Midi at the top. For those not skiing but wanting to join in the fun, watch from the sunny terrace of the mountain restaurants, an easy meeting point, or head back to the chalet for lunch.
The Circuit du Roc d’Enfer is a scenic 20km route of great skiing for all, including two 5km runs. It is truly magical, often skiing on empty slopes, with opportunities for off- piste skiing and black runs, or enjoy the route through the forest and stop at the restaurants en route.
Chalet le Dahu has a large terrace to soak up the sunshine and spectacular mountain views, the perfect place to watch skiers on the ‘home run’ or to enjoy lazy summer afternoons. After a day on the slopes, relax in the sauna or the steam room and then take a short stroll to the local bars and restaurants.
The convenience of being at the very heart of La Grande Terche makes organising your skiing holiday easy. Portes du Soleil and Roc d’Enfer lift passes can be purchased at the lift station opposite the chalet, the ski passes for Roc d'Enfer are exceptionally good value. Jean-Marc and his friendly team at Muffat Sports will look after all your equipment needs.
The local charcuterie/fromagerie and the Sherpa minimart for your morning croissants and other essentials are a 100m walk away. There is a Carrefour Express in Saint Jean and a large Carrefour market en route to Morzine.
The mountain restaurants at the top of the bubble, on the circuit and at the Terche are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike. Details of all amenities will be sent in the information pack before your arrival.
To ski the twelve linked Alpine resorts of France and Switzerland, of the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, it is an easy drive from the chalet to the free parking at the Ardent cable car. This takes you directly to Les Lindarets bowl with lifts to Avoriaz, Morzine, Chatel and Champery to mention just a few. For those not wanting to drive there is a free shuttle bus down to St Jean d’Aulps tourist office from outside the chalet where you connect with the ski buses into Morzine and Ardent.
