Holidays in the monument combines heritage preservation and tourism. Historically valuable Bauzeugen be taken, gently renovated and rented as apartments. The model allows a double win: The monuments received a new future and the holiday guests experience a stay in an exceptional building. The idea is realized by the foundation Ferien im Baudenkmal (FiB), which was founded in 2005 by the Swiss Homeland Security.

TÜRALIHUS - Baroque town house with a striking stair tower
History & Information
The Türalihus is one of several stately townhouses in Valendas. The oldest part dates from the 1485th In later phases of construction to the north has been extended, increased and grown a stair tower, which still gives the house its name. The smaller apartment is on the first floor. Against the street side there is a room with floral motifs and a massive tower furnace. The room layout was retained and flooring, paneling, paintings and the ovens have been carefully restored. The kitchen has been updated with modern facilities while retaining the old hearth and also installed a bathroom. The two sleeping chambers are located in the former storerooms behind the house.
renovation
responsible for the renovation were the architects Ilanzer Capaul & Blumenthal. It was necessary to preserve the original structure and the unique character of the house: worn stone steps, blackened bodies in the old kitchen, painted paneling and stoves in the rooms still bear witness to the builder time. The restoration work was followed by a strictly conservative approach and can be tagged with "courage to fragment" rewrite. The parlor was deliberately left with the still partially existing first painting and the raw, oiled wooden floors. The modern fittings in kitchens and bathrooms and the contemporary furnishing prove how well old and new can be combined.
After removal of a crumbling coarse broom throwing plaster from the 20th Jh. Came fragments from five different versions from the period 1465-1775 to the fore, which illustrate the complex construction of this house in an impressive way. Maintaining the juxtaposition of different staggered versions became the guiding principle of the facade restoration carried out between 2010 and 2012.
