Pillar Rock Retreat Guesthouse

The quintessential Pacific NW getaway! This river retreat is nestled in front of a scenic hillside, has panoramic Columbia River views, and across the walkable road to private beach access. Relax in a natural sanctuary on the mighty Columbia River. This cozy single bedroom features a comfortable queen bed, queen-sized sofa bed, complete kitchen, and laundry. Wildlife abounds in our pristine area and only the soft notes of nesting geese and loons can be heard at night.

This recently-remodeled home sits separately from the main house and is a safe-haven: ideal for individuals, couples, or a small family in search of a private coastal vacation.

Inspired by the grove of red woods in the backyard, the house has a cozy, treehouse feel and a new 400 square-foot deck with a cozy nook to take in the view even when it's raining.

The living room has a new pull-out bed and the bedroom has a comfortable, new queen-sized mattress.

The kitchen is stocked with all necessary cookware and accessories, basic seasonings, coffee/tea, and has full-sized appliances.

Work from the River! We offer high-speed, fiber-optic Internet access.

Your hosts split their time between Portland and Pillar Rock. We will let you know when and if we'll be on-property. Whether we’re there or not, you’ll find the guesthouse to be private, quiet, and relaxing.

We love dogs and allow them with notice and the following criteria:
- Please tell us about your dog before booking
- No large breeds - under 35 pounds please (the house is not large enough for bigger, more powerful dogs)
- Dogs not allowed on bed or couch, nor should they be left alone in the house

Guests will have access to the full home and yard, a shady redwood-treed backyard, and our secluded, lovely, wild beach. Your front-yard fire pit is stocked with fire starter, wood, and marshmallow roasting forks.

The nearest grocery store is 35 minutes away and our road is rural and curvy. Come prepared with all of your provisions so that you can truly relax, enjoy, and leave the world behind.

Perfect Respite!
We stayed at the Pillar Rock Retreat during the Strawberry Moon and it was the perfect place to get some stunning photos! Rest and relaxation were what we needed. Holley was gracious and super communicative. The guesthouse was very comfortable and perfect for us. Appreciated the dog towels and little touches like that. The deck is large with sunny and shaded areas with comfortable seating. We loved watching the different ships go by and looking on the cell phone app for all the interesting details regarding each ship. We hope to return in the future!

Peaceful boho beach stay
This was such a wonderful property. It was so comfy and had all amenities for to make it perfect for a day adventuring and night resting watching the stars and the boats pass on the river from the views on the deck. The upgrades and decor was very well done and made it an enjoyable stay. Thank you!!

Serene Simplicity At Its Best!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pillar Rock Retreat Guesthouse! We didn’t want to leave. Holly and Lorenzo were kind, communicative, and provided every necessity and more. One of their cats who roams the property kept us company outside; very sweet! I personally really appreciated the vegan friendly hygiene and cleaning products provided. The views were spectacular! We took short walks along the wooded road and private beach, soaking up the fresh air and nature. In the evening the fire pit allowed us to enjoy s’mores and warmth. Couldn’t ask for much more. Highly recommend!

Wonderful and comfortable place, with a fantastic view over the Columbia river. It is very remote location, but we like that.

Beautiful secluded getaway
We had a wonderful time staying at this property. Each night we had a fire and had some deer friends come by which was so fun to watch. The host cut up extra firewood for us on our second night which was very kind as well. We brought our bikes and biked to Duffy’s, a recommended Irish pub. The road in had very little cars and made for a very fun and slightly challenging bike ride! Highly recommend for a relaxing and secluded stay outside of town.

Perfect for ship spotting
My grandson was in heaven watching ships. This property is along the river and in the country. We were happy with the quiet evenings. Wish we had the time to spend another day or two. The kitty's took to my grandson and he truly enjoyed hanging with them. Thank you for sharing your little place with us.
