A tour in the surroundings
Villa Gordiani is an archaeological park in Rome that contains the remains of a vast patrician villa, traditionally identified with that of the imperial family of the Gordians, who gave three III century Roman emperors, Gordiano I, Gordiano II and Gordiano III. Three hundred-year-old basilicas were built in this complex, that is, 100 feet long.
Among the remains of the Tor dè Schiavi complex, there are the remains of the Octagonal Hall, a Roman building from the 3rd century BC. C., probably a nymphaeum, with an octagonal base and with round openings for internal lighting. The dome, round and sixth floor, was filled with amphorae to lighten its weight.
