Stay Clear of Vacasa Rentals
Great location BUT.... Stay clear of any home Vacasa rents. If you run into any issues they are not accomidating. We asked for a courtesy late check out of 2hrs & they stated late check out was not offered by the homeowners. This was after we received an email stated late check out WAS available. They then stated it was for a fee & had to accept by 4pm. This was impossibility as fiber lines were cut and there was no internet, phone or 911 communications on Rodanthe. They then said it wasnt available bc they had to clean for the next guests. Went online to check & the house was not rented after our stay. List of issues with this home.....Nasty hot tub when you turn the jets on, beds were dirty & previous renters socks were in the bed, rotted picnic table that where a board fell off onto my grandchild, no blinds on entry door, kitchen light & bathroon light out, curtain falling down, twin bed upstairs falls over when you roll over & there is no daybed in the loft as advertised in the listed photos leaving one guest on the couch. Contacting Vacasa through the app leads to automated responses... Stay clear.

Good stay but house needs some attention
The overall stay was good. We loved the hot tub and the close proximity to the beach. Wish the pool was not so far away in Avon. The house is in need of many repairs to include an entry door that is falling apart making it very hard to open/shut. The downstairs toilet is constantly refilling. Numerous deck handrails are missing and since the deck is old many rusted nails sticking up that easily catch bare feet. Almost every wall in the house has damaged areas. We had to call VACASA three times due to missing sheets and entry codes that stopped working.

June 2024 stay
House definitely needs some updates. Key pad was a pain in the butt majority of time to get in, made company aware in hopes it’ll get fixed. Some of the lights were finicky. Shower on main floor does not drain well. House served its purpose and we had a great week. Location in regards to the beach is great. Walls are rather thin and you’re in the middle of two houses rather close so if you have reactive dogs, this may not be the best spot for ya. I saw complaints about dog hair and such, this is a dog friendly home and with any dog friendly home you’re gonna find dog hair and dirt no matter how good you clean. If you’re looking for a nice fancy house this ain’t it. If you’re looking for a home with basic amenities and great location to the beach you’re set!

Decked out - Never again!!
We arrived to a dirty house. Animal fur, sand and dust covered the furniture and floors. The beds had grains of sand in them. The carpet upstairs was stained. The master bedroom had a major hole in the wall that was obviously dug by a previous renter’s dog. That hole was “hidden” with a night stand. The window upstairs in the “kids room” had a rotted out lock and window seal. Not only is this a safety hazard, this caused the window to make a horrible buzzing sound every time the wind blew. Maintenance came in and “fixed” it with duct tape. There are no screens on the windows, either. The kitchen does not come with any basics (salt, pepper, etc) which is not mentioned in the listing. The screen doors do not close properly, which is an ‘escape hazard’ for those traveling with little kids or dogs. We had 5 adults with us. They provided us with 3 bath towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper for a 6-night stay. The hot tub was disgusting. The water was green, the walls were covered with slimy mildew. It smelled like a dirty fish tank. When the pool guy came the next day, he said he was not aware that anyone was scheduled for this home. We couldn’t use the hot tub for 2 days of the stay. The gas grill was dirty and the propane tank was empty, so we couldn’t use it for meals. Customer service told us we had to bring the tank to their local office to replace it. Loose rusty nails all over the decks. Keep your shoes on and consider a tetanus shot before you book here!! Never again!!

Nice place but needs updates
The place was clean but needs upgrades. The kitchen needs new pots and pans, container with lids to store leftovers. The mattress needs replacing so uncomfortable. Access to beach fooled us the picture showed pathway to beach and you can see the ocean. So picture must have been taken from highest deck. Someone thats older and back trouble could not climb the sand to go to beach. I chose this place from the how it looked to walk to beach but disappointed. When we arrived we couldn’t get the code to open door so it was over hour to get in. The next day we didnt know what to do to lock up to get back in. A nice young man was sent to help us and was very nice and helpful.

Very ideal location, with very easy access to the beach, house does need a couple of updates, in terms of the flooring. Overall enjoyed the visit, with everything going smoothly!

Place is ok but dated. Be careful of the deck stair and rails. Many are loose. Nice kitchen things.
All good except almost broke a leg on third flight of stair to top deck. A piece of the step broke as they were coming down and the spindles are loose in many places. Dangerous.

We contacted the property manager twice during our stay and still have not heard from them. The internet did not work, therefore the TV (roku) did not work. That a major disappointment during our trip since it was off season. The dishwasher leaked on the kitchen floor so we were not able to use it the remainder of the trip. The kitchen was not well stocked- potholders or even chip clips would have been nice. There was quite a lot of pet hair and sand on the furniture. I know this is a pet friendly location (we did not bring a pet) and it is the beach so we expected some but this could have been easily vacuumed or brushed off by housekeeping. There are several pet stains on the carpets upstairs. The house needs lots of TLC- there was a broken lattice piece by the hot tub with a replacement just leaned against the house - would have been nice if that had been fixed before our stay so we could have had more privacy and wind protection in the hot tub. The proximity to the beach access was very nice.

What you see is NOT what you get.
I have rented many homes and have never seen a home that is in the condition like this one. To say is was not clean is an understatement. This house was filthy. I immediately contacted VACASA and requested that someone come out and clean the home asap. For 2 days I was told they were sending someone yet they never did. On the 3rd day someone finally contacted me but we had less than 24 hours before we checked out. I have many pictures to show the condition of the home but I don’t think I can post them here. I will never rent this home again and it’s sad because it has a lot of potential but along with it being very unsanitary the house has not been kept up. There are many repairs that need to be taken care of.

My wife and I had a nice relaxing stay here. The house was clean and as advertised. The hot tub was great to use after a long day and so close to the beach you can hear the ocean all day. Would definitely rent again

Wonderful thanksgiving vacation
House was located just a min walk from the beach, in a very quite neighborhood. Had everything we needed , and a kitchen that had all the basics for cooking. Was exactly what we were looking for. It’s a bit of a drive to all the main parts of kitty hawk and duck. But the quite area and beautiful scenery more then made up for that.
