Cottage by the Sea

This warm, inviting and recently renovated Rockaway Beach getaway sits on the west side of Highway 101, just across a quiet street from miles of sandy beach. Perfect for memorable family vacations, this three bedroom cottage is filled with cozy charm and nestled between a natural wetland pond and the ocean in the popular southern area of town. From the moment you first drive up, you'll be charmed by the beachy exterior and big front porch, complete with Adirondack chairs for sitting back and relaxing with a morning cup of coffee!

Once inside, there's ample coastal character, with ship replicas on the mantle, a white paneled ceiling, and seashells decorating the tables; but, you'll also find a touch of traditional style courtesy the oriental rugs and hardwood floors. There's a colorful brick wood fireplace so bring some wood with you, cable TV with DVD player, comfy seating, and room for the whole family to spread out and watch a movie or find their own quiet place to curl up with a good book.

The full kitchen is well-stocked with all the appliances, pots and pans, dishes, cooking utensils, and dinnerware you need to serve a group of hungry beachcombers. Pick up some fresh seafood at the market and whip up a delicious fish dinner in no time! There's even a dishwasher for easy clean-up. The full-sized washer and dryer are also located in the kitchen and ready for your wet beach clothes after a day of exploring.

A formal dining room has ample seating for meals or there's plenty of space on the back deck to have an outdoor feast. Accessed through a glass door from the kitchen, the deck is outfitted with an outdoor table and patio umbrella for shade. After spending the day at the beach, fire up the gas grill and cook up some juicy burgers for a laid-back summer barbecue. And, after the kids have gone to bed, you can spend cool, clear evenings on the deck with a glass of wine.

This home has three bedrooms and one full bath, all located on one level. Two of the bedrooms contain trundle day beds, each with its own collection of colorful throw pillows. With flexibility in mind, these beds can convert into two twin-sized beds, perfect for two younger kids to share a room, or stay as a single twin bed for an older child. These rooms are decorated pleasingly for maximum comfort, with dressers, reading lamps, and soft bedding. The couch in the living room converts to a queen-sized pull-out sofa bed for extra sleeping options.

The third bedroom has a full-sized bed with a cozy comforter, bedside table, reading lamp, and a window that lets in lots of natural light. It has a vintage, vintage-chic feel that will have its occupants feeling soothed and contented in no time. With its three bedrooms, this cute little cottage will sleep everyone comfortably. It's also dog-friendly as well, so bring your furry family member along for some quality time playing in the surf for an additional fee.

While this cottage is definitely welcoming and very comfortable, one of the best features is its prime location. Right off the back patio and yard is a large, natural wetland pond with lily pads, aquatic plants, and other scenic features. A very relaxing afternoon can be had watching the kids play in the back or being on the lookout for great blue herons out in the pond.

With beach access right across the street, you are literally steps from miles of pristine sandy beach. Spend the day building sand castles, flying kites, looking for shells, or simply laying out under a big umbrella. The cottage is also located only a half mile north of one of the most recognizable views in Rockaway Beach: Twin Rocks. Be sure to bring your camera for some stunning sunset pictures starring this geologic feature.

Want a little change from all the peacefulness of your beach cottage? Head about a mile north and hit the quaint downtown area for shops, restaurants, and galleries. Stock up on local saltwater taffy and handcrafted fudge at The Picnic Basket, or maybe start the day with a hearty homemade breakfast at the Whale Spout.

For a fun day trip, drive north up the coast stopping at Wheeler for a little antiquing, Manzanita for lunch at Bread and Ocean, then onto Cannon Beach for an afternoon of hiking in Ecola State Park or gallery-hopping along the picturesque downtown streets.

If you're ready to make some family vacation memories on the Oregon coast, come enjoy this cute and cozy Cottage by the Sea!

Location is amazing!
This was our second stay at this cute house. Pros — location is amazing and it’s comfy overall. Cons — found the house to be a bit on the shabby side and in need of a few updates. We were also surprised that, while there were plenty of spices in the kitchen, there were not any condiments. So be sure to bring them with you so you don’t have to pay beach town prices for them!

Older but cozy
When we walked in the first thing I noticed was the old house smell. I felt like I had walked into Grandma's house. If you like old this is a great choice. Well cared for and decorated fantastically. The beds are soft and comfy. Rooms are small, but that is to be expected in an old cottage. We loved it there. Bathroom has a nice tub and shower. The mirror could use a brighter light. Be aware and always check the amenities list. There are no cable channels. So no TV shows to watch. Supposed to have Netflix but it didn't work for us. Was able to enjoy the fireplace for one night. But one has to go find their own firewood. A short walk to the beach and that was fantastic. What a view!

Overall good
Love how well stocked it was with household & kitchen appliances & supplies was stocked also with some foods, dish soap, laundry soap. Having washer/dryer was a plus. Cable, internet, many games, some DVD'S, Quick walk to the beach.. Even though an older home, had fireplace, different sources for heat. Was very happy with our accommodations.

Company run
The house was nice, close to the ocean. I’m not sure I’ll stay in a Vacasa run vacation home again. Communication was automated and/or hard to get a hold of. I like the personal touch of working with a owner ran vacation home.

Great location
Cute cozy little house in a great quiet location close to the beach. Kitchen and bathrooms were very clean, but being a pet friendly house the comforters on the beds should be cleaned after each visit. I found a nasty smelling dog spot on the main bedroom extra comforter on the foot of the bed. And the house is old so if staying in the winter it gets cold in the bedrooms due to no central heating, but they provide plenty of space heaters. Kitchen is well stocked and there are lots of games and books to entertain you. I love the added touch of the historical black and white photos of the house and its first owners. The only other downfall about this house is that it’s operated by Vacasa. They have less than desirable customer service and are the only company I know that only provides a “starter kit” of two rolls of toilet paper for your stay…the rest is up to you to provide. How hard is it to leave a couple extra rolls under the sink??

Relaxing Family Beach Vacation
We had a great time and the house was exactly what I was hoping for. This was our first vacation in 3 years and we wanted a quiet beach getaway. It was wonderful to be able to have our dog with us. Pros: Perfect size, well appointed home. Really short walk to beach access. Beach has very few people and it's an absolutely gorgeous stretch, clean soft sand and amazing view of Twin Rocks. Small sleepy beach town. Plenty of seating in the home and outside on the deck. Beautiful yard, lots of beach toys and board games provided. Daytime steam train was a special treat for train-geek husband. Washer and dryer in the kitchen so you can wash all the towels and sandy beach clothes you need to. Plenty of bedding and blankets provided. Beds are comfortable and seem fairly new, on the soft side. Newer propane grill was easy to use and fantastic. Lots of room in yard and driveway for kids to play. We cooked most meals at home, all appliances are newer and worked great. Cons: Water pressure in the shower is TERRIBLE to the point it's dangerous in that slippery tub too high off the floor. It's very difficult to get hair and body rinsed, and the tub stays too slippery without enough water flow to clear out soap. The house itself has great water pressure, the tub/shower does not. The bathroom door gets stuck on the frame and really needs to be fixed so you can easily close and lock it. The pillows are terrible, they flatten down to a hard pancake, miserable for side sleepers. Far more pros than cons, would return again to this vacation home.

Cute little cottage
We loved our stay here! Super close beach access. Beautiful big yard for the kids to play in. Ample outdoor seating. Good sized kitchen and living area. Loved the addition of the dog kennel. Thank you. There was no extra toilet paper or garbage bags, but called Vacasa and they brought some over. A small suggestion, Black out curtains in the east facing room would be nice. Beach toys, chairs, boogie boards, lots of towers and blankets... just a great little place!!!

Quaint cottage
I rented this cottage for 5 days. My son and his family came to visit on the weekend. It was perfect. Rained on and off but my dog loved running on the beach that seemed to go on forever and the kids had a blast flying kites. Rooms are small but nice big living room. Perfect for a quiet getaway.

Ive stayed here 5 times
So I love this house and the location cannot be beat. You are one block from the beach on the beach side of the highway and the deck and pond are lovely. The space is wonderful. Big kitchen, laundry, dining room and big living room. Soooo nice with kids. However... the beds are not super comfortable and the fireplace/chimney are super smoky. Like I said, I have stayed in this house 5 times despite this and have two more reservations in the next year... so those are my two little issues with the house, the rest of it is heaven.

Cozy, such a great getaway
My second stay here and I like it even better now. Well stocked and spacious kitchen means you can cook and relax while doing it. The grounds are especially inviting, with a reading bench overlooking the pond and I nice yard. I always use the fireplace to make the living room even more cozy in the evenings, and of course, the beach at twin rocks just seconds away is the best. I’m hooked.

A Fantastic Vacation House!
Love how cute, cozy, and quaint the Cottage by the Sea is - it is was in a perfect location between town and the beachside property we bought in 2020. The beds were comfortable, the seating worked well, great reception with WiFi and the TV, and a wonderful backyard to hang out in, get some sun, and enjoy the afternoons. A few hiccups were the burner on the stove that didn't work, and subsequently the oven door that refused to stay closed, and the sap/tar that was on the picnic table bench that I didn't realize was there and sat in it! Overall a few little things that did nothing to dampen the great time we had and or hope to get back there again! Thank you for sharing your adorable little cottage :)

Lovely, peaceful solitude
Although suitable in size for a family, friend, or sister getaway, I enjoyed a week of solitude free from obligations and stresses. I enjoyed sitting at the bench by the lilly pond in the back yard watching the birds by day and listening to the frogs in the evening. I made it through the whole Debbie Macomber's The Cottage by the Sea book provided, a perfect surprise. With the beach access so close by I could get in a walk between cloud bursts on most days and on clear days enjoy lunch with my toes in the sand while sketching Twin Rocks, front and center. A lovely place to spend my first solo vacation.
