Great!
The previous negative review had us a little worried, but our stay was fine! It’s a classic old Rochester home so yes there is no central air, but there was a window unit downstairs and a portable unit in the primary bedroom, we stayed comfortable when it was 85+ degrees out. Fun quirky older home that’s a good size for 2-4 people. Walking distance (15min) to many shops, coffee shops and restaurants.

Did not stay!
After inspecting the property in person, we (a party of 4) decided to leave and get hotel rooms. The place just did not meet our expectations. The grounds were unkempt and overgrown. Foyer smelled musty. Inside was dark because all the curtains were closed to keep out the hot June sun. We realized then that this house has no central air. Area rugs were vacuumed, but stained. Kitchen was dated but clean. Upstairs, bedrooms were stuffy. There was a portable air conditioner and a fan to service both bedrooms. We would have had to keep both bedroom doors open all night to circulate whatever cool air this generated. Hence, no privacy. Bathroom was dated, old tub; it's not pictured in the ad and we had asked the host for photos but did not receive any. Advertised as 'Downtown Rochester' which is deceiving, as it's at least a 30 minute walk to downtown. We were in town for the jazz festival and this location was not convenient. Host did not respond to any of my messages until after I had contacted VRBO, nor did they respond to my message informing them that we had decided not to stay. Very disappointed.

Charming, lovely home
We loved this well-loved, charming house! Wow! A lot of space and a clean, new feel in an older home. Well done! And dog friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

Eclipse was a bust but home was brilliant
My wife, teenager, and puppy traveled to Rochester for the first time for the eclipse and used this home as our base operations as we explored and enjoyed the sites. Ultimately the weather didn't cooperate for the eclipse but we have zero complaints about the home. It was spotless, plenty big enough, and within walking distance to any additional amenity or store we may need. Highly recommend.
