Whether it’s a Romantic getaway for 2 or a Family vacation for 6, The Beach House is your home away from home. It has two private bedrooms (One King Bed and 1 Queen and 1 Twin). There are also two couch beds in the living room. It has a full kitchen and a 500 square foot porch to view the incredible Sandy Bay sunsets and Dolphins at Anthony's Key DAILY. Sleep 7 TOTAL.

The house is fully equipped with linens, cable, WiFi, AC, cell phones, mid-week housekeeping, airport pickup* and drinking water.

The property is nestled on A Six Acre Garden of Eden with over 40 fruit trees, palm trees and its own 300 feet of private beach. The property is also gated with security guard and a resident property manager. The property is within the Marine Reserve. The reef is a 100 ft. away from the dock; the dolphin pen about a 50 ft. away.

We also have a Kayak for rent at $20 p/day.

Housekeeping may be available for cooking, cleaning, and babysitting for an additional fee.

Anthony's Key is two blocks away, as is Sandy Bay Divers. The three best restaurants are a three minute walk away. Taxis are $3-5 per person. The property is just 20 minutes from the airport and Coxen Hole.

Plus if you you have a large party, we also have another two bedroom house called the Mango House, about 150 feet from the beach alongside a stream and also a small efficiency beach cottage called The Cabana next to the ocean with one bathroom, a minimal kitchen and front deck overlooking the beach, and a 1 bedroom off the beach called The Bamboo, with a King bed.

Blue Bahia, Tranquill Seas, and Anthony's keys are all within walking distance and are open for Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

A wonderful place
Where to begin? The Santuary Beach House is a wonderful place with an amazing view. Mirium is the greatest host, very friendly and always ready to help. Johnny who is also there on the property is available for tours, and he will even cook you a meal if that is what you would enjoy. This was our first stay at this incredible house and it did not dissapoint. The location is great, walking distance to Blue Bahia Grill, and Sandy Bay Divers in one direction, and Anthony Key Resort in the other direction. Sitting directly across from the dolphin pens, you can sit on the dock and watch what goes on with the dolphins. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay, you have come to the right place. Enjoy!

Best House on Roatan
If you are looking for a relaxed, authentic, tastefully decorated Roatan beach house that is just steps from the water and some of the best snorkeling on the island look no further. This place was perfect for our family of four. The staff is wonderful and super attentive to any need. The restaurants a short walk down the beach are great (Blue Bahia and Tranquilseas). We rented a car and appreciated the freedom to be able to drive into West End and to the supermarket in Coxen Hole (each about 15 mins). The kitchen was recently upgraded and the old windows mentioned in some reviews have been replaced with brand new ones. The house has resident geckos on the walls which occasionally chirp and quietly catch any bugs that make it through the screens - a major plus. We experienced a power outage which I think is not uncommon in the winter. The beach between the house and the restaurants has had some security incidents in the last month and it was not recommended to take night strolls - but with Victor (night watchman) escorting us to dinner we felt very safe. This place is highly recommended - it is so much nicer than most of the places in West Bay / West End. Can't wait to return.

Location is everything
5 star for both location and property staff. Location: cannot be beat for snorkeling, privacy, beauty. Property staff: again Miriam, Johnny, victor are above and beyond expectation in responsiveness, information, courtesy. House: AC in both bedrooms are wonderful, however ac in living room cannot compete with lack of closing windows in kitchen and living room. Our stay was 12 days, and included necessary cooking. Because the kitchen windows did not close, the heat in the kitchen was almost intolerable. I felt it was easily remedied by a curtain between the kitchen and the living room. The kitchen would still be hot, but at least the living room AC could keep up. I Acknowledge our stay was in September which is very hot. Bugs were to be expected, but because the kitchen was very outdated it seemed that termite debris was prevalent. That said, the kitchen was well equipped. Overall 5 star but kitchen caveat. Would stay again.

Beach house on the water!
If you want direct access to the water with your own dock this is the place for you. The location was private but accessible to snorkeling, diving, kayaking, fishing and swimming. This is a local area but there are a couple of restaurants nearby. The house was spacious for our family of four. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen had every thing we needed to cook our own meals. This is an island home and not a luxury resort so expect geckos and insects but also it is surrounded by fruit trees. We had an abundance of mangos and star fruit which were in season. Miriam did an outstanding job of communicating with us about activities and how things worked in the house. She was available at all hours. (The electricity went out one night and she let us know immediately what to expect). She coordinated rides into West End, tours for snorkeling and fishing as well as visiting Jungle Maya to see the sloths. If you want to play in the water and enjoy fun without the night life off West End this is the house for you.

Relaxing stay
This is a phenomenal property for independent travelers who either want to relax, enjoy the view and the snorkeling or get out and explore. It was especially fun to be greeted by the dolphins as we snorkeled past their pen. We also enjoyed the dolphin training sessions in open water directly in front of the rental. The rental itself was comfortable, wonderfully cared for, clean and had everything we needed. That in itself, with the view and dolphins is more than enough for a 5 star review, but the icing on the cake and the thing that makes this rental stand out above the others is the staff. Miriam went above and beyond making sure we had everything we needed and when we decided to rent a car, she assisted in the process. Johnny kept the grounds looking immaculate and we also hired him to make a wonderful meal one evening. We didn’t run into Victor the night security often, but when we did, he was always friendly. It really was a wonderful place to stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to do so again if our future plans take us to Roatan.

Best beach house on Sandy Bay
For us this beach house was the best on the beach. From what I could see it was the closest to the water and it had it's own private dock that we enjoyed swimming from. It had amazing views. Waking up from the master bedroom with an expansive view of only water beyond the patio was amazing. There is a caretaker of the property that takes care of everything including rides to West End, West Bay, and to and from the airport. The care taker even drove us to Little French Key. We made sure that we paid what we would have paid other taxies. But since it was like a private service available whenever we needed it we chose to pay a little bit more. It was so nice to have someone available and to take care of us whenever we needed it. There is a security guard on the property and we felt very safe. It was fun interacting and watching locals from the neighborhood carry on with their daily activities. The beach house was very well furnished with all the spices, extra condiments, and extra things to make the trip very comfortable. Overall I would highly recommend staying here.

Wonderful family vacation
This was our second time on the island and we had another amazing vacation. We stayed in the beach house and in the cabana. Both homes were beautifully maintained with everything we needed. Halfway during our stay they cleaned and gave us fresh towels. The grounds were well maintained and the beach was raked regularly. We loved sitting out on the large deck having our morning coffee or afternoon drinks. The dock has a great sitting area at the end where we would watch the dolphins at Anthony’s Key play just across the channel. The coral reef was within swimming distance from the beach so we were able to snorkel every day seeing some beautiful fish, stingrays etc. Miriam, our hostess, was absolutely incredible. Anything we needed she would get for us right away. She made sure we also had rides to anywhere we wanted to go and arranged our excursions. She recommended some great places to eat and see. She even helped us by driving us to the hospital on Christmas Eve when our son had an emergency! The Sanctuary is located beside a local community so there is lots of activity. We would often hear dogs barking and children playing. Christmas tradition there is to set off fireworks and fire crackers so it was quite loud in the evenings and at night. We always felt very safe with Victor the night guard patrolling the grounds with his dog Roy every night we were there. We were able to walk to 3 great restaurants - Blue Bahia, Sunken Fish and Anthony’s Key. We were also able to walk to the Carambola Botanical Gardens just across the road and had a great hike to the lookout at the top of the mountain. Our other excursions were a great snorkeling trip with Oscar where we were taken to 5 different snorkeling spots and had a wonderful lunch with delicious local cuisine in Punta Gorda. Oscar also took us on a great fishing trip and when back he made us some delicious ceviche with the fish that was caught, He was a fantastic guide! We also went to Gumbalimba Park and had a great tour in this beautiful park in West Bay. The location of the Sanctuary has lots of activity with local people and boat traffic. It is easily accessible to so many places. The coral reef being within swimming distance was really wonderful as we all love to snorkel and could go anytime we wanted. I would highly recommend staying at The Sanctuary. We had a wonderful vacation there!

Everything we were looking for!
Having traveled to roatan for the last 8 years we have stayed all over the island and this was by far the best location! A short walk along the beach gets you to Blue Bahia which has excellent food! Especially love their lobster!! A short walk the other way and you are at Anthonys key where you can set up a dolphin adventure, diving, snorkeling etc. But the best place at this house is at the end of your pier, obsessively watching the dolphins, snorkeling, and watching th beautiful sunsets. Miriam and Johnny Are wonderful and do a great job taking care of you while there, and are full of good info about the island. We can’t wait to go back!!!

First time in Roatan
We enjoyed our stay at the sanctuary and would like to come back. No complaints really, however we would suggest bringing your own snorkel masks—masks provided were not very comfortable—but other than that everything was great! Miriam was very helpful—we really appreciated everything she did for us. We especially liked having the security guard on the grounds at night and safes in the rooms. We felt very safe!

Cant find a better place
You really cant find a place with a better view and relaxing atmosphere. We loved our stay. Our only recommendation is if you would like to sleep past sunrise bring some earplugs. Being in the jungle the birds come early along with other noises. Would 100% book this again without even shopping around. Absolutely delightful.

Great location in Sandy Bay
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Sanctuary in Roatan. The house was located in walking distance to our dive shop, Octopus Dive School, as well as other beachside restaurants. We loved watching the dolphins at Anthony’s Key while hanging on the porch in the hammocks. The house is well worn with some needed updating but we knew this was the case due to past reviews. John & Christy were very helpful with the house as well as suggesting restaurants and activities. Overall our family loved Roatan and hope to return soon to continue our diving adventures.

The Beach House needs some TLC but the view, snorkelling, and staff were super.
We stayed at the beach house, Sanctuary in Sandy Bay for a month. John and Christie plus the rest of the staff were responsive and helpful, checking with us daily. Lots of tips on what to see and do in the area. The beach house is in need of some updating and maintenance. The kitchen ( countertop and butcher block need replacement ) and living room need updating... living room furniture cushions don’t fit properly on couches, linens are worn and generally the place could use some TLC. That being said, the location is great...quick shuttle or collective into West End or walk to several restaurants. The view from the huge comfortable deck is spectacular. Between the dolphins and sunsets it was hard to beat. Excellent snorkelling right from the beach or dock. Best ever! Lovely ocean breezes so we didn’t use the air conditioner. Loved the fresh coconuts and bananas provided from the property. We felt safe and taken care of...All in all, a good stay at the Sanctuary.

We loved staying at The Sanctuary in Roatan
The property is exactly as pictured and described. We were picked up at the airport by the manager and he took us to a market to stock up on what we would cook during the week. John, the resident manager was most helpful and checked in with us each day to see if we needed anything and if there was anything he could do to assist us. He lives "across the street" and really made an effort to be on and about the property every day. The house is comfortable and has excellent facilities. The kitchen had every pot and pan we could ever want to use. The building is traditional and is very much open air and has a rustic cottage/cabin feel to it. We were on stilts so all of the living was 2nd floor. Our bed was excellent, the bathrooms and kitchen in excellent working order. The gardener brought us two fresh coconuts every day for a healthful drink of coconut water. It's good for you! The view from the deck is a spectacular look at open ocean, sunset, and to the right an always fascinating look to a facility where dolphins are being trained. The Beach Grill is a great place for meals you want to eat out and is a few minute's walk down the beach. All in all, it was a terrific place to stay, clean, comfortable, quiet and relaxing. We highly recommend this vacation stay.

Lovely house, lovely people
Thanks to John and Cindy for connecting us to a tour guide, fishing guide, horseback riding, and of course transport, Johnny and Omar for keeping us in coconut water, and of course the "donut lady" for making our stay at the Beach House an experience not to be forgotten! We loved the people, the area and the wonderful reef. A quick snorkel will take you to this unforgettable site, not to mention the dolphins swimming nearby and the boys on the beach playing soccer. A great spot for relaxation.

Birthday trip to remember
We arranged a trip to Roatan to celebrate a special birthday and enjoy a dolphin experience at St. Anthony's key. This location is absolutely perfect as it's right across from the dolphin lagoon - closer than the pictures show. The dock is great as it is shaded and you can get in the water off the dock and snorkel. We truly appreciated the air conditioning in the bedrooms as it was quite hot in August. If you are looking for a casual, laid back relaxing place to be or if you are adventurous and looking for really neat off the beat things to do, this is the place. And, John the property manager along with Christy, are the perfect people to help you with what you are looking for. They were very accommodating, very helpful...and a lot of fun. They introduced us to Sundowners beach bar in the West end which became a favourite right away. It's about a 5 to 10 minute cab ride which costs about $1.50 (or about 30 limps) per person. At Sundowners a few of us swam out to a boat with a huge rope swing and took a turn. Very neat! A few other favourites were the Sunken Fish and Guava Grove. The Sunken Fish is a 5 minute walk on the beach. Great food, drinks and view. Guava grove is about a 15 or 20 minute walk but so worth it. The food is fresh and so good and they make a "loaded Ceasar" which is amazing. The owners are very nice and so friendly. We did a tour one day, recommended by John, that was awesome. Shannon our driver was very knowledgeable about the island, very professional and pleasant. We went to see Sloths and monkeys, then on a mangrove tour in a cool local boat which was a highlight and then to a restaurant on the water before returning back to our beach house. Nothing fancy, very simple, local, nothing touristy, fun, relaxing, laid back, go with the flo, no expectations,....that's what we are like and that's what it was like for us. We were grateful for the opportunity and grateful for John and Christy helping to make our trip so much fun and easygoing. They also helped to arrange a birthday dinner at the beach house with the chef from 'Lilypond" restaurant and then they made a big bonfire on the beach. Truly a trip to remember. Thank you to all who work so hard in keeping the grounds maintained, and for your kindness. Thank you John and Christy for helping to make our trip so memorable and fun. Note: Unfortunately the sand fleas were terrible and it did have an effect on us so just be very prepared with spray etc.

Great Location! Right on the beach!
As soon as I opened the door and walked in, I loved it! I felt like I was at someone's very loved summer home or camp as we call it in south Louisiana. The view was amazing! The house was very clean, comfortable, and functional. The doors to the balcony could be totally opened up to allow the breezes to flow through. Great wood floors and air condictioning in both bedrooms. My husband and I didn't use the air condictioning in our room because the breeze was sufficient. We had everything we needed for a great stay. John, the property manager was very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. He even invited us out to West End for supper one night. Johnny kept the grounds around the house perfectly in order. He brought us coconuts, bananna's and different type of mangos than those around the house. Johnny even helped us find a ride into Coxen Hole on a Sunday morning so that we could attend Mass at 7:00 am. The house was located near Anthony Key Resort (a two minute walk). The dolphins (belonging to Anthony Key) were kept very near to the pier which belonged to the home. We watched them being fed, trained and while they were preforming. That was a highlight of the trip! Along the beach were several local restaurants and bars to enjoy. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to visit Sandy Bay.
