When we were trying to decide where to stay in Rishikesh we looked at Ganga Kinare and Aloha on the other side of town. As first timers we didn't know much about the layout of the town and picked Ganga based on the fact we'd have access to the boardwalk along the Ganges. It was great for a stroll for sure! So many Ashrams along the waters edge.
We did take a look at Aloha while we were in town and it was a beautiful property with a beautiful vista. Really stunning, but very windy. Ganga as a property didn't compare. It was much smaller and a bit 'tired'. But it did have access to the Ganges within a few steps from the hotel rather than a long walk down a hill from the Aloha.
Our room was large and had been updated some time ago. Shower was beautiful and hot and bed was comfy. The people really made the place. Just lovely and personable. They couldn't have been more helpful.
Yoga at 730am each day on the top floor was also a super special treat as the room had floor to ceiling windows and offered a magnificent view of the Ganga and mountains. Just gorgeous at sunrise.
The food on the buffet was Indian but adapted for westerners so it wasn't spicy enough for us - again - as soon as the staff found out they were happy to help out and make us happy.
There was an Aarti ceremony at 6pm each night on the Ganges and we took part of it and it was small, intimate and special. Highly recommended after the huge Aarti in town and in Haridwar.
