A D Coach House, situated in the quiet hamlet of Fremington in Swaledale, is an exceptional holiday home, enjoying an idyllic central location at the heart of the most northern dale of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. An extremely comfortable home from home, for six people and one well behaved dogs – it really does have everything you need to have a wonderful holiday!
This Dales cottage has recently been tastefully modernised to create the highest standard of accommodation in a beautiful location. Since the renovations A D Coach House oozes style and character with a modern twist adding to a country style theme – the old combined with the new works effortlessly.
You enter the cottage into the sophisticated kitchen diner, which offers an ideal social place for friends and family to dine and socialise together. The kitchen is extensively equipped and complemented by high quality appliances including hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, and Nespresso coffee maker.
From the kitchen you enter the welcoming lounge with a large wood burning stove, Yorkshire stone flags with underfloor heating, comfortable sofas, and large windows with views across the hills. There is also a smart TV and unlimited WiFi for entertainment.
Upstairs there is the family bathroom housing a bath with shower over, basin and WC. There are three bedrooms – two double bedrooms and one bunk bedroom.
Outside there is an enclosed patio with picnic bench to enjoy dining alfresco in the warmer months or enjoying a mug of coffee in the morning to the stunning sounds of the bird song. Beyond the patio there is also a small, enclosed, well-kept garden. What’s more, there is designated parking for two cars on the gravelled area next to the cottage with an electric charging point.
This holiday cottage is perfectly located to enjoy the best that Swaledale has to offer. Across the road from the cottage is the Dales Bike Centre and Cakery…we recommend visiting for one of their showstopper cakes or possibly the best jacket potatoes Yorkshire has to offer (in our opinion anyway!).
A short five-minute walk away in Grinton is the Cathedral of the Dales, St Andrews Church and one of the areas popular pubs, The Bridge Inn. The Bridge Inn offers a selection of well-kept ales, fine wines and of course a tasty food menu. Just ½ a mile in the opposite direction is the bustling village of Reeth with more amenities including three pubs, one hotel with bar and restaurant, five cafes, 2 bakeries, a gift shop and post office homing the village shop stocked full of essential supplies. The Reeth Market visits the cobbles just off the village green every Friday with some of the finest local suppliers in the area including a butcher, cheese monger, fish monger and a fruit and veg stall.
A D Coach House is in an ideal spot to explore the area. There are numerous walks straight from the door. Situated at the foot of Fremington Edge, don’t miss out on the stunning views from the top, after the challenging (but worthwhile) climb of course! Alternatively, sample some of the gentler lower level walks the area has to offer along the banks of the River Swale.
Cycling is extremely popular in the area, especially since the area was thrown into the spotlight hosting the Tour de France in 2014. The route remains popular for many road cyclists, as is the iconic circular ride to the Tan Hill Inn – the highest pub in England. Mountain biking is also huge here and gravel is growing in popularity. With the Dales Bike Centre so handily close hiring a bike couldn’t be easier if you don’t own your own. They offer a range of bikes from mountain bikes and road bikes to some fantastic E-Bikes.
Further afield there are some wonderful market towns to visit including Leyburn, Hawes and Richmond, which boasts a castle and Georgian Theatre.
To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all kitchen linen, bed linen and towels are provided, and the electricity is included in the rental price.
