In the centre of Reeth, you shall find Half Moon Stable. A cosy, romantic, dog friendly holiday cottage for two people which provides all the essentials you need for a fantastic holiday in the Yorkshire Dales.
Originally a stable as the names suggests, but now it has been transformed into a small but perfectly formed detached Swaledale holiday cottage. Tucked down a quiet lane just off the village green in Reeth with two pleasant outdoor seating areas and an enclosed patio – perfect for stays during the summer months.
This Reeth holiday cottage provides a cosy and enjoyable space to call your own as each action-packed day draws to a close. Downstairs is an open plan living and kitchen area, off the kitchen is the front door and tiled entrance hallway. Off the entrance hall is the downstairs shower room and the staircase leads to the upstairs double bedroom.
The cottage is heated throughout by modern electric radiators to keep you toasty warm in the winter months. It has free WIFI and a smart TV in the living area with a large comfortable sofa – ideal for cosy nights snuggled up with a glass of wine and your favourite film or a good book!
Half Moon Stable has fresh, bright décor throughout, providing a relaxing ambiance. Downstairs the light floods in through the double-glazed patio doors which leads out to one of the enclosed seating areas which is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee.
This holiday cottage is ideal for relaxing breaks surrounded by countryside with ambles straight from the door. In a central position in a picturesque village location as well as with many more stunning villages to explore just a short drive away. What’s more, it is only a minute’s stroll to the various local amenities which includes cafes, gift shops, two bakeries, post office with corner shop, ice cream parlour and of course, three great pubs serving real ales and real pub grub.
Due to the location, situated in the heart of Swaledale, within the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales National Park, it is an unbeatable getaway for keen walkers and simply perfect for those hoping to traverse the local area on two wheels. There is so much to explore from rugged, wild open moorlands to waterfalls, rivers, stunning hay meadows and fascinating mining remains from the lead mining era that the area is also famed for. There are also some long-distance trails such as the Coast to Coast and the Pennine Way that pass through Swaledale. Sections of these challenging walks can be enjoyed as day hikes straight from Half Moon Stable.
Slightly further afield, via a very scenic routes over picturesque moorland, you’ll find the popular market towns of Hawes and Leyburn. Certainly, worth a visit, especially on market days where there is a huge variety of local produce available. There are also many attractions to visit such as the Rope Makers, the Wensleydale Cheese factory, and The Dales Countryside Museum based in Hawes. Leyburn offers more amenities including The Chocolate Shop. Not so far away is the town of Richmond, with Georgian Theatre, a wonderfully restored Castle, an Abbey and again plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes, and pubs. What’s more, The Forbidden Corner at Middleham is a fantastic day out with a unique labyrinth of tunnels, chambers, follies, and surprises to explore within a 4-acre garden.
Half Moon Stable is one of our dog friendly cottages and welcome two well behaved dog. Parking is on a first come first served basis on the Village Green.
Electricity, towels, bed, and kitchen linen are included in the rental charge.

Getting there
• From A1: turn off at Scotch Corner to Richmond
• In Richmond take the A6108 and then B6270 to Reeth
• At the top of the village green continue along the road towards Gunnerside
• A few metres after the fire station take the left turn down Langhorne Drive
• Continue along this road until you see a cul-de-sac of bungalows on your left, immediately after this first cul-de-sac there is left hand turn down a narrow-tarmacked lane with a dead-end sign
• Drive down the lane until you reach wooden gates which are painted grey on your right. This is Half Moon Stable.
• you can unload / load your vehicle here, but as it is one way you must then move you vehicle to the green to park.
Accessibility
Sorry but this cottage is not suitable for those with mobility problems due to steps to access the cottage and steps within the cottage.
