We had stayed here a couple of years ago, and when we were looking for a place in the area again, we were delighted to see that this one was available. And we weren't disappointed when we got here!
Had a great weekend at Lake Canadarago and got rejuvenated prior to the school year starting! It was great being able to have a campfire and walk the dock watching our family run and play!
The epitome of an old fashioned lake house with room for lots of people. Some might consider it a bit weathered, we considered it lake house charm. We spent a lot of time on the deck, which is very large with lots of seating. Kitchen was fully stocked for cooking and eating. I hope to return sometime soon!
Not a bad stay its a nice place me and the kids had fun!
There was some garbage under one of the beds there were no garbage bags to replace full bags
And the water is not potable!
I would stay again knowin i would have to bring more things than. What i did. Was closer to a hotel stay than a vacation Property location was very nice and overall was a good stay
The lake and the view were absolutely beautiful. Kayaks, a boat and canoe were provided with life jackets. Weather was unseasonably cold during the nights and mornings. House does not have a heating system but there were plenty of blankets and comforters. Fire pit was such a nice addition for the evenings. Hope to revisit in the future
This was an easy location to get to and from the Dreams Park for games. It’s quite picturesque, we had fun taking row boat out and fishing. Also took several walks, it’s a beautiful area. The cabin was clean and checkin process easy.
My family and I stayed here for 6 days or my son’s baseball tournament at Dreams Park Cooperstown. Air conditioning in each bedroom made it comfortable. Being on the lake was very nice.
Only complaint was the shower. The shower head popped of and made it very hard to use.
Brought our 6 yr old twin grandchildren for a little getaway that is close to home. Beautiful views from the large deck. Camp is very comfortable and well equipped. Lake was very shallow off of dock. Kids did a little swimming but lake bottom is very mucky. We enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for an amazing week of fishing, boating, grilling, campfires and baseball! Duckaway2 is an easy 40 minute drive to Cooperstown All Star Village in Oneonta and provided my family a great base of operations for the week. The homeowner was great to work with and handled any issues promptly. For instance, when we notified the homeowner that the oven was not working, she had the old oven removed and a new one installed the very next day. The homeowner even drove over a fresh propane tank after 9pm when we were late night grilling after a long day at the baseball fields. We'll definitely be back to Duckaway2 when our little guy comes to town for his week at Cooperstown!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
It was glorified camping
I wish I had known water came from the lake into the house. If it was windy or anyone swimming in the lake- we could not use the water at the house as it was muddy. We had a storm for a couple days and couldn’t shower for 3 days. The stove also only worked about 15% of the time. If we were able to get a burner turned on, It would turn off every couple mins.
Wonderful host, great view snd scenery.. Was glad to have our boat docked there. Although needs some TLC with deck starting to rot, door not closing properly.
Great place on the lake. We were here for the baseball hall of fame induction and this was the perfect place to unwind after a day of baseball excitement. Great communication with the host. Important to know that you cannot drink the water. But plenty of drinking water was supplied by the host. Loved seeing the wildlife in the morning and the evening.
Was looking for a relaxing place to stay with the family while our nephew played some baseball in Cooperstown. This spot was just far enough (20-30 min) and by a nice lake.
Pros:
- Great location, right by the lake.
- They have a couple of kayaks, a row boat, and a 2 person canoe with all the accessories to paddle and row. (Make sure you bring lift jackets if you need them)
- It’s a very cute place, with a deck that overlooks the lake, plenty of room for our family of 4, and can easily sleep 2 couples and 3 kids/singles.
- Owner/caretaker was very responsive. Betty lived nearby and was around taking care of the grounds and always asked how everything was going
Cons:
- Furniture and accessories are a bit dated. Bed was not very comfortable. Coffee maker looked like it was from the 70s.
- Bugs! We stayed here during the summer. What was cool was that lightning bugs were everywhere outside! What wasn’t was that there was so many bugs inside that one of the ceilings in a room was literally crawling with bugs. Don’t think this is something the owners can control, We had windows closed and that really didn’t help. Bug carcasses were on every surface in the morning.
Has everything you need for a lakeside stay! ACs were nice on a muggy summer week. We were able to tie up our boat at the small dock, and enjoy the comfy able deck overlooking the lake.
This was a classic lake house. It's dated for sure, but that adds to the charm. The lake is right there, that picture we taken from the deck. Having 3 kayaks, a canoe, and a rowboat was perfect for our family. There isn't a whole lot to do in the immediate town, you'll need to drive at least a half hour to get to museums and other sites, but the appeal of this house is the lake.
