Lovely property with lots to do
ShangriLa lives up to its name, tucked away with a private drive separate from the adjoining neighborhood. Much of the time we felt like we were the only ones on the lake. The house is immaculate and attractively decorated. (We loved the moose dice.)
The deck provides idyllic views of the lake, framed by a weeping willow and a cedar. As it faces north, it was perfect for viewing the Aurora Borealis (picture below). There’s still a slight amount of light pollution in the area, so the Milky Way was dim, but still discernible. We saw some amazing falling stars from the comfort of the deck—surprisingly, the mosquitos go away sometime after full dark.
If star-gazing is not your thing, there’s plenty to do in the lake. Swimming, paddle-boating, kayaking, and fishing were all available. The main TV has access to streaming channels, although the couch in front of it only comfortably seats a couple of adults and two kids. Plenty of additional seating is provided, though, with indoor folding chairs and lawn chairs.
The host, Sandeep, responded quickly to all of our questions (and kindly didn’t tell us when the answers were provided on the Welcome sheet found in the kitchen counter).
We highly recommend this stay—just not the week we’ll be there!
