"The location was good. Shower is extremely SMALL. There is a shared kitchen , however it's the family's kitchen which makes it VERY uncomfortable to use. The right up is very misleading and makes it sound like the kitchen is to be shared with other guests. A seperate fridge and kettle would help. Parking is limited, however we managed to be able to park out front."

"A great three-room B&B just a few minutes' walk from the centre of the sassi area and from a variety of cafes and restaurants. The hosts were very welcoming and took a pride in maintaining the property to a high standard. The room was clean, light and of an adequate size for our purposes. "We were very pleasantly surprised by the lovely quality of this B&B. Our room was very spacious, clean with modern facilities. The owner was friendly and helpful with prompt communication. There was plenty of free street parking very near the property. The breakfast was excellent with a variety of healthy options. "Our room was done very beautifully and artistically and overlooked the Sassi Barisano for a great view. The bathroom is American sized and the room contained a large closet and cute balcony. It sits on a main piazza just a couple minutes to any of the major sites. Mimmo was an excellent host and even if we said the room didn’t need to be cleaned since we were staying only two nights, he had it cleaned anyway. We enjoyed our stay!"

"Almost everything was excellent......except for the fact that it was advertised as providing free parking, and it didn’t. I had to pay for overnight parking in a public garage.....which cost almost $30 for the night. Also, Livingston’s is really a B and B, not a hotel, and, as such, was difficult to find because, even though it’s on the Main Street in Matera, there was only a small sign attached to the building to identify it. I have found that situation in several smaller Hotels.com...

"Staff was very friendly. We arrived a few minutes after the check-in time but the nice gentleman came out to meet us. He pointed out where we could park our car on the street. He came the next morning and prepared a nice breakfast for us. Unfortunately, the air conditioner was turned off for the season and it was a warm and humid night so opening the window was no help. There was no wi-fi or TV."

"What a delightful gem! The views from the terrace were lovely. The interior of the home was stylish and cozy. It was clean, plenty of cookware and dishes. All appliances worked. Helpful hint: Follow the pin that is sent by the hosts. We didn’t do that at first and had to backtrack a bit. "

Unique and special stay in the Cave Hotel

"This hotel is one in a million. The teams on the front desk and in the restaurant were just so very professional and welcoming. The breakfast was really delicious, and catered for every different need. We had a lovely room, the pillows were a little hard but the bed was very comfortable. The lighting was ambient and really showed off the uniqueness of the room. In the suite there was no separate place to sit (as would be usual in a suite) so this was disappointing, so when it was warm enough we sat outside which was lovely to watch the beautiful swifts, house martins & swallows busy at work! Be careful of the steps up and down the property, particularly in your room if you are in a suite. It can catch you out if you are half asleep getting to the bathroom. We loved our time in the Spa too, we visited twice. The facilities were everything we needed, we didn't need more although the team there were not as forthcoming and friendly as the teams in the rest of the hotel. The massages we had were very good though. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at during our trip. Matera is wonderful and magical. Staying in this hotel really helped us feel more 'in the zone' and we loved Vito, always there to help when we needed and the reception team were also GREAT! Thank you xx"
