Situated beside a playful cascade on Moffit’s Brook, this original Log Cabin has been completely renovated with top of the line finishes overall. Custom Chef's kitchen with stainless-steel appliances and quartz-countertops. Just 63 miles from NYC, Zen Cabin provides respite from the hustle and bustle. Skylights, windows, and glass doors connect you with nature. Media-free, pet-free, and shoe-free, this gem sits in one of the most bucolic of Connecticut villages.
The space
Enter cabin via back door keypad into a large living space-combined living, dining, and cooking area. 12-foot peaked ceilings with hand scraped beams, accentuated by four over-sized skylights and an assuming stone fireplace, the light-flooded great room is peaceful. The fully-equipped Farrow & Ball/Bertazzoni kitchen features Portuguese dishwear and Italian etched bar wear from the mid-century. Ascend to two well-appointed bedrooms with hotel comfort Queen beds, laundry closet, and a modern, well-lit bathroom with spacious walk-in rain shower and views of nature. The bright front bedroom features a large closet for hanging garments. The Brookside bedroom has sights and sounds of the falls and a convertible workspace. Each is individually heated and cooled by HVAC (remote control in each room). The main living area has concealed climate control via a wall-mounted touch digital thermostat. During very cold winter visits, baseboards in every room help keep it cozy. Our modest, 1,000sf, cabin is perched on a small cliff alongside a meandering brook. It sits off of a casually traveled country road, where neighboring houses are just visible. (Redding properties are zoned upwards of 2 acres.) Our home away from home, Zen Cabin is suited for adult guests, mindful of the rugged exterior and peaceful interior. Meditate, practice vinyasa, or enjoy a glass of wine on the stone patios above the water.

Three days prior to your arrival, AirBnB shares "Check-in Instructions" with you, via your AirBnB app. This includes detailed instructions for entering the cabin and a "Guest Manual" to make your stay easy. The manual has helpful suggestions while visiting the area (we edit as we learn ourselves!) as well as important house information, such as WiFi. If, for some reason, technology disappoints, just reach out a day or so before and I will share with you. Hard copy is located in cabin, in the top drawer of the kitchen island.
Other things to note
Strict no event or unannounced guest policy. We have wonderful neighbors whom we respect. Most of our guests simply need a breather. We choose guests on a case by case basis, and we often have a brief chat. If we feel your lodging needs are better met elsewhere, we’ll respectfully decline. If you’re seeking an AirBnB “business,” please do not inquire.
IMPORTANT***The flow of Moffit's Brook varies GREATLY with the seasons and weather. It tends to be strong and fierce during Winter & Spring months; tends to be VERY slow and gentle during late Summer & early Fall. Included are labeled pictures of high/low season as samples, but nature can be unpredictable.
