Got cabin fever? Come to the mountains of the Red River upper valley, on the river, 8 minutes from town!
This fun, A-frame, knotty pine cabin is a “home of your own” on a little over half an acre of land bordering the Red River. It is located five miles from the town of Red River and is close to dramatic hikes, skiing, snow-boarding, and fabulous trout fishing IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD! This large, three-story cabin is stylistically outfitted. It has two large master bedrooms on the second floor, one with a king bed and the other with a queen. Both masters offer balconies which open up to gorgeous views of the mountains or river. There is a large sleeping loft on the third floor with high ceilings, a third balcony, great light, a futon, two twin beds and one queen bed.
The downstairs open concept, gathering area surrounds a tremendous, one-of-a-kind floating gas-log fireplace, perfect for warming up in the winter or on a cool summer night. The reading room also functions as an extra sleeping area with a sofa bed. There is a 2nd sleeper sofa in the living room. The large kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, and appliances. The large dining table accommodates 8-10 people. There are 2 stools at the kitchen bar as well. The over-sized, sunken tub in the downstairs bath is perfect for relaxing muscles after hiking the mountains or a day on the slopes.
You’ll ascend to the bedrooms on the large, metal spiral staircase standing in the center of the cabin. Please watch your young kiddos as they climb the stairs. There are 18” gaps between each vertical bar on that staircase. Concerned guests are welcome to bring baby gates to block the 3 entrances to the stairs on the different levels.
All towels the bathrooms and and bedding for the comfy beds are provided. You’ll enjoy free WIFI at the cabin, as well at many of the shops and restaurants in town. We have satellite TVs, but the house is more about old fashioned fun with playing cards, over 30 board games, and plenty of movies. There is an outdoor fire pit, charcoal grill, picnic area, and plenty of night sky for star gazing. You can nap, hike, watch the hummingbirds, and just relax. The community center in town has free daily activities in summer, lots of fun for the entire family. The towns of Angel Fire, Taos, and Eagle Nest are no more than 30-60 minutes away.
If you're interested in skiing, here are the drive times to each of the resorts:
Red River Ski Valley: 13 mins
Angel Fire Ski Valley: 47 mins
Taos Ski Valley: 1 hour and 10 mins
When approaching the cabin, you will see majestic Wheeler Peak, rising 13,000 feet in front of you. The drive descends to the cabin which is situated by the river and nestled among the trees. You will love the privacy and quiet. During the winter, you will want to park at the top of the drive or bring an AWD or 4WD vehicle to park next to the cabin. The drive is always plowed during the winter.
