Location
We loved the remote location of this cabin! Very cozy cabin with peaceful surroundings! It was tricky to cool the main floor to a comfortable level without AC or being able to open more windows but we made the best of it and spent a lot of time on the deck.

Amazing stay in Black Hills National Forest
We really enjoyed our stay - though we were switched to a different cabin. Julie was very communicative and helpful throughout our stay. The location was perfect - we were close to Mt. Rushmore, Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Custer State Park. And close enough to Hill City and Keystine to find great places to eat and hang out. We were actually at Riley’s Retreat and it was a great cabin. Have already recommended to a couple of friends!

Perfect little hide-a-way!
Great little secluded place that was both peaceful and relaxing for our weekend getaway with the family. It was also located in the perfect spot close to all of the locations we planned to visit (Mt Rushmore / Bear Country / Caves / Reptile Gardens). Would highly recommend!

Cozy cabin near Hill City
We enjoyed our stay. It was exactly as advertised. We were close to Hill City where we enjoyed the shops and the breweries/ wineries. This was a quiet place to relax after a day of exploring Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse monument as well as Custer State Park. Beds were comfortable and kitchen provided adequate supplies.

Nice but far
Super cute property but way off the beaten path. I’d stay again if I was looking for a weekend of just hanging in a cabin but not doing the sight seeing thing. Probably a little tighter for my family.

Dirty
Mold and mildew in all bathrooms. Dead animal or strong smell of one in upstairs closet. Not a good experience. Needs to be cleaned throughout.

Awful
I’ve been doing Vrbo for years and never complained except for one other!! This place was not up front until you pay and then give you more rules on what you can’t do vs can do left a bad taste from the get go!! The place had 70’s shag dirty carpet disgusting.. mildew bathrooms, only portable a/c upstairs so if you sleep downstairs your screwed!! Can’t open slider to at least get airflow, no screens! Dilapidated tables on porch which should be thrown away!! Perfectly good table that was thrown in back of the house that no one took the effort to replace!! Left 2 towels that were see through that I would even use as rags!! The noisy neighbor checking out everything you do, I’m assuming he’s the one who complains so that’s why the negative list of everything you can’t do!! The positive s: bed was comfortable, the tv worked and we saw a few deers and roaming cattle!! I would say camp tenting and using public bathroom would be better and cleaner!!!

Beautiful
Beautiful doesn't describe the surroundings for this amazing cabin. In the middle of anything you want to do, UTV trails right outside your door, wildlife, calm mornings for coffee on the deck... AMAZING! We will be going back!!

Vacation Cut Short By A Snowstorm
The cabin was very clean and the check-in process went very smooth. The road to the cabin was as described and we had no problem getting TO the cabin. However, we got caught in a late spring winter storm that dumped 26 inches of wet, heavy snow on the whole area; and we wound up getting stuck at the cabin because of the 2 ft plus snowdrifts blocking the road to it. The storm started early Tuesday and we didn't get out until Thursday. We discovered that the cabin, which I assume is rented out during the winter, didn't even have a shovel on the premises! Really? We had to resort to using the dust pan to scrape away the snow from the door until we could get to the neighbors down the road and borrow a shovel from them. The neighbors were AWESOME, helping us as much as possible. On top of all that, the power went out Tuesday evening and didn't come back on until Thursday around noon. So there we were: snowed in, no heat except for the fire place, no hot water, conserving water as much as possible because we weren't sure how long we'd have water pressure. We did have a gas grille so we could cook our meals. We contacted the office about opening the road from the cabin, but at first their equipment was broke down. In the mean time our neighbors tried to help out by running their UTV up and down the road, packing down the snow somewhat so that we MIGHT be able to drive out. When the office got their snow equipment going again, we discovered that all they had for pushing snow was an ATV with a flexible snow blade on in front. That may work for light powdery snow, but that was worthless against this wet heavy stuff, whether it was packed down or not. Their only other solution was to get a crew together to shovel out the 250-300 yards of heavy snow from the road to the cabin. Really? By then we'd had enough. The power came back on at noon on Thursday, so we showered up and then packed up and left early. One of our vehicles had 4WD, and they led and we followed in their tracks. Luckily, it was down hill. There was no way either vehicle would have made back up to the cabin. Now I understand, no one could control the weather or the power outage. We saw all the trees downed as we drove out. But the office could have kept us better informed of what was happening. And It's plain they are not prepared for a major snowstorm. In light of how this turned out, we'd like a partial refund of what we paid for the cabin.

Very rustic
Very rustic. Windows downstairs were a little tough to open. Could have used air conditioning in the upstairs. Got a little warm the first couple nights due to the one window air on the main floor. Was a nice drive to the cabin. Worked out well for our group.

Beautiful cabin amd surroundings
The cabin is mostly secluded but you can see other cabins in the area from it. The cabin itself is what you would expect. If you like fishing patrols is a five to ten minute drive to the north and Sheridan is a ten minute drive south.
